This is how many of us played in the late 30s, 40s, and 50s, most of us influenced by Tommy Dorsey's sweet melodic sound. We heard this daily as we grew up and was a part of us.
Felix Mayerhofer I was fortunate enough to have Tommy's sweet sound as my inspiration when I began playing in the 80's. I've always counted myself lucky to have happened upon him and that my parents went with it.
Next to Dorsey, nobody played this tune better than the great Joe Howard-#1 Hollywood studio trombonist of the 50's, 60's and into the early 70's. Joe was the most beautiful toned trombonist of them all. However Bart is also a great trombonist and does a very good job here.
Bart is a great player but if he's going to play this tune he really needs to NAIL IT because of the inevitable Dorsey comparisons. He didn't nail it and the arrangement is just lame.
This music makes my day beatiful! Perfect, thats all that can besaid!!
Wonderful. Played with soul, with hearth.

I should have known you would already have been here. I love Bart's playing

Wonderfully said Helen Thompson!
This song or tune whatever you want to call it was meant for the trombone
Tommy Dorsey would be proud of you!
Sentimental
semi tone higher.... in D...but not the feeling,,,,
B
The chord just before the 1st bridge is WRONG! Bartje plays this nicely, but NO Tommy!
don't care for the 'lip vibrato'

How didn’t he nail it? He played higher than the original, his tone was as clear as butter, he didn’t split a single note, his vibrato was spot on.
