I mean the Kuudō is pretty broken if you know nothing about it so I guess some part was due to being caught off guard but overall you're right. Maybe it was a way to show that Baki slacked off, or a way to show that the inmates were different from what Baki used to fight? But yeah that loss was like such a bummer.
Just to then mop the floor with yanagi later. Basically every inmate was written just to make the cast look good. It's my hero academia levels of pathetic
@@Gazing-09 Bro had like fifteen seconds to get out of the way, and Yanagi just casually took his sweet time walking over as he kept explaining his technique. Shibukawa literally yelled at Baki the whole time too, but Baki was just too lost in his own head to listen. He deserved that L.
@@tylerlackey1175 Then be glad for the cast. Because the Pickle and Musashi arcs were the complete opposite of that. Because the way they did my boy Retsu in those arcs...... 🤦♂
Has to be fucking doppo or Motobe. I swear I can’t think of a single legitimate win they’ve had in the series. I think orochi’s only win may be in the original 1991(?) manga
Baki could have won if he used his fight knowledge. But if he wants to beat his dad both strength and fight iq should be peaked. I thought he realized that and tried to beat pickel like oliva, hanayama or his dad would.
No one is perfect, to get to the top you need to be defeated so that after each fight you'll learn more. His defeat counts are high proving that the author didn't abuse plot armor and the manga is good.
What I like about Baki he knows how to take Ls as a part of life and grows as a person. Especially he went from an overconfident cocky person to a lay-back but a smart fighter.
When Baki tried challenging Yuri to a boxing match and got knocked out, it definitely lit a spark in Baki. I distinctly remember Baki promptly setting off for the mountains to begin a new (and brutal) type of training.
Exactly the two Hanma brothers experience defeats multiple times, Jack also, they really have similarity at this point. Jack defeated first by Baki, then by Yujiro, then by Pickle, then by Motobe.
You forgot that geia and the soldiers knock him out instantly and tie him up before he defeats them. If you count that Zulu fight as a loss you should count that one as well
Didn’t Baki get his ass handed to him by the Gaia and his squadmates the first time around? Baki also got double punched into unconsciousness by Guevaru and Oliva once.
I still don't agree with the conclusion of the father and son quarrel arc. Yujiro did in that fight everything he wanted to do to Baki: he schooled him, he discipline him, he punished him and after that he beat him up. The only difference between this fight and their first encounter was that Baki did not pass out after one punch to the face. I get that they wanted to portray the "strength" aspect as not being all about power and beating your opponent up, but my god, did Baki got a whooping.
With which prisoner's defeat meaning are we going with? Dorian's "you loose only when you fight till your last moments with everything you had"? Yanagi's "You loose when you accept defeat"? Or maybe speck's "you loose when you die"?
Actually pickles second fight with Baki he technically won after the fall and when he did the martial art throw it was stated Baki was already KOd after a few hits.
It still gets me how baki storyline were way more elaborated and compelling when he was just a kid compared to nowadays I don't hate the over the top stuff but... can't deny that I find baki original narrative way more compelling I know it was never a "serious" story but damn did it change over the years 😂
The loss to Yanagi was the worst one. Baki.... literally just *STOOD* there like an idiot despite Shibukawa's warnings.

he is a Hanma and very prideful and overconfident. so makes sense he takes losses like that
I thought Sikorsky was the character with the most defeats, but it seems I was wrong
So wrong, too. Sikorsky's máx must be like 7, baki lost like 30 times.
Sikorsky hasnt fought on screen nearly as much as baki so its only natural

Hanayama vs Spec is top 3 best fights in the series, I think it might have been since it has a lack of explanations, compared to most other fights.
It was just pure straight slaughter.
probably cuz there was no explanation for the insane shit going on
Also it was a close fight, which is kinda rare now. Most Baki fights are kinda one sided now
1. Jack vs pickle
2. Baki vs oliver
3. Hanayama vs speck
4. Yujiro vs Kaku kioh
5. Jack vs sukune
( this is according to me)
Baki was dominating the fight against pickle in every way and he could’ve won, but he acted cocky at the end of the fight and got what he deserved tbh
Baki could have won if he used his fight knowledge.

5:18 It counts because every character in Baki will hold this absurd standard and count it as a loss.
100%, a Rikishi is ready to fight at any time in any condition, everything else is basically bitching
No one is perfect, to get to the top you need to be defeated so that after each fight you'll learn more. His defeat counts are high proving that the author didn't abuse plot armor and the manga is good.
Despite his flaws, he is human.

Baki is chill with defeats

Didn’t Baki get his ass handed to him by the Gaia and his squadmates the first time around?
Baki also got double punched into unconsciousness by Guevaru and Oliva once.
I think it was a slap by both of them at once and made Baki unconscious, basically defeated
still only 19 and fighting guys like this, going back and forth, he will definitely be the strongest, in time.
I don’t think Baki lost to pickle because of his ego, I feel like it’s for sending a message to pickle.

What about the time that biscuit oliva and che guevara hit Baki in face
Nah, I don't think it counts since Baki butted in their argument. Pickle lost a tooth because of that.

He didn't really beat him up, more like Yujiro got annoyed with Baki and shoved him through a wall and out the building.
