Hi Paul when u have poured the fuel out of bottle and u said there could b a bit of fuel in top have u tried stand bottle up then press button will the fuel go back in hope it stops that great vid
I have another recommendation. If it is hot outside first press the button while the bottle is upright. The inside might be under pressure! It happened to me one time that alcohol was shooting out both sides.
That shaking after the filling the burner is the same action men do after filling the gas tank--casually carried over from the potty training days, and practiced many, many times in the boys' bathrooms.
how did it all work out on your first trip? did you first test the new equipment at home or jumped right into the water doing first testing in the field?
Good vid Paul, I've never had any problems carrying my meths in old nail polish remover bottles that the Mrs bins. No chance of leakage plus knowing it's held remover you know there's no chance of meths corroding the plastic. The only downside I guess is the amount I can carry...Never ran out luckily Enjoyed your vid mate Take care Mike
I use these for long term bulk storage, but never in the field. If you forget to screw down the locking nut, you are gonna have a bad time with fuel leaking all over your pack. I don't do alcohol stoves much anymore because they have limited use on long trips (gotta cary too much fuel) but when I do, it's always in a bottle with a top that is obviously closed or obviously open, with little chance of it changing that state in my pack. These bottles don't do it for me in the field.
99% isopropyl alcohol might burn hot, but it’s going to put a *lot* of black messy stuff on your pots. I’ve found that mine wants at least 50% methanol in the fuel to not make a big black mess! Isopropyl alcohol would be a lot worse than “green” denatured alcohol, which I have tried. It gave a bigger fire, but the black mess it left on my pot was *awful!*
Hello :-) can't thank you enough,as I have learned so much about my new trangia. You have shown me that I would have done quite a few wee things the wrong way. I'm going to be much more confident+safer now.Thank you so much for taking the time to share your knowledge with us. I think your the best!*
You may not see this. I’m completely new to al this. Can you please tell me what the basket ‘stove’ was that you dropped the Trangia burner into please?
Nice video, thanks. I am having trouble getting the top off when refilling. Seems stuck. A mate had the same problem, and used too much force to unscrew the top and broke the nozzles off. Any ideas to make it easier to unscrew?
I had the same problem with the screw on top. Eventually freed it by holding the top quite firmly in the wooden jaws of a Black and Decker Workmate clone and a strap wrench around the stove body/reservoir. When freed off I applied a good smear of vaseline to the threads and now I carefully replace the top finger tight then ease it back a little. It remains safely in place ready for its next use. Prior to this I empty as much fuel as I can, then prop the stove at an angle and use a small olastic syringe obtainable from a pharmacy to draw up as much of the remaining fuel as I can and return it to the fuel bottle. Any remaining amount is so miniscule that a couple of minutes burn will eliminate it. The syringe is handy for achieving a safe spill-free refuelling as it allows fine control of the filling process.
Yes Home Bargains have the best price on meths, time to stock up before they realise they are so cheap ( its a buy one get two free) as other stores are selling 500ml at £2.98p for a single bottle.
I bought 30l several years ago directly from the factory and it was very cheap (not for cooking). I have checked later and the price was doubled. During the pandemic it is difficult or impossible to get anything at all and the price was doubled again! 😩
I'm sure it was this video where you talked about glugging when pouring meths into the bottles. In my feral youth as an apprentice, wobbling about on a step ladder trying to pour 20 litre bottles of anti freeze into a cooler.... (The ones with a handle and the opening on the top, adjacent to each other) My boss, who was watching me piss anti freeze all over the machine and floor said that "you should keep the mouth of the bottle at the highest point for air intake and you can slowly revolve it round as the liquid empties." So if you started pouring with a full bottle the handle is low and the mouth is high. Works with the 5 litre meths bottles as well.(and not so heavy) Almost perfect pour every time without a funnel. Love the videos. The only thing I can think of to make them even better would (and I would really appreciate it) be if you were to also play the jungle music theme tune at the end of your videos as well. Fantastic.
I always want to know the weight of things that I'll have to carry. Did you get the dry weight of these bottles? Never mind. The weights are 3.35 oz, 4.06 oz, and 5.64 oz.
Hi Paul just getting into camping/hiking an just bought my first trangia burner . What fuel is best can I use just normal DIY meths and does it matter if it's purple or clear ??
I will have to get one of these,as at present I carry my meths in a medium size whisky flask! Any idea how many fills of the burner you would get from the smallest bottle?
I am looking for a container for my motorcycle. Do these have pressure valves so the fuel doesn't spray when I want to take the top off? Or can the spout work as a pressure release valve?
I use Meths in the Trangia bottles. Gas cartridges for the Trangia gas conversion are ISO Screw Thread (EN417) you can get different mixes depending on the temperature you are going to use them in i.e. winter mix summer ect.

How durable are these? Are they prone to leaks or cracks? I'm debating getting two 500ml bottles instead of one 1L just in case something happens in the bush. Relying on one always has me a bit uneasy.
I have one that has been filled for over 8 years. The contents still burns and nothing leaked. They are very solid and durable. This comes at the price of extra weight. I use them for storage, not in the field. I don't like these for in the field because too much can go (and has gone) wrong with not securing the locking nut or it backing off in a pack over time.
Paul, as I see you use the Trangia fuel bottles I have come to understand how handy they are refueling. One thing I don't understand yet, is those packets you use for brew. It looks like coffee with perhaps powdered cream in it? Haven't seen those in the USA, but my wife does grocery shopping usually. Thanks- Still making my way through your videos and having lots of fun doing that. - FARMERIK
The Trangia fuel bottles are very good and you feel confident carrying them in your pack. The coffee sachets are a mix of coffee and creamer, i use the 2 in 1 as i don't have sugar/ Here's a link to the product. www.nescafe.co.uk/coffee-culture/single-serve-coffee?gclid=CjwKCAjwycfkBRAFEiwAnLX5IYKem6y0ke1rYYeGFbUFQ27uCIhVg8eJfKcejcyzGSJEtUrlpjNImRoCMOsQAvD_BwE Thanks for watching ;)
Where are you? sounds like a freeway next door. I also like the ring tone on your cell phone, nice to be popular and getting messages. Looks a bit longer than that 🙂
When i say mill its short for milliliters or millimeters. The metric system. Like spanners in the US 12 mill spanner "Wrench" So in this case Milliliters. 1000 = 1 Litre. Yes i was near a busy road.
👍 .. yep, those bottles are good .. I've got the 500ml size. One thing though, the threads on both the bottle and top are plastic. If one is careless enough, it is possible to 'cross-thread' them, which creates its own set of problems. Refilling a Burner which has run dry. With any Spirit Burner, I keep a wet folded cotton face cloth handy which I put over the top of the burner. The cloth (aka 'jammer lappie' / 'sorry rag') has other uses .. cleaning spillages .. wiping hands / surfaces .. handling hot items .. etc, etc. Take care ..
I have found since, that if you hold it upright and press the button down the fluid will go back into the bottle and it won't leak afterwards. There is a small amount in the press top mechanism. That was the problem :)

I will give it a go.
I tried that and it did go back in the bottle thanks for the comment.
Nice idea, i am using the trangia burner and the fuel bottle too and didnt get this idea yet. Thanks.
I have another recommendation. If it is hot outside first press the button while the bottle is upright. The inside might be under pressure!
It happened to me one time that alcohol was shooting out both sides.
Great video and you make a good point: The sweetness of a low price can be quickly replaced by the bitterness of low quality.
Just bought the .5 litre. . Brilliant bottle . 👌
The king of Trangia! They should pay you for it! Every time before I consider on buying any Trangia product, I watch your video first.
Pride in ownership.
Now I’ve got to shine up my trangia.
The jungle intro cracks me up every time lol
You my friend just saved me my eyebrows because I had considered refilling it right away when I ran out, unaware that it would blow up in my face.
That shaking after the filling the burner is the same action men do after filling the gas tank--casually carried over from the potty training days, and practiced many, many times in the boys' bathrooms.
💧💧💧💧
Great video, thank you. Going camping this weekend having just bought a 1L Trangia bottle and a Trangia 27. Wish me luck!
Have a great time :)
how did it all work out on your first trip? did you first test the new equipment at home or jumped right into the water doing first testing in the field?
Great video Paul many thanks. I've just got a trangia stove to use with my folding fire box. Great tips and useful information 👍
Good vid Paul, I've never had any problems carrying my meths in old nail polish remover bottles that the Mrs bins. I do the same, even used nail polish remover as fuel before ;)
Great learn and share remark, as that is what it is all about.
This is my favorite type of British accent. Great video.
Think I'll get one, seen swedish army one for £20. No smoke, ideal for stealthy wild camping👌😀
I love the fact that this fuel leaves behind no soot.
Thanks for watching Melissa :)
Anytime Paul!
I have the middle and large size and I didn’t know the small one existed.
I think I can feel another purchase coming on🤔😁, … Thank you for sharing. 👍😁
Not very cheap unfortunately
Just picked one up. Good video. Thanks
Have the biggest fuel container currently. Am thinking to secure a smaller one as well.
I use these for long term bulk storage, but never in the field. If you forget to screw down the locking nut, you are gonna have a bad time with fuel leaking all over your pack. Thanks for the review, exactly the info I was looking for.
Glad I could help
I really appreciate the detailed review. I saw these on eBay in the states. I’m going to purchase one. Thanks!😊
thanks for sharing, hopefully you can do lots a video about cooking with trangia after this.
AMER AKHMAL I have done a few videos on cooking. Thanks for commenting. There will be more coming 👍
I put the coffee in once the water has boil. I wonder if it tasted any different doing this way?
I'm looking at various methods to carry use fuel for trangia
Thanks, this was really useful. Can you tell us a bit more about who you are, where you live, and how you learnt this stuff ?
Great video! Have you tried using isopropyl alcohol in the trangia?
99% isopropyl alcohol might burn hot, but it’s going to put a *lot* of black messy stuff on your pots.
I’ve found that mine wants at least 50% methanol in the fuel to not make a big black mess! Isopropyl alcohol would be a lot worse than “green” denatured alcohol, which I have tried. It gave a bigger fire, but the black mess it left on my pot was *awful!*
It definitely works.. both 99% and even 90%. It produces a lot of soot though in my experience.
Hello :-) can't thank you enough,as I have learned so much about my new trangia. You have shown me that I would have done quite a few wee things the wrong way. I'm going to be much more confident+safer now.Thank you so much for taking the time to share your knowledge with us. I think your the best!*
Great, informative video. What make is the pot with the burner cage support? It looks really useful. I tried searching online to no avail. Thanks
I did buy the 500 ML bottle.

Dont tighten it too much. Thats i can say. Thanks for watching.
I know this is late in coming, but I apply silicone grease to the threads of my bottle tops. Helps immensely.
Personally I just use old contact lens solution bottles for my spirits. No drips.
Good idea
Trangia fuel bottle adheres to the old principle of...No matter how much you wiggle no matter how much u dance the last 2 drops go in ya pants.
True! I had them in my sleeping bag on Saturday LOL
I went to Home Bargains today and got 4 bottles of meths, 500ml bottles at 99p each :) So cheap...
Yes Home Bargains have the best price on meths, time to stock up before they realise they are so cheap ( its a buy one get two free) as other stores are selling 500ml at £2.98p for a single bottle.
I have enough to get me through the next couple of months. I will go and clear the shelves again in a month or so :) Love Home Bargains...
My local has a nice water filter bottle for £1.99. Nice wide mouth, but only use for tap water.
Told ya so! ;o)
I bought 30l several years ago directly from the factory and it was very cheap (not for cooking). I have checked later and the price was doubled.
During the pandemic it is difficult or impossible to get anything at all and the price was doubled again! 😩
Where to get that basket support?

Fantastic.
What are you using for Fuel? I'm going to buy the 0.3L today.
Nice vid thanks, I read you can ad 10-15% water to reduce the soot marks on your cookware have you ever read or tried this?
Yes, add about 10% water asnd that helps, but you may lose some heat.
My fuel bottle came yesterday. Trying it out today. It doesn't have the magic lid. I spill alcohol everytime I pour it
I could fill it with water and practice.
Nothing wrong with brasso mate.
Put it on pipes after plumbing.
Doesn't matter if it leaks it looks like a pro job 😂
What cooking kit have you got there please easy light weight?
I always want to know the weight of things that I'll have to carry. Did you get the dry weight of these bottles?
Never mind. The weights are 3.35 oz, 4.06 oz, and 5.64 oz.

Where is a good place to buy good cheap methelated spirits from?
What is your prefered fuel for your trangia?
I use methylated spirit. Its easy to get in the UK. amzn.to/3xHEWby
hi I'm doing a motorcycle camp and was wondering is this bottle safe in my pannier case kind regards Phil great vid
Phillip Payne Yes it will be safe as long as you follow the correct guidelines. Have a great camp ;)
Hi Paul just getting into camping/hiking an just bought my first trangia burner . What fuel is best can I use just normal DIY meths and does it matter if it's purple or clear ??
Normal meths or clear doesn't matter. Put 10% water in to stop sooting. Have a great time using the Trangia :)
Hi Paul , did you know that putting a small amount of water or Hand sanitizer into your Meths stops any sooting from happening ?
Yes i do know that. Thanks for saying Bob. 😎
That's a myth
What kind of fuel is that exactly?
It's know as Meths in the UK amzn.to/3vGBQDP
Hiya Paul my pots go black with the Methylated spirits is it better to use biothanol spirit
I will have to get one of these,as at present I carry my meths in a medium size whisky flask!
Any idea how many fills of the burner you would get from the smallest bottle?
Around 3 to 4 i would say. Thanks for watching Martin.
Do the bottles need to be stored upright?
No they won't leak on there side :)
I am looking for a container for my motorcycle. Do these have pressure valves so the fuel doesn't spray when I want to take the top off?
Or can the spout work as a pressure release valve?
I don't know to be honest, i pressurised one once it will release if you press the top down.
Paul Bisseker Bushcraft thanks brother! This is the best kind of bottle I have been able to find thanks to your video.
Paul hi what type of fuel do you use? I am just about to buy a bottle of eBay and was also thinking about the gas fitting for the trangia
I use Meths in the Trangia bottles. Gas cartridges for the Trangia gas conversion are ISO Screw Thread (EN417) you can get different mixes depending on the temperature you are going to use them in i.e. winter mix summer ect.

Nice info man 👍
Sounds like a rest stop beside of a highway, M-5 ??
M40 is close by.
Could I use this to store lighter fluid?
What do you find to be the best fuel for your burner? Thanks for sharing.
I use Methylated Spirit, its known as Meths in the UK and is a purple colour.
Paul Bisseker Bushcraft Appreciate your reply. Enjoy watching your videos.
Is the valve sold separately from the bottle? How does the valve attach to the bottle?
The valve comes with the bottle. It is screwed on like a bottle top, the thread is internal.
How durable are these? Are they prone to leaks or cracks?
I'm debating getting two 500ml bottles instead of one 1L just in case something happens in the bush. Relying on one always has me a bit uneasy.
They’re extremely durable, I have a 1L Trangia bottle that’s 25 years old and is still in perfect working order.
I have one that has been filled for over 8 years. The contents still burns and nothing leaked. They are very solid and durable. This comes at the price of extra weight. I use them for storage, not in the field. I don't like these for in the field because too much can go (and has gone) wrong with not securing the locking nut or it backing off in a pack over time.

nice one paul ,feeling the need to invest in a 500ml bottle ,btw did you go to four dwellings school back in the day ?
No it wasn't me

@@PaulBissekerBushcraft 👍
I don't like meths, it's a mucky burner. Hacenda fuel is much better and a lot cleaner. The bottles are great. Used one for years
If you don't shake it and dry it then you will get drips. Buy cheap buy twice.
I have found since, that if you hold it upright and press the button down the fluid will go back into the bottle and it won't leak afterwards. There is a small amount in the press top mechanism. That was the problem :)
safety approved,TUV bla bla bla.BUT THEY LEAK ! when was the last time i used a vessel a second time that i knew leaked, drips or whatever.good show,il give them bottles a miss.
is this a parody channel? is there a fish and chip shop on the other side of the camera?
Butane is better
You can fill the trangia and take it with you. It'll be the smallest option so it's arguably better for bushcraft. Less weight, less space
Buy cheap pay twice
It's ok to pronounce the Ts in the words such as "bottles" notice how there are 2 of them? Ya you can use those letters.
are you also from the language police? (like me 🙂)
