I've idolised David Copperfield since I was around 9 years old. He's a master showman, his shows are very entertaining, funny, seamless, his timing is precisely perfect on cue, for the magic tricks/illusion. He mixes, music, conversation/connection with the audience and dancing, applause and laughter! Also random picking of audience members! He's simply the best in the world! = )
It's a real shame how many people can't or won't understand. David Copperfield is a very skilled entertainer and invented many of his own illusions. I grew up with his shows and I've seen him live on stage four times, and every time I was stunned. I might know how some of the tricks are done but that doesn't make them any less impressive. The whole purpose of this is to make people suspend their disbelief for a while because people need to believe that nothing is impossible.
Well put. I became a magician during my college years and did parties and such to help pay for books and stuff and I, too, grew up on the Magic of David Copperfield and started learning how he did some of his tricks. What amazes me is that Copperfield continued to improve where other magicians just stuck to their routines. Even I, well-trained in so many aspects of magic, am baffled by how he performed some of these illusions.
Seen this 5 times live, twice in the front row, unbelievable. Simply the best there's ever been. Unbelievable. People who criticize do it for the sake of criticizing. Get over yourselves. Unbelievable show.
To the idiots commenting here that camera tricks are involved: David Copperfield is the most famous illusionist alive. He's been performing his magic live for decades. He's done many world tours and still does live performances today. He's only done the TV specials from time to time, but he does live performances year round - that's how he became so fabulously wealthy. He's won every conceivable honor and is among the Living Legends chosen by the Library of Congress. Millions have seen him live over the years, and he's more amazing in person because you are actually there, can see everything, and he still makes your jaw drop. Some of you have grown up with the inferior magic of mediocre performers like Chriss Angel and David Blaine, so I guess when you see magic on Copperfield's level, you assume camera tricks are involved, but they're not.
tenagnek Your comment lost all credibility as soon as you said David Blaine is a mediocre magician and his talent is inferior, DC hasn't done a single TV special in almost 20 fucking years, your comment makes him overrated.
Stevie DC started doing TV specials way back in the 70s. Of course he's inevitably going to stop at some point in his life. Especially after already winning 21 Emmys out of 38 nominations. Along with 11 Guinness World Records, the Living Legend Award from the Library of Congress, Chevalier of Arts and Letters, being named "Magician of the Century" and "King of Magic" by the Society of American Magicians, a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, etc...; it's pretty much impossible to overrate him. When the likes of Michael Jackson and Christopher Nolan needed guidance in the art of illusion, they sought out Copperfield. Chris Rock: "I'm in a box, and I ain't gonna eat. That ain't no magic trick, that's called living in the projects!" XD
Shiranui Aensland I know DC started his TV specials in the 70s. One of the first TV specials was The Magic of ABC. But i have to refute this morons opinion that DB is mediocre and inferior. DB has done so many things that compaired to DC that it arguably makes him the David Copperfield of our time. Stop picking on new magicians who clearly have talent.
Stevie Perhaps "mediocre" is a strong word given that Blaine is more successful than most other magicians. But "inferior" isn't far-fetched at all when comparing their accomplishments. Justin Timberlake has been called the Michael Jackson of his generation, but that doesn't mean they're both at the same level, does it? Copperfield's success is simply overwhelming to the point that he's often ranked above even Harry Houdini by experts of the art.
@@sillygoose635 That is one of the dumbest comments I've ever read. Blaine likely wouldn't exist if not for Copperfield paving the way and revolutionizing the industry. Blaine is most certainly inferior to Copperfield. I don't even see them as close.
Over the years some great illusions have been done.but that Hawaii one is still a killer ! I never want to know how its done because it's truly magical.
I saw this exact show in Athens when he was on tour... I was in the third row and when he was walking to go on stage he kissed my hand... Haven't washed it since! lolololol! Love you David!
The Portal Illusion Always gets me emotional.. David Copperfield has that way of capturing one's emotions throughout his performance. Awesome work Mr. Copperfield

I can't believe with my own eyes to wacth the magic show like this. David Copperfield is amazing magician and I love his show that help people having good time to enjoy and relax.
David Copperfield is one of the greatest illusionist ever. All of his tricks are all thought out. He literally takes at least 10 years to perfect an illusion, thinking of every angle possible.
These tricks were also performed at the Allstate Arena in Rosemont... LUV IT... Wish I can go to another David Copperfiled show....from the mid 90's to now...
So sorry to dissappoint to the non believers here but my wife and I were actually in the audience during this taping. This was at the Coliseum in Memphis Tennessee and was my first time seeing him live as I always watched his Tv specials as a kid in the 80'.. We were in no way shape or form affiliated with David Copperfield, approached, or paid to be here or let in on any secret to the tricks he did. We saw from the audience exactly what you see here on video and were as amazed as you.
And neither are movies, plays, books, video games, or TV shows. We're all competent people. We understand it's all just clever tricks, but the point of magic is entertainment, and that it does very well.
I know not many people are a fan of this special but I remember as a kid seeing the commercials for this and I think it's his best honestly. I've seen thirteen, duck bucket, from this special live. As well seen him 3 times live. It's an incredible show. The reason the illusions are soo good is because he gives you a reason and emotional connection for the illusions. He's not just making any car appear. He's making his grandfathers dream car appear. He's not just making a spaceship appear. He's giving you a story with a 20 minute buildup to the appearance. If you just vanish on a platform over the audience, that's cool. But having a reason why is what makes you drawn in.
I was part of one of David Copperfield's acts, and could not figure out how he did what he did. There may be fake audience members, I don't know. But what I do know was that I was on stage and I was not a "fake" it was not planned, I was not asked before the show. I was called up to the stage randomly. This man is amazing.
Hi there, I know it’s an old post and you probably won’t see this, but I was also pulled out of the audience, completely unanticipated. It was 30 years ago, but it remains one of my favorite memories!
he uses planned people in the audience, they do as instructed including prostetics. Its beautiful all the same i can see the tricks, I wished i couldn't. Thanks to his love of his work I miss his true tricks. To be a Copperfield is a great honor. Legends never die.
In spite of my previous comment I do admire Sir David's use of technology, engineering, and other sciences as well as psychology in his illusions/ magic. He makes me believe that there are portals to other dimensions...and they are concentrated all around him.🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 I admire his work ethic and the loyalty he inspired in his team. A very rare individual indeed.🙋🏾🙏🏾 Some things he does while it amazes me, still scares the crap out of me.🤯🤦🏾
My freakin' god...everytime I watch David Copperfield, I believe he has a pact with the devil or something lol. Sure these magic performances are tricks, but hell...the style and the way he does them are so great.
In 1988 David Copperfield came to my city we went to see him. This was before he was seriously popular my parents were still able to take some time to talk to him after his show as was I. At that time not only was the audience not fake but we thought it was really neat all that he did. I am sure that many of the shows on tv are fake but I still like what he does.
I even hit the silver ball twice as it was being hit around for a chance to be in the group illusion. I am a skeptic and I looked for wires, mirrors etc and saw nothing. Go to a live show of his in Vegas and you will become a believer in his illusions. We were seated at around the 3:00 second row on this round stage per the main camera.. We were advised that this was being filmed for a special and our agreement to use our likeness on televison by staying for the show.
There is a thin line between facing ones fears and having a death wish.😲🤔😅 Love you and pray for your wisdom and safety.🙏🏾 As your name means Well- Beloved, and Appointed. ( David Seth) 🙋🏾❤️
With the teleporting people to their favorite destination, they're obviously audience plants. They all say "Ready" at the exact same time. I still have no idea how he does it though.
Even if it's fake... nobody cares nor ever did. It's entertainment... and he does so pretty well... he is much more entertaining wo watch even between his tricks than most people calling themselfs entertainers. |D
