I believe if Darren and I started a conversation together the sun might set and we'd just be getting to the project. I listened to this and realized 5 minutes past as many of you did. What's your rush. He is what he is and just relax and enjoy the session. His information is priceless. Hat's off to Darren.
I finally recognized what one of the greatest differences in your videos is...the infectious level of energy. It creates enthusiasm and confidence and I can't wait to get outside and start my own troubleshooting efforts on our 30 year old MH. I tried watching a few other videos by other repair-videographers and I couldn't do it. That's when I realized it was the sparks coming out of you everywhere that makes the difference. I have no idea how you ever get to sleep at night and I gotta feeling that people near you have to take a vacation once in awhile because a normal person can't absorb that much energy.
Wow, thanks for the comment. Put a smile on my face. I let my wife read it too and she smiled as well. I finally found the American dream. Owning my own business, serving others needs and involving my family in it that's enough energy to keep everyone happy!
Thanks Darren, I had the exact same problem the night you released this video on patron. It was good to see I used your "follow the trail" process to discover the problem. Finding a replacement motor was the hardest part. Suburban was out of stock and none of the area dealerships had one. With nightly temps in the upper twenties I had to go for a generic replacement I could get in 2 days. Would like to hear how you deal with this type situation. You are my number one guide to trouble shooting! Thanks for all your work, Charles
This may have helped me a bunch. Working on a suburban sf-42 with exact symptoms. T/S closes, audible click at the unit, blower does not start. Have not yet tested voltage. My initial assumption was a bad main board as customer said the unit was working a week and a half ago. However, I will complete a voltage test to confirm source of the issue. Thank you for these videos, huge help. 👍
Your videos are so helpful, just went through the clicks but won’t start. Took it apart, turned out to be the part next to ignition point was warped and was touching the probe. Thanks
Nobody ever talks about the Electrode Ignitor. The amount/intensity of the sparks that you'll get has a lot to do with the function of the furnace. You can still get/hear a clicking noise that sounds like the electrode is igniting, but the spark won't be intense enough to start a flame. This is due to a bad ignitor on the board (not sending the correct amount of electrodes). You can buy those separately if you know how to de-solder and re-solder one back on. Otherwise, you'll have to swap out the entire board. Thank you very much for the detailed video. 1
This video helped me out a lot I got the coldest night in Florida here it's like 42 degrees outside right now and my tin can is really cool and off quick I took my furnace part at 4:00 in the morning and had it back up and running actually by 5:00 thank you so much
See, at 3:40 you just blow it for me. Stutter, repeat, begin relating to a different furnace type? I've got the same issue with a click, but the fan is not starting and I just want to find how to trouble shoot that abd that only. No switches, no Suburbans or Aqua Hot just from hot wire to reset/power switch to board and that's all. Limit works, motor works and reset works. I've checked connections to and from board and have got it to work temporarily. Maybe not enough battery power amps to run fan but have fully charged battery? Got to be a bad board, right?
Thank you for making these videos.....i became a full time rv resident 3 yrs ago and am ajack of all trades kinda guy....i love to learn new skills...you are a good teacher....
Your videos are very helpful. I do a lot of my own maintenance and if I didn’t I wouldn’t be able to afford to do many other things like camping. I’ve already made some improvements after watching some of your videos and appreciate them.
Physically checked distribution panel fuse (good). Thermostat clicks. Voltage checked the power switch, sail switch and circuit board. All seems to be working with the circuit board giving the error of "Air flow / limit fault). The Blower on the other hand does not seem to be getting power. I tested the -12VDC wire from the wall which is capped to the black wire going to the chassis of the blower. It worked fine. The black wire (reconnected) goes to the chassis of the blower. The connector for the black wire has a second black wire going to the off-white rectangular connector but does not seem to get power even though it is connected to the -12VDC wire in the wall. Following a number of your videos on testing. It seems to me my blower motor is dead as it is the only thing not responding and everything else (circuit board, sail switch, limit switch). As I do not have an available battery, is there another way to test the blower motor?
Suburban furnace SF-42QT 15amp fuse blown. Turned all power source off. Replacement fuse blowes with power restored to fuse panel, furnace of course is off and fuse blows. Twice it happened. Checked fuse component,ok. Reconnected to empty holder, still blowes. Line to furnace not showing resistance to ground. Firt thought comes to mind? Jasper AB little cold, using heat pump, fireplace and portable heater. Happy labor day
Dang it! I broke mine down, and i get the click but no 12v on the Blower pin off the PCB. Thank you for your tutorial, you’ve taught someone something today.
What component you use for 12v? Power when you remove the furnace trying to troubleshoot my own. I do usually residential or commercial but I’m new to this RV furnace and air conditioning so good to know sequence of ops.
I had just a click also. I diagnosed it, and I manually engaged the sail switch and everything worked after the sail switch, but the blower still wouldn't turn on so the problem is prior to the sail switch.

Darren, Love that you show your thought process when doing your repairs. Keep up the good work. Can you show the inside of your trailer and what you stock. Thanks
Thanks for the comment. When I was sitting in the camp chair trying to come up with basic analogies I decided not to go too deep into that topic - I was already worried I was making a mess of my analogy and needed to get back to work - I could see the customer was getting antsy w/o having any power eh. I do appreciate the comments though because it allows us to continue the discussion.
Darren, I will turn heat on via a dometic t-stat fan and heat may come on immediately OR 3 HOURS later or even the next day? So, is this 🤔 the relay going bad? My rig is a 2004 Pilgrim international.
Hi love your videos. Please help my furnace is not working this is what happened we was sleeping the other night I got up because there was a bad smell almost like burning wires smell. I tract it down to the furnace so I turned the thermostat off and went back to sleep but the fan never shut off I got up 2 hours later with the same smell and the furnace fan was still on oh of course I turned on all the exhaust fans in the rv.. Any way I went out side to look and there was lots of black soot on the out side of trailer and the screen. I disconnected the wires to the furnace. What do you think could cause that or where should I start first.
Hi Darren, I have a sf35 suburban furnace that clicks, but the blower does not start. I have verified power to the module board on the blue and red (running to the board) wires, but there is no power at the board on the red wire to the blower. Can I assume the board is bad? Thanks for your help Gary
We have our thermostat set at 68. There are times when the temperature is colder than 68 and the furnace doesn’t kick on. We have to turn the furnace off then back on and then it warms up to the set temp. Sometimes it can work properly all day. Sometimes we will have to turn it off then back on gain. What could be the problem?
Well my fans good so now idk what my prob is. It clicks from the controller but no fan no nothing. No power going to fan but connected 12v to fan and it turns on
I have a different problem on my furnace. I have airflow on it. Fan is working well. But there’s no HEAT coming out. I dont know what to do. Hope you can help. TIA
I have an atwood hydro 7912 12000btu, in an old 88 cabover camper. I'd like to put in something newer and that puts out a bit more heat for winter use, I was looking at a7920-11 18000 btu, it looks like it'll fit does this kinda thing work, it's hard finding a replacement. Thoughts?
I was wondering if you have any idea why the fan motor on my hf 8012 twitches once a second and does a quarter turn when the thermostat wires are connected. It's also not doing anything when I engage the sail switch manually. My intuition tells me the motor is actually spinning the wrong way when it does twitch on for that split second, but I'm not sure what way it's actually supposed to go, so I may just be stupid! 😂
If this motor clicks and the blower does not start does that mean the motor is bad? That is what is happening to mine. Im gonna go buy a voltmeter tomorrow to be sure.
Could a blower motor temporarily start working again? Just finished replacing the sail switch, then the circuit board which initially fixed the issue but now the furnace is not working, clicks but no fan turns on again
Hi I have a 2013 White Hawk and when I turn the furnace on a goes through its Purge rate fires up and shuts off I put a high limit switch in a new ignitor I took the solenoid apart to check those I put it back together and it did the same thing I went out when I was trying to start an Purge I put my hand over the exhaust and it fires up and will run as soon as I take my hand off of the exhaust it goes out so I put a piece of aluminum foil over the exhaust just enough to cover but it still lets exhaust come out and it runs fine is there an air flow adjustment on the exhaust
So I have a question, I have same problem but I tested the blower motor by putting voltage to it with power probe and it works.. my issue is between the blower motor power wire from their back. What might it be?
Okay, if you have a power probe, check that when there is a call for heat, that you have 12 volts on the pin on the DSI board that feeds the blower motor. Perhaps it's the control board and you're not getting power through that black relay on the DSI motherboard.
Hello do you have any videos on the AC code E5 on my Dometic thermostat. I turns it on and the compressor don’t turn on but it’s blowing air. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated
On this videos description we do list the error codes and diagnostic procedure for the SZ1 thermostat. Perhaps this will help. ua-cam.com/video/cmcSvh6xG2I/v-deo.html We also have a lot of service manuel's on our website resources tab: myrvworks.com/manuals/
@@MyRVWorks thank you very much. Your videos are great and so helpful. I’ve saved not only time but money as well by doing things myself. I’ve recommended your channel to several new camper owners as well.
Nice work finding that dead motor. I'll admit the title pretty much gave it away. If the motor relay engages that's pretty much the only thing left. One thing I wonder about is the economics of this repair. You had to come out, pull the furnace, diagnose it, order/replace the part, clean up the wiring then drive back out to reinstall. How does that compare (cost-wise for the customer) to just replacing the whole unit? I frequently run into exactly this predicament where its often cheaper to replace than repair.
I often don't know what I'm getting into until I get into it. I keep the customer involved as much as I can on decisions I need to make regarding cost, not only on the repair bill but also other options like replacement. This particular furnace had been worked on by so many other people it was butchered. When it was done we just had to put a new motor in and clean up some wiring and I even replaced a few wires. I think the customer made the right call and just replacing the motor. It works fine besides that. So now we have another happy camper.
My furnace keeps trying to. relight when it's heating the way it's supposed to run. It starts fine but then after a minute it keeps clicking like it's trying to light it. Im thinking maybe the circuit board , sail switch or limit switch.
Glad our videos were able to help you! If you would like to support us please consider becoming an "RV Community Supporter" on our Patreon site: www.patreon.com/myrvworks
How's it going I'm watching a bunch of your videos but I'm not finding exactly what I think I need I have a 1990 full behind camper I just replace the squirrel cage but now I'm not hearing any of their clicks or the ticking noise to start the ignition anyway you could help
I haven't seen a video on how to set the heat anticipator yet, or have you not posted one yet? I'm sure mine is set properly but I want to be sure its properly adjusted
what if your fan runs because temp. is below the set temp and the gas was turned off. The blower continues but the gas was turned off by the supplier and not turned back on. fan continues and I turned the gas on. it did't lite, i had the furnace last sunner and worked fine before the tank was turned off. Is there a likely cause without removal?
Hi bud, i have an 2002 old RV and I've done numerous tests and the main issue is the blower does not turn on. I got power to it and all. Everything clicks as should but it don't turn on. I put it all back together it started working then turned off after min. The blower works when i test it manually to a battery. What can my issue be. P.S the same issue happened to my parents rv a few hours prior to mine.
Did you figure out your issue? I have the same problem. 12v into the board. If I send 12v straight to the motor it runs. I suspect the control board/ relay is bad.
Love the vids. Great info from them all. Love your methodology in the repairs. It is helping me even in my full time job It's not something I have worked on before. Thanks for all you do here on this channel. I'm here to learn what I can , if you"ll continue to doing these videos. THANK YOU.
Thanks for your comment. I am enjoying sharing my tips/tricks and as long as RV’s keep failing and folks keep calling on us to make the repairs, I will keep uploading them here.
Would you consider putting your adorable logo on ball caps to make available to your fans? I certainly would buy one and proudly wear it as a RV repair/DIY student of yours. Thank you.
Oh what an awesome idea. I have added that to my list. What I would love to do is get like a stress ball in the shape of an RV and say something like take the stress out of RV repair and have our logo on that. But I will add your idea as well. It would be exciting to have my apparel/fan store so stay tuned.
My furnace clicks and my lights go out on ever click of the furnace if I turn all lights out the furnace will fire and run good I watched all about troubleshooting and can't seem to figure it out any help is appreciated thanks
Hello from Salt Spring Island - could almost see it at the end of your video. :-) Having trouble with my RV heater, too. Let me know if you're into an all expenses paid Canadian repair adventure. haha ~ Kaeli
I'm taking HVAC classes right now and I want to work on RV's and travel to places like this. I wonder if I can make a living just traveling the country and working on RV heating and air systems along the way. My son died and I don't really have anything else to do. We were going to start a father and son heating and air conditioning business together in Texas but now I just want to travel and see all I can before I die. Shouldn't be much longer. I'll be 60 in June so I figure I may have 10 good years left before I can go see my son and Jesus.
I am sincerely sorry to hear about the loss of your son. May the Lord help lighten your burden and guide and keep you safe. I have been doing HVAC and Refrigeration for a school district and I am 62 years old. My nephews do HVAC/R also in the private sector. One will not touch residential because it is a pain in the ass dealing with homeowners, especially the women. They beg you to fix their system, then cry poor-mouth when getting the estimate or invoice. Small commercial is a good way to start out, as business owners need that system running and will pay a pretty penny to have their beer cooler back on line again or the A/C system pumping cool air in their dining room again. You should try to start out working with a smaller HVAC contractor to learn the tricks of the trade. Tech school is great, but it does not compare to on the job training. You should try to work for someone while taking classes. Both tech school and OJT training is the best way to attack it, you will learn this trade much faster. And at 62 years old, I still bust my ass on 110 degree roofs. Nothing like doing a compressor change out on a ladder access only 3 story gymnasium, where you are pulling up everything by hand, including a 75 pound compressor, pulling it up 40'by rope, one a hand at a time. And that is just the tip of the iceberg; torches, nitrogen bottle regulator, recovery cylinder, refrigerant tank, recovery machine, vacuum pump, extension cords, manifold gauges, scale, tool bag, step ladder, ultrasonic leak detector and other assorted goodies to get the system back on line; and this is always when it is hotter than hell and what goes up must come down. If you pace yourself and are in decent shape, you can make a good 10 year run at it. As far as being a travelling technician, you'd probably barely make a living. Generally most people hit the road with their system running and in working order. If the system takes a hit, they will probably wait until they get back to their home and see their local RV repair shop. If you are on the road, how will people even know your services are available. Maybe you can have a big sign on your RV and cruise through RV parks and get attention or advertise that way. But be careful to get your money up front when buying parts. Don't front the parts unless the cat looks well established and is on the road with a LATE model rig. Good luck and give it a try. If you just are doing it for a way to be constructive and make a little gas money and meet people, have at it and enjoy yourself. Best of luck and happy travels, I'll pray for your good fortune, joy and peace of mind. Someday you will be united again. As a believer, you surely have seen signs of the Almighty's extra-dimensional presence. Sometimes I forget or take it for granted what the LORD has revealed to me, but then I get a fresh reminder now and then and it is like a warm reassuring pat on the shoulder. Hang in there brother, keep the faith and may the Lord bless you.
@@FacelessMan777 Thanks John. I appreciate that and I do know that there is a lot of money to be made in HVAC if a person really hustles and works hard, but I'm not looking to make a lot of money and I have no family to support. I am not completely alone on the planet and money really means nothing to me. I know for a fact that I do not have to put a lot of effort into finding customers and drumming up business because my Heavenly Father has kept me on this planet for some reason that I can't figure out, but if I have learned nothing else, I have learned that He NEVER lets me go hungry or without whatever I need. I'm not looking to make a ton of money in HVAC or even enough to raise a family since I am well past that age. My hope for that was to see me son so it, but I will never see that now so the only thing I have left is to see what God has kept me alive for and to do whatever it is that He has left me here for and then with any luck, He will take me out of this world and let me enter into His Kingdom. I am not concerned in the least, how people would know about my services because God will let me know how to go about that. My needs are few and my faith is so much bigger than a mustard seen and I has seen with my own two eyes REPEATEDLY how my Heavenly Father has made impossible things happen for me over and over and over again so I appreciate all you have told me but little of it actually applies to me as far as how I will manage. God bless you and I pray that your life continues to unfold in a way that pleases our Heavenly Father and satisfies YOUR needs which are clearly much greater than mine.
@@alanj399 I have heard preacher's and others all my life say they can't wait for God to take them. " I wish God would come back today". I think that is wrong, God gave us life to live and saying things like that is not being appreciative of his gift to us, live your life loving the lord and be looking forward to more day's on this wonderful earth, let God decide how long that will be and you worry about how you are going to live it.
Alan, I am so sorry for such a difficult loss. I hope you have been able to pursue your goal; I know it must be a heartache not to fulfill that dream with your son as intended. Feel free to reach out at info@myrvworks.com anytime. You'll be in our prayers.
How much did this end up costing the customer? I can get a new unit for around $400 but would prefer to have you save mine. I can drive to you 1985 34ft class A cross country by sportscoach
You need to verify your getting voltage coming back from the sail switch into the control board. If you look at the wiring schematic you should be able to determine which wire that is (usually blue wire but sometimes it's red.) On my website you might be able to find the service manual for your furnace that will be helpful. myrvworks.com/manuals/

If the blower doesn't turn on it can be either the motor, relay switch or the circuit board right?

We have to turn the furnace off then back on and then it warms up to the set temp. Sometimes it can work properly all day. Sometimes we will have to turn it off then back on gain. What could be the problem?
Repair starts at 5:20
You're the real MVP Hard rock!
Well my fans good so now idk what my prob is. It clicks from the controller but no fan no nothing. No power going to fan but connected 12v to fan and it turns on
Thank you
I have a different problem on my furnace.
Thoughts?
Im having issues with my suburban RP-30N its a year old. Ignites 3x and shuts off. Any ideas?
So it was the motor itself?
I was wondering if you have any idea why the fan motor on my hf 8012 twitches once a second and does a quarter turn when the thermostat wires are connected. It's also not doing anything when I engage the sail switch manually. My intuition tells me the motor is actually spinning the wrong way when it does twitch on for that split second, but I'm not sure what way it's actually supposed to go, so I may just be stupid! 😂
If this motor clicks and the blower does not start does that mean the motor is bad? That is what is happening to mine. Im gonna go buy a voltmeter tomorrow to be sure.
Get to it man.
Could a blower motor temporarily start working again? Just finished replacing the sail switch, then the circuit board which initially fixed the issue but now the furnace is not working, clicks but no fan turns on again
If your sail switch is stuck closed, then the furnace will not try to start the motor. Have a look at that sail switch again.
Good job !
@MyRVWorks I replaced the board. It works now. The board was fried.
So grateful for this guy.

We also have a lot of service manuel's on our website resources tab: myrvworks.com/manuals/
@@MyRVWorks thank you very much. Your videos are great and so helpful. I’ve saved not only time but money as well by doing things myself. I’ve recommended your channel to several new camper owners as well.
Thank you for sharing your knowledge. Love all the videos.
Thanks for watching, happy camping.
Thank you for making this video because you answered my query
It starts fine but then after a
minute it keeps clicking like
it's trying to light it. Im thinking maybe the circuit board , sail switch or limit switch.
Thank you for your no bull way of explaining thingf

How's it going I'm watching a bunch of your videos but I'm not finding exactly what I think I need I have a 1990 full behind camper I just replace the squirrel cage but now I'm not hearing any of their clicks or the ticking noise to start the ignition anyway you could help
My blower is blowing air and I can hear it clicking trying to ignite the gas but it never does. Any tips?
I haven't seen a video on how to set the heat anticipator yet, or have you not posted one yet? I'm sure mine is set properly but I want to be sure its properly adjusted
This helped me alot
what if your fan runs because temp. is below the set temp and the gas was turned off.
Sure would like to see a video on replacing a fan motor on a Suburban SF-30 Furnace?
Also one on the SF-42 in a Winnebago Chieftain in the rear above the bumper.
Man that RV on the beach has some serious water damage in the walls you can see from a long way off. If it hits a big bump it may just fall apart.
My furness reset button tripping when furness are done cooling down?
Shouldn't you start any diagnostic/repair with theory of operation though
Thanks for fixing our cougar trailer
Love the vids. Great info from them all. Love your methodology in the repairs. It is helping me even in my full time job
It's not something I have worked on before.
When it happens, we could care less about the other possible problems. It clicks and that's it.
So what happens when the furnace kicks on but no heat.
Blower works
At the furnace the 2 blue wires turned my furnace on....not at the thermostat....so I'm replacing my thermostat
Hello, I am having the same issue as you, did you find out what was causing the problem?
Hello from Salt Spring Island - could almost see it at the end of your video. :-)
Having trouble with my RV heater, too. Let me know if you're into an all expenses paid Canadian repair adventure. haha
~ Kaeli
What is the issue? Have you watched my other furnace video's? ua-cam.com/play/PLk44vSl27TRCaZIQbm-0utYK7sVOKwXVY.html
My Atwood furnace run about 30 seconds an cut of , then start back up about 30 seconds over an over
replace the board
what if you dont hear nothing everything has power and the heater in not kicking on
What would it b if it dont click
No click when I touch the wires together. No fan , nothing. I believe I’m looking at the relay?
I believe I need a new relay....tested the blower with a 12v source and it works independently. ....any tips?
My suburban will not start unless 2 blue wires are connected, tried new thermostat and still nothing
Terry helpfull
How much did this end up costing the customer? I can get a new unit for around $400 but would prefer to have you save mine. I can drive to you 1985 34ft class A cross country by sportscoach
Sorry just got to the end of the video. I’m in Bonney lake but can go anywhere on the peninsula lol
150 per hour...2 trips + motor
My furnas runs but i dont here a click and it dont throw heat where do i start?
You need to verify your getting voltage coming back from the sail switch into the control board. If you look at the wiring schematic you should be able to determine which wire that is (usually blue wire but sometimes it's red.) On my website you might be able to find the service manual for your furnace that will be helpful. myrvworks.com/manuals/
it seems like you have a case where you fond the problem very quickly OR you skipped lots of your troubleshooting in the video!
Not out gas propane why?
Not sure if this is a statement or a question.
Maybe if you worked as much as you talked we could get something done! Good lord!!
