People go on about how it doesn't sound like the original 606 etc. Well, this is not the original 606, it's not meant to be that. It does so much more, takes the same concept to the next level. Great job !

Just like people hate on the Rd-6 by behringer, they say “ITS NOT EXACT!!!”
It does sound like the 606 when using the 606 sounds. IT ALSO HAS 909 and 808 sounds to choose from.
It sounds close enough to me, but with the extra sounds and FX. Roland's ACB is actually amazing, it goes way beyond most 'virtual analogue' engines, I'm glad to see now that the general consensus is that their ACB technology is great. People didn't like it at first but only because Roland didn't do fully analogue reissues, once they got over that then they realised that ACB is just as good for most things

Thanks for doing this! Dustin absolutely does the best demos/tutorials. These Long & McQuade videos are the only demos I've watched more than once (except for one SP-404MK2 demo by SPITLOGIC which I found very easy to follow). Honestly the bar is low for 'tutorials' on UA-cam. Most of them are from people just churning out content and not from people who have spent actual time with the product. I've watched Justin's JX-08 demo about five times. I love the JX-08, but the envelopes are a tricky and if weren't for Dustin's demo I would probably just use the presets and wiggle the cutoff a little. Because he actually shows how to do something. He goes over the features in the context of a legit workflow. That works for me. The 'video manual' videos don't really help me understand much.

It sounds like you might have a faulty unit. If you purchased it and Long & McQuade in Canada, please bring it back to the store for a warranty replacement or repair. Thanks.

Silly question. Is it somehow possible to use TR-06 as a midi controller and feed it by custom bass drum etc. sounds via DAW?

Not a silly question at all. Yes it has MIDI in and out, so you can send MIDI data from the TR-06 into your DAW and use any virtual instrument you want with it.

The Roland TR606 was well known for its AWESOME hihats... just not felling them in the TR-06, they dont sound as sharp and crisp
There better than the behringer rd6 that's for sure...

No "real" drum sounds ...... disappointing. They're beating the old 80's trash can sound to death. I sold my 606 long ago because it sounded like a broken toy.
None of these drum machines are intended to replicate "real" acoustic drum sounds. Even if you were able to load in one-shot samples of acoustic drums, the lack of dynamics and a human's sway in time would still make it sound robotic. Have you heard of the Uncanny Valley? A real human playing on a real acoustic drum kit is pleasing to our ears because it's recognizable and familiar. A machine playing machine-like sounds is also pleasing to our ears because it's so far removed from reality that we don't really relate it to what's "human". But if you tried to get a machine to play "real, human-created" drum samples, that'd fall into the Uncanny Valley and be very offputting.
