    I love my TR06
It is the dark horse of the range , not as well known as 808 or 909 but once you’ve heard a 606 it’s just as recognisable.
it’s got that gritty edge to it that the others don’t have.
and when you dial in those on board affects the doors of creativity just open up.
    It’s a techno producers dream
An absolute beast of a drum machine

Used a 606 and a 303 with my first band back in 1983/4, so buying one of these was tringed with a little nostalgia, However, I haven't had so much fun with a drum machine ... well ever I don't think ... sounds great and the ability to alter the sounds gives it something the original never had. The greatest fun has been syncing it up to my modular and my other synths, especially to the Mono/Poly's arpeggiator ... absolutely love it ... and you are right, definitely the dark horse of the Boutiques.

Great vid Zach. Like me you’re a 606 lover. I had the 606 & TB-303 back in 1982 and still use them today. Also own a TR-06 and TR-08. Both are great.
A HUGE a unique feature of the TR-06 that is overlooked is the TRIGGER in for interfacing purposes.
Think about it, and I’ve tested this, for early non midi, non DIN sync 24 drum machines but with a trigger out like the Boss DR-55 or a Roland CR-78 or a Korg KPR-77 you can send a trigger out from those beloved machines to the TR-06 trigger in and they will sync in time. Then from that the TR-06 will spit out Midi out timing to sync with any Midi gear. It’s a dream come true if you’ve always wanted to integrate those very old drum machines.

Ordered it as soon as it came out. It’s one of the best boutiques out period. The sounds are very tweak-able.

My problem with the TR-06 is: Why no individual outputs? I buy a hardware drum machine because I want to make music away from the PC. If I want to make music with the PC then I use a TR-606 plug-in.
With analog, individual outputs, the device would be versatile. I can hang a different effects device behind each output. Or pan the instruments with my mixer. It's great fun.
I will choose the Behringer RD-6. Not because it's cheaper. Because it offers me what I expect from a drum machine.
    Greetings from Germany!

Agreed, individual outs opens a world of possibilities. I don't want my instruments to have effects built in, personally.

Because this is a boutique, it’s a tiny portable tribute to an old product. If you want their pro drum machine get the TR-8s

Perhaps they wanted to capture the simplicity of the original. Simplicity was what made gear from that era so great, what you needed to make great music but no more.

The sound of the 06 is quite good, enjoyed the demo. The ultimate 606 for me is the RE-606 by Din Sync, the nice thing about analog with through hole components is they can be repaired. If something breaks on the 06 or even the Behringer clone with SMD parts, it's likely toast. The original 606 is delicate and can be a pain to repair, hence the reason I champion the RE-606.

Gosh Zach, you're really killing it with these demo jams! I especially love what you do with the on-board delay!

This is the last convincing I need. Am now going to buy it before it disappears.

The TR-06 is an amazing drum machine, and a huge improvement over the original TR-606 with more sounds, effects and so many new things. I have all the TR boutique machines and the TR-06 it's my favorite. Maybe it doesn't have the classic 808 or 909 sounds, but it has effects and a lot of modern features.

I just played the TR06 today. Wow. BIG FUN.
...A Child can work that thing.
And I guess THAT'S the turn off for consumers. It's Too Simple.
To find the Goodness. You can't over work the Knobs.
You need patience to catch those lil special tones that YOU'D easily miss with a Drunken Twerk. Lbvs.
IMO. The TR06 is a Knife.
    Right to the Point.

Thanks for this video! I love my TR-06, it's so flexible and wonderful.
When you say 5:40 that the parameter control for the circuit bending is all in a menu, that's actually only half true - MENU and the effect knobs allow you to change quite a few of those parameters (tuning and decay time for each, as well as one special parameter per instrument).
If there's anything not optimal about the machine, it's that there are so many button combinations to remember. I might make a cheatsheet for myself.

This guy sounds like he's describing a Shakespeare play. He's in love with his own knowledge. 4 minutes in and I haven't learned anything useful
