To me it looked like you really had 100hp more than e46 but it pulls away in corner exists. I think this was a perfect example how power needs to be matched with components to eliminate bottlenecks..

So with hard suspension, the lateral force is absorbed by the tire more than suspension, producing more grip, more consistent grip and car is not tilted, so you have lower center of gravity
I appreciate his honesty but it’s a hard position for him to be in to say anything. Hopefully most owners can accept the advice and “not let it affect their pride”. I love his commentary about parts and car and the track etc…

This does really not look like 480hp... I mean, take it with a grain of salt because it's pretty inaccurate (and it's not on a straigt road really), but going by tachometer and timestamp at the start of the lap, it took around 11 sec 100 - 200 km/h. I think stock is ~12-ish sec with 340hp. Also would check out with the E46 M3 being slightly faster or par. Both cars also pretty much weigh the same actually (M3 ~1570kg, M240i ~1565kg). So I think Misha is pretty much spot on with the suspicion of around 380hp instead of 480hp.
i am using m240i xdrive.i am also using mhd stage 2. but it depends on the amount of ethanol you put in, it can be 420 horsepower. apparently it wasn't like 480 hp
Well, the steering wheel feeling of the 1M really is trash against those e46 or older gens, imho! Assistance is great ratio but idk why you just loose so much feel when comparing to e46 M3 or even E92 from which it has the front end.
Suspensions soft cause it has adjustable suspension and adaptive dampers. You were in comfort mode, should’ve put it in sport +, which would’ve stiffened the suspension, added more weight to the steering, and given you access to all 480 bhp since it’s a valved exhaust. Also the m235i and m235ir had the n55 engine, with the m240i switching to the b58 engine. Edit- after further along in the video, I realized misha turned on sport + halfway through the video.
Misha, unless you let off during the first pull along the straight, the 100-200KPH (even just using the speedo measurement and not GPS speed) looks to be around 10.5-11.5 seconds. Definitely not 480BHP if that's the case! I have an M240i with a stage 2+ BM3 tune and it will do 100-200 GPS in 7.5-8 seconds depending on the weather. It'd probably look like less than that if you were just looking at the speedo too. BM3 stage 2+ will be something like 450-480BHP.

This is the biggest issue with people getting coilovers and I've seen it twice first hand, people buying them and assuming they are ready to go from the box without paying any attention or learning how the car adapts to different ride heights, spring stiffness and damper adjustments.
The KW V3 is fine out of the box: - on a road car - but NOT suited for a track use! …and also not matching with semi slicks. The tyre offset much less than the stock car which makes the springs even softer
Another tuned M240i with the handling of a Vietnam riverboat. Seems to be a uk thing when M140/240i owners go straight for 450+ when they should address the poor chassis first. LSD, M4 LCA’s, bracing, bushes, decent coil overs before POWAAA. Always many tuned examples of these on autotrader with standard chassis, maybe lowering springs and spacers if you are lucky 🙈I guess it’s all about ‘gapping’ on dual carriage ways though right?
E46 M3 driver was driving to the cars full potential but this M240i was a disappointment in the performance department. He needs to get the engine mapping done by someone who knows the B58 well and the suspension/geo setup properly.
The engine could make 1000 bhp and it still wouldn't make any difference to the floppy, unsuitable suspension. Unfortunately most people just go for the headline figure.
Failed the MSoP Test...Misha Seat of Pants, what better way to test a car HP figures mean nothing if you cant put it down to the ground. Well Done Misha Buddy.....careful though Buddy the speeds you are driving I would wear at least a crash helmet and some eye protection. Gotta love your passenger for his running commentary as well
KW V3 is great For ROAD use. But for TRACK its too soft. An the wider wheels (smaller offset) of this wide body conversion make the soft V3 spring rates even softer in reality

My BM3 stage 2+ with Supra high pressure fuel pump is marginally quicker than the stage 1 power (7.5-8 seconds 100-200KPH versus 8.2-8.4 stage 1) but I have seen dyno runs from other cars supposedly around 480BHP with similar 100-200 times. I haven't had mine on a dyno though and it's hard to know which ones to trust, but a lot of 500-600HP saloon cars produce similar 100-200 times with a bit more weight. The M240s really fly because they're so light compared to loads of other stuff on sale today!

im not misha, but you should be fine going in stock as long as you dont go full ham. if you want to go ham, id recommend upgrading brakes due to possible fading issues

For just 5 laps you will be fine as long as the current components are in good condition. Monitor the brake pressure while driving and back off once the pedal starts becoming soft.
Two things come to mind: 1) is that "really" 480hp? or is that other BMW nicely modded as well. 2) eye opening to see how much gas is needed for one lap.
Henry Catchpole reviewed this car for Carfection a few years ago. Pretty unique road car but also feels pretty pointless as the M2 exists. Could explain why only one exists…

Yep, spring rates are all wrong for the track hence the bottoming out and riding the bump stops but this is a better example of just how shitty the damping setup is on the sub-M cars.
I like soft suspension, it's not useless if you're style works with it. People get used to following the same code without question, eventually it becomes group think. Having a loose ass end creates more grip than having the dime a dozen setup, but yeah the front end should be lightly stiffer than the rear not arguing that.
Always had that lawnmower feel with this brand which I never had in the Audi's I drove. Maybe I renew my experience driving something like this (once I've redone all electronics aircraft style so I can put some trust into the system 😁)

If you cannot drive significantly faster (straight line) with a 480hp M240 which should do 8s 100-200kmh than the E46 M3 which is doing 11-12s 100-200kmh you know sth is wrong with these claimed 480hp ;)

KW V3 are really a good suspension, his just needs to be stiffened a bit , I’ve got bilstein b16’s which are pretty much the equivalent and handles great

True, engine is the last part you tune on a sports car; clut, bushing, suspension, aero...
M240 with 2/3fuel and 200kg. M3 with driver like me e.g., 60kg. M3 may be with semi slicks a lot wider than 245 on 240. And so on.....

Now my car tuned BM3 stage 2 now it does it in 8.9 sec.around 426 hp

So new springs for the kw3 and new brake pads, bit of weight saving will make it miles better

on the video the KW V3 looked more like a stock suspension wibbling all around hahaaha.
That's the problem with this type of hardware...the assembly isn't too complicated, but without knowing, the adjustment could be a mountain to climb.

If you cannot drive significantly faster (straight line) with a 480hp M240 which should do 8s 100-200kmh than the E46 M3 which is doing 11-12s 100-200kmh you know sth is wrong with these claimed 480hp ;)
@@vollcare4076 The nurburgring isnt about 100-200kmh times in a straight line. It has corners, it requires skill, and most importantly, it requires a car with a good setup of balance including brakes and suspension.

KW V3 are really a good suspension, his just needs to be stiffened a bit , I’ve got bilstein b16’s which are pretty much the equivalent and handles great
