as a horsey person i give props to rockstar for accuracy with the stats, irl arabians are known for speed/stamina and are pretty skittish
It's a shame about the andalusian though. They are much larger in real life, really brave too

TheKittyQueen Akhal tekes aka turkomans are also pretty skittish in real life,not only that but they are quite uncomfortable to ride as they can be pretty moody sometimes.The polish bred Arabians are actually quite different then the ones in the Middle East,they are a lot less skittish.
In my first play through, I was spending time hunting in the mountains for fun and came across the white Arabian that can be found up there. I didn’t know anything about it other than that it was beautiful, and that became my horse all the way to the end. She was amazing. Her name was Nellie (sigh... unoriginal, I know, but it worked for me)
Now on my second play through months later, I have a mustang, and I love it, but will always have fond memories of that first love. I went up to the mountains again, hunting, and saw the white Arabian from a distance. I almost went to it, but decided to let it be. Sentimental in an odd way, I know, but that was my first Arthur’s horse. This time through, it deserves to live out there in the wild.
Anyway, that’s the kind of emotion this game inspires, for me anyway. Love these horse videos!

In my first play through I had like thousands of horses because I kept killing them by accident
i always found Arabians way too small on my character, felt like im going to break its back any moment.

k y There are two more wild Arabians in single-player mode now. A pure red Arabian spawns near Owanjila lake and another is near the Wapiti Reservation. The Wapiti horse is red with some white stripes I think.
Arabian is my favorite even though they've fed me to wolves a few times lol.
@Matt Johnston, Arabian was my first horse breed during my first play through. It was the Rose Gray one. I was able to get it in chapter 2 for free and I was able to maximized to level 4 bonding before chapter 3. But everytime I encounter a pack of wolves, gators and a bear. He always throw me off his back. But he never back down to any gun fight.

Won't lie, it happened to me a few times on my first playthrough. I think I adapted after that though. At the first sign of trouble, which the horse will typically notice before you do, I just accelerate away from the danger for about a second. After that, the horse will calm down enough not to buck you off and then you have the time and space to refocus and decide what you want to do. I've played this game 4X, using an Arabian as much as possible, and honestly haven't been bucked off for so long that I stopped worrying about it altogether.

You literally just summarized my stance on the Arabians, well done! I have a level 4 bonded white Arabian right now in the epilogue, and I’m starting to forget the stories of ppl getting bucked off. My Arabian has run over a wolf, remained loyal to me in the gator infested swamp, and was free

@@matthollingsworth5943 I've found that the red chestnut does alot better with predators early on. Mine has stared down a cougar at level 2 bonding and had run circles around a wolf pack at level 4
Indeed, 2 days ago I was passing the river near Riggs Station, my Arabian stand put in front of 2 Cougars simultaneously.
At times I have seen Missouri Fox trotter and Mustang's bucking me off when they noticed a Snake etc.
I have fought Giant Bears with my Arabian.
The other day I also chased down the legendary panther while riding white Arabian or Black one.
The horses bucking off depends on the situation, mood and a lot of things come into picture.
Right now I own 4 Arabian horses in online mode. 2 black (1M/1F), 1F white Arabian & 1F Red Chestnut Arabian.
My next fav horse after Arabian is Missouri Fox Trotter (Blue coat). Dang that horse is literally amazing!
However the most attractive horse in this game as per me is going to be Turkoman (Dark bay coat only). The white socks, black hairs & Brown skin looks so beautiful all together. Really tall & slim built, etc. The worst part of Turkoman is that they get scared very easily, if any horses in this game get scared easily then it should be Turkoman and not Arabian.

Since this is an old videos, many of you should know by now that the beautiful red chestnut Arabian is now available in story mode for PS4, Xbox, and PC. Note that there is also the Warped Brindle Arabian which is also in story mode in the mountains near the Indian reservation.

Like your comment about “the best horse in the right hands” I pretty much only ride the Arabian (I also happen to ride them in real life) and when it came to being ‘spooky” as a lot of players grumble about I found that if I go into combat and keep my Arabian on the move I can run circles around wolves or bears you name it so long as I keep him in motion he’s happy. This has come in super handy on missions where suddenly a grizzly is charging at me in the night, I just keep going circles and keep my flighty horse in motion and I always manage to get the shot off I need and don’t get bucked off. If I want him to stand still and face something he’s a lot more unhappy so I just got good at making kill shots while on the move. Couldn’t ask for a better horse when in a fight with bandits as his spins and stops and moves are untouchable!
Same here, if shes on the move with wind in her eyes, she couldnt care less arthurs just robbed a train.
Even though they are skittish, I feel like after bonding to max they warn you pretty early for you to react appropriately

I'm on my 4th playthrough, I think, and I've never even ridden an Arabian with the exception of the Black Arabian in the mission "Horse Meat for Dinner" with John. Their small size has always turned me off. I like medium sized horses.

I agree but it always depends what I'm doing. I like to own 2-3 horses if I'm going up in the mountains or hunting ima take my Halfbred or warhorse right but if im scootin around St.Denis I absolutely want a smaller more agile horse like the Arabian

Arabians are intelligent horses, perceptive, sensitive, and thoughtful, not only in the sense of being considerate and gentle toward people and other animals, but also in thinking out situations for themselves. They have a reputation for being difficult among those who have tried to force them to do something against their will, but they are extremely courageous and will try their best for someone they trust. As they originated in hot climates, they are fine-skinned and have all the physical characteristics facilitating easy heat-loss from the body, but tend not to be so sensitive to cold weather as the Thoroughbred. They can usually be handled by novices and children, provided those concerned have a regard for their nature and a sensitivity toward them.
I find the Arabians are unpredictable and temperamental mounts until you get to max bonding. My black Arabian in online called Nocturne was a nutcase when I first got him, but now he's a very chill horse and very reliable in pretty much all situations. It's all about the bonding, bois.
Notes from a IRL equestrian (don’t get annoyed, this is just for those who’d like some facts):
“White” is actually grey (true whites are albino)
The “Red Chestnut” is actually a bay, as it has a black mane and tail and nose instead of the same as it’s coat color

The rose grey bay is technically correct- rose grey is a shade of grey that can appear on a bay or chestnut base. I was gonna make the same comment that “these colors are so wrong lol” haha.
Edit* Also true white in horses is not albino! There are no known albino horses. However there is the Dominant White gene, which produces a true white horse (depending on the specific W gene, as some produce a sabino like marking)
@Arthur's Horse it's a myth that albinos have to have red eyes. Depending on the reflective color of the retina, will result in a different color of what is reflected when there is an absence of melanin in the iris. Ie, Rodents are red, humans are blue. Albinism is the absence of melanin a protein that is associated with skin color and eye color. So, a albino horse, is indeed ... possible. However genetically speaking with the variation in coats, the genes that code for horses the mutation is harder to pinpoint
@Arthur's Horse they're not truly albino because there has been no mutation found that is linked to albinism in other mammals. It's not because their eyes aren't red. That mutation could be found at any point......
@Arthur's Horse did you read my comment? I just explained why they aren't true albino but why they could also be true albino. If the gene mutates or of it is discovered then bang you have a true albino.
The classification of albino is the absence of melanin not being produced by meloncytes, the scientific mutation is the mutation of a C gene with codes for the proteins that melanin is produced with. In horses the coat is co-dominant which means both black and white alleles are dominant, with the white allele there is no melonocytes. Making it not a true albino but if the c gene mutates or is reported you will get an albino horse.

In story mode one day wondering in the woods i was able to tame a red chesnut arabian. Now he is fully bonded and is a great horse
Fun Fact, Modern weapons which included Hand cannon were used by Mamelukes during the period of 1200 to 1500. At that time, hand guns were never used due to inaccuracy and inefficiency, specially on horses which used to panic very often. However, Arabian horses, due to their intelligent and loyal nature, didn't run away when Mamelukes used hand guns on their back. Thus giving them significant advantage against Mongols, because Mongol horses used to panic due to the loud blasts of hand cannons.
Battle on Ain Jalut was strategically won by Mamelukes against Mongols.
It is worth noting that Mongols had conquered almost whole of Asia and many Europeans territories, and were spreading with increasing speed, Mongols did try again against Mamelukes, but many Mongolian Territories like Golden Horde and Ottomans had accepted Islam, thus Mongols were attacked by them before they ever reached Mamelukes.

Since Rockstar updated and added a wild red chestnut, that's what has made me actually use an arabian. The red chestnut (in previous playthroughs for me,) It has never kicked me off in the sight of predator's and it rarely decides I should die to a gator. I always get it as a male and always call it Diablo. If anyone wants it's location, find Strawberry on the map and go along the road north of the owanjila. (It's location is close to it.) When you find a broken wagon, get your binoculars out. You can glimpse it upwards to the left on a hill. I got mine as early as the start of chapter 2 and it's an easy mount to bond with. (Than the white arab.)

Dutch's horse is not a Arabian, it's a Cremelo Dutch Warmblood, but ok

@@emiliegee7669 If you go up to The Count and check it’s stats it will clearly say “Albino” and it’s WAY to small to be a Dutch Warmblood. Buell compared to The Count shows some huge differences. Buell is taller, bigger, and has a different shaped face, Buell is a Dutch Warmblood.

I just found your videos and I'm loving your horse series.
My first play through, I caught the white Arabian at the end of chapter 2. Had some ups and downs at first but I ended up keeping that horse till the end, named it shadowfax. I love the way it controls, I personally like that horse the best out of the entire game. I have played the game 4 times now and have and always will stick to my white Arabian
I used to have a red chestnut called cola.... she was a great horse and served me really well. Even if she wasn’t with the best of the best stats, she was like a ruby to me unlike all other horses in rdr 2 but she died in the ending. I got her in chapter 3 RIP cola. You will never be forgotten
With my experience, the white Arabian can be quite suborn, I suggest saving your game when you find the horse

I'm so glad you mentioned how well this horse does in combat. From my experience, it is war horse. A war horse that is damn fast, accelerates at will, turns on a dime, and can take a load of punishment. The skittish stuff isn't much of an issue; just don't veer too close to the alligators and all should be fine.

For those replaying the game. The Black Arabian spawns at the St. Denis Gunsmith at night and got it twice because I lost the first, I think it was bugged. Good alternative to the White Arabian if you want.

On my first playthrough I tried to get the white Arabian several times....
Attempt 1: I mounted it and it jumped into some trees then threw me off. I couldn't find it afterwards.
Attempt 2: It ran away from me but a blizzard set it making seeing anything impossible.
Attempt 3: I mounted it and it bucked me. I mounted it and it trusted me. I was so excited and I rode back to my little campsite when the horse tripped and fell, snapping its neck causing it to die. I then gave up after that.
Ugh! I miss your videos where are you lady? Lol. Cannot wait for the Thoroughbred video. Seems to me the Brindle in particular must have a really high hidden courage stat. I've had better luck with it against predators than even my favs the Turk and Fox Trotters. Want to see if your experience is similar.

In the epilogue I had an amazing mustang named Fancy. She ran over wolves, jumped alligators, and was always there when I wanted to spend a few nights out to go hunting. I loved her large neck, and confident stance.

@@Will-bk6jh well, there is speculation that Rockstar also worked in a feature where individual horse have different personalities. like one arabian could be afraid of its own shadow, while another, identical arabian could stare down a cougar and give no shits. if so, that's probably why

If you have no problems making quick and clean kills to predators and enemies in battle, then it won’t throw you. If you take forever take enemies and predators down and your aim isn’t that good, you’ll hate Arabian. It’s like she said, in the right hands it’s the best horse.
As much as I do love some of the other breeds, I have a big soft spot for my black arabian (plus she was free from that random encounter)
I love my black arabian, she suprisingly hasn't bucked for anything even predators and is pretty good in combat, named her Jasmine. i didn't know about the encounter in St. Denis with the arabian until now. Got mine at the end of the game

I must have a different version of the game. Fred my black Arabian is sturdy as steel he never bucks me of and leaves black marks when I can't handle the lead.
I have a female black arabian and she is fearless, on the other hand I have a bay roan Adrennes that is scared of her own shadow lol
It’s different to horse to horse, ive seen mustangs scared shitless of a snake, and my horse pegasos (rip) wasnt scared at all, of anything, she would just run like no other. God i miss her
Not bugged. Purchased a black arabian in online taking one hell of a gamble....he’s the bravest horse I’ve ever ridden. Even when he runs he stays near like 20 feet or so. Couldn’t believe how loyal is either. My online character and Blackjack were made for each other lol
I started a new game about a month ago specifically to steal the BA in St Denis. So far I've been able to stare down a bear and a panther, and get swarmed by wolves and every time my horse has been practically fearless. It's to the point where I'm honestly wondering if the game glitched on me, lol.

I found the red Chestnut Arabian playing in story mode in the area west of strawberry where the map ends. It was roaming around a waterfall if I remember correctly. I didn't think much of it when I saw save for the fact that I liked how the red pigmentation shined under the sun so I captured it. I didnt save the location but I can confirm this horse it's not only available online.
I found white Arabian up in the grizzlies during my second playthrough. It was by complete luck and I had to spend about half an hour attempting to train it as I never really attempted to train one before, named her Bessa, Great horse.

Alexis nah I think the Arabian is the best. My white Arabian Epona rarely bucks me off and it even ran over an alligator at one point
This happened a few days:
I went with my favorite horse to tame the white Arabian, a Dutch Warmblood named Isabela (guess the coat). The momente we found her we started heading home, but night caught us in the middle of the forest, and then suddenly a pack of like 10 wolves started chasing us, the Arabian is faster than them, but although Isabela could outrun them, she was caught, separated from us.
Fueled by anger, I grabbed my shotgun an killed [bang] every... [bang] ...one [bang] on sight, we even ended chasing down the remaining ones, outmaneuvering them. After we reached the stables in Valentine, I named her "Artemis", after the mistress of the hunt and the moon.
I had my doubts of the breed because of the info in the internet, and although she runs away after I get down from lassoing an animal, I know that she's a reliable steed (most of the time), and as a good rider is on her saddle, she'll go to through Hell itself.
Edit: Do you know what activity gives the most money in the online game? Accidentally deleted my starter horse and now I'm stuck with a sack of bones
Thank you. I've been playing with the white on my first playthrough as early as chapter 2 and she was beyond outstanding. I was fanboying over the foxtrotter until I compared them, nothing comes close to the arabian in my opinion. And they're loyal too, my foxtrotter would trot off into oblivion as soon as I dismount

I bought myself a black Arab and named her Maverick. I'm a good rider and I fully bond my horse and practise one the different breeds. But that horse...I sold that twat the second she was fully bonded.
Every time I would try to explore she'd spill me. Just not worth the frustration.
I do agree with Henry about the fox trotters. They may look nice but they are lazy punks. Very clumsy as well. Mine never spooked as much as the Arab but he tripped on everything. When called hed come half way and then just stop and wonder away again. I love the different personalities but dang
@@sombrs44 Damn, my Fox Trotter is the most loyal horse right next to my tiger mustang. I almost never crash, and even when l think "oh fuck imma go flying" she straight up avoids the obstacle on her own, and I can just chill and shoot most predators around us with a bow, My arabian l literally only use for races though.

You must know there is also a warped brindle Arabian and you can get the red chestnut Arabian in story mode, you get the warped brindle west of wapiti in the mountains and the red chestnut west of owanjila in the forests near the whale fossil

I got attacked by a group of O'Driscoll's not too far from Flatneck Station. They set up an ambush at the top the hill as you move up from the Dakota River area. One of them had the Rose Grey Arabian, which I gladly took as my own. I've played the game through a few times now, but have yet to see it spawn as an O'Driscoll horse again. 🤔
Very informative video! Well done! However, I think it would be even better if you included the price and rank unlocks of these horses on Red Dead Online as well. Also including the fact that the Rose Grey Bay isn't avaliable in Online would be nice too. :)

About the free black Arabian: I had the encounter with the couple three times, but never at the spot showed in the video. For me, it was at the crossroad above the barbier in Saint Denis, always around midnight. If you come from the barbier, you have to ride straight ahead and they'll be standing next to the first house to your left. The black arabian should be hitched up at a fence a few meters further back. It's hidden in the shadows and hard to see without using eagle eye. I never got a bounty for adopting it ;) Good luck!

The red chestnut is actually a bay lol. A chestnut would have a red or blonde mane and tail, and would lack the black points (legs, muzzle, area around eyes, mane and tail).

You can get the red chestnut in rdr2 as well as a warped. They can only spawn once and cannot be bought or gotten off np’s.

Arabian is my second favorite horse after dark bay turkoman, everyone always said that Arabian is too skittish or something but i dont care, Because every horse gets agitated anyway, also the speed, the acceleration and the handling of Arabian is so good it outweighs the skittishness of that horse

When I used to use a White Arabian, it used to buck me at the sight of a snake. But I bought a Rose Grey Bay in the Epilogue and it was amazing! It never bucked me, I even trampled alligators with ease.

i had a black one :) i got him near the end of chapter 4, and i named him fisher, fish for short. he was so amazing and i miss him every day and literally cried so hard at the end of the game. i hope he’s happy in horsey heaven, he did me so well.

I cried when my horse Calypso, a gold Turkoman died with Arthur comforting him and saying his goodbye, miss him so much, haven't had that horse since. He was a good horse. And I love my black arabian, that I have with John, she is a brave girl
I found a red chestnut Arabian by accident while I was hunting cougars. Around the lake but going further up the hill. It was just standing their. I was about to get it but my horse was a Suffolk punch and I got lazy. Plus I scared it off by accident. Yeah, kicking myself for having pursued it
blackearl7891 yeah, they got added in during the 1.15 (I believe) update. Basically, they got added in the beginning of December 2019, alongside a brindle Arabian, few spotted Appaloosa, Perlino Andalusian, buttermilk buckskin Kendrick saddler, liver chestnut Morgan, and a gold palomino Tennessee Walker. And yes, the red chestnut Arabian does indeed spawn near lake owanjila.

At first I didn’t really like the Arabians simply due to size since I’m a big, bulky war horse lover. I still feel they are too small for Arthur (I main the iron grey Ardennes for him) but I love them online for my smaller female character :D

The skittishness is actually an advantage when you're hunting or when you're on foot because the horse will just run a little ways away and not get killed and you can always whistle and bring him back
