  • Yes! I did cover this entire sewing machine in rhinestones. No, I have no plans to do it again!
    Learn all about the story of this Baby Lock Zest that I covered in Rhinestones as I sew a simple zippered pouch (and mess up the sewing in the process). I answer the most commonly asked questions, including:
    Can you still use this sewing machine?
    How much did it cost?
    How long did it take?
    How did you do the logos?
    Would you do it again?
    ... and more!
    This machine is a Baby Lock Zest: babylock.com/m...
    If I were to do this again, I'd do a Baby Lock Zeal: babylock.com/m...

      Thanks!! I've had that one a while ... I think the pattern was for a quilt from Annie's? And then I added binding when doing a project for Nancy's Notions. I love the colors on that one, and the cross-hatched quilting. 🥰

    People can be so opinionated about things that aren't the slightest concern to them. While your machine isn't something I would probably want, I think she's sassy and oh so cute! My question is how much affect did the addition of bling add to the weight of the machine? Btw, I'm so impressed with your commitment and follow through with this project. The fact that you then did others is mind blowing!

    • @CarolinaMoore
      @CarolinaMoore  8 місяців тому +4

      I've learned that by putting myself on the internet, I've opened myself up to critique. At this point, I have a pretty thick skin about it, so it doesn't really bother me.
      And I do need to weigh the machine to see how heavy it is now! That would be interesting to know!

It seems that it is also a tribute of sorts to your Mom and Dad because you have something physical to have along with your memories of the 'special' time of your Dad's passing. I lost my husband last fall. We were in the hospital for a week. I didn't leave the last 4 days, thanks to my sister for keeping me going and together. And my son was getting married that week too. Anyway, I can't imagine not being able to be with a loved one during that time.

    I’m sorry to hear of your Dad’s passing. My condolences to you and your family. It was a blessing to have enough talent to create such a work of art with your machine at a time when you were suffering loss. We all need things to keep our minds occupied if only for a short while during those times in our lives. Sometimes ppl can be so negative but overlook their ignorance. After seeing how glamorous your machine turned out I too took my bff Bernina 160 plus machine that stopped stitching in 2022 after 22 great years of togetherness bc of a circuit board issue no longer being available I too was at a loss and I just couldn’t retire her to the garbage dump so I started blinging her out to be a lovely museum piece that I can display in my sewing room. I also left open spaces where she can still be used if ever I find another circuit board 🤞🏽🙃 Thanks so much for your inspiration I know you will enjoy your Baby Lock for years to come 🥰 BTW, my backup machine for when my new machine is in the shop is a Baby Lock Zeal and I got her just bc of the needle threader otherwise I was looking at the Zest as well 😊 Many blessings to you in the New Year and May health, happiness and prosperity be yours. 😍💞💯🎉🎊🎉

    Wow. I lost my mom on Christmas, so we are still dealing with the business tied to death: getting the cremation completed, getting the death certificate and dealing with the will. I’ve also got surgery coming up on Friday, so I have not felt very creative for this past month. I have finished things that needed to get done, though, like quilt binding, cleaning and organizing. I’m hoping that once I can come up for air after all the bureaucracy is out of the way, I can do something to honor my mom’s legacy. I know she loved that I was creative and would want me to keep doing the things I love as along as I can.

    • @CarolinaMoore
      @CarolinaMoore  7 місяців тому +2

      Oh! Sending so much love your way. Sounds like you had an incredible mom, and she will be missed.
      For me... I never understood grief before. I can't really say I understand it now, but now I know that I don't understand it. That, for me at least, it is incomprehensible.
      All I can do is move forward the best I can, and give myself grace on the hard days. ❤️
      Good luck with your surgery. Hope you have lots of time for healing and creativity this year.

    I enjoyed learning why you blinged out your machine. It is not something i would want or to do to my sewing machine, but to each his own. This is hilarious because I *just* responded to another commenter and mentioned those cams! Yes, they are the cams from my mom's old machine. When it bit the dust she asked if I wanted it. I have no space for a non-functional machine, but the cams are a lovely display piece. 🥰

    Hi Carolina. My grandaughter plays competitive softball. You have to pay at the entrance and you get your ticket. All the tickets are different but mostly the same size. What is a inexpensive way to transfer the color and print of the tickets onto cloth to make a quilt? I would greatly appreciate if you can help me. Thank you in advance.

    • @CarolinaMoore
      @CarolinaMoore  8 місяців тому

      Hmmm... I'd probably try the photo-transfer fabric. You can use it on your inkjet printer. Use a printer with a copy/scan bed on it. Put some of the tickets on the scan bed. Close the lid. Put the fabric sheets in the paper tray and copy. 🥰

      Fun fact: I don't own an embroidery machine! Machine embroidery is on my "someday" list, for sure!! But, I currently don't know enough about them to be able to give any advice beyond the normal advice I give on machines:
      Buy the most expensive machine you can afford. And by that I mean - get as many bells and whistles now as you can. You'll want them, so get them right away rather than waiting to upgrade "someday."
      Stay in your budget. Just the top end of it. 🥰
