It did turn out great! And both the librarian (who asked me to make it) and rhe retired Dean (who the quilt is for) loved it!! 🥰

Hi Carolina- I have quite a few sport shirts where the printing is 1" from the V neckline. How would you suggest cutting these shirts?

Great question! Part 2 goes over how to deal with these "troublesome" shirts. It will be up in 2 days and go into more detail than I can in a comment. 🥰

@@CarolinaMoore I appreciate you! Not only are these shirts V-neck with the printing only 1" from the neckline, they are made with a sport fabric not cotton. Ugh!

If they're sport fabric (like a slick material), then you should be able to treat them the same - just be more careful with heat, and use pins to prevent slipping when sewing. But if they're jerseys made with ventilation-hole fabric (like football jerseys) then you will want to back them fully with a lightweight fabric (like a quilting cotton - black or dark grey for dark jerseys, white, cream, or light grey for light jerseys) because the fabric has holes in it, and that won't work for a quilt top. You can just spray baste the backing fabric to the back of the jerseys, and that basting spray will wash out the first time the quilt is washed. 🥰
