    It's good to know that people like it! Personally I think it looks like a lot of work messing with the magnets. And expensive. Just my opinion😊

      Hahaha... I think I was mostly just having fun playing with them. They make such a satisfying "click!" 😆

      I was having fun playing with them. So satisfying to pull on them and then feel the "click" when they lock back into place. 😆

    Thank you so much for the honest review, Carolina! I love that you mention the quality, the affordability and the goal of accessibility! It's such a balance making the best product possible, at the best price possible, as a very small business!

    Thank you for your review! Thanks for mentioning that it could help with disabilites. I have had RA for 40 years and cutting is the hardest part for me. I am really looking onto this purchase. :)

      I agree! It is so important! The average quilter is a woman in her 60s. It is pretty common that, by the time we hit our 60s, we have knee, shoulder, wrist, or hand problems. And some of us get these issues earlier (my wrist problems started when I was 17).

    Loved your demonstration Carolina :) I can see how awesome it would be for people who struggle with fabric and rulers moving. Thank you for mentioning accessibility. I want to enjoy sewing as I get older and think products that allow us to do that are important.
    It's a very expensive system. I've had to put myself on a gadget and gizmos diet because here just isn't enough time and money to use them all!

      I totally understand. I love *all* the notions, and it is easier for me because companies send quite a few to me to try out, and any that I buy are a business expense... most quilters don't get either of those benefits! That's why it is important to me to give as accurate a review as possible - so that you can be as knowledgeable as possible when deciding how to spend your quilting dollars. ❤️

    Very interesting cutting system 🤔. I can see that it would be useful for some people who struggle with inadvertent ruler movements. Thanks for the video 😊

    New to your channel. Loved your review of the Sew Tite cutting system. Interesting, but to expensive for my budget. I personally use Donna Jordons exercise weight at the end of my cutting rulers. Works great. I loved you zippered bag! And you mentioned a link. But I couldn’t find it. Thank you so much for the review.

    This was a lovely review, though honestly at that price point it mostly inspired me to play with having a thin cutting mat on top of a sheet of metal. It looks like this would be fantastically helpful for cutting apparel with a rotary cutter. Even with heavy fabric weights I struggle with shifting for that.

    • @CarolinaMoore
      @CarolinaMoore  Рік тому

      I have no idea if a metal sheet under a thin mat would work - you can always try? I imagine a steel plate is probably pretty expensive, though. And would a thin rotary mat cut as nice? This rotary mat really cut beautifully! ❤️ You may be able to DIY something for less... but maybe not?

    Carolina, I don't see the pattern for the pincushion bag you showed us in the video. It wasn't attached in the description and I am unable to find it in your videos. Would you please give us a link to it? TIA...

    I use sew tires for hand piecing all the time and love them. I can see how this would use a good alternative but how do you measure accurately where the measurement is covered by the magnets? It also seems a bit putzy with the moving of magnets. I’ve been using a hand weight on the end of my long ruler to help me hold it steady. I’m glad that people are innovating new things for quilting though. I do 95% of my cutting with my AccuQUILT. BTW… I found your free pattern but I don’t see a link here. Keep finding and designing neat things for us!

    • @CarolinaMoore
      @CarolinaMoore  Рік тому +1

      Thanks for the reminder on the link - I'll double-check that! And the magnets only take a small space, they really don't cover enough of the ruler to be a hindrance. ❤️

    I thought "this looks FANTASTIC for people with disabilities, like me (RA) when my arms/elbows/wrists/hands don't work right!" and got all excited about it.
    Then I looked at the price.
    Having a disability is very expensive and means most people with disabilities will not be able to afford this system which is very unfortunate because it could really help them. It is very sad the price is so outrageous!

    • @CarolinaMoore
      @CarolinaMoore  Рік тому +1

      I totally understand. I have close family with disabilities, and medications, appointments, lost work to attend appointments, specialists, specialty products - all of it adds up.
      I also understand the pricing on this set. A quality cutting mat of this size will easily run $40. A quality ruler of this size is about $30. That is $70 for basic materials. Add on the magnets and magnetic base, and it adds up very quickly. I am a notion designer as well, and we do all we can to find the balance between good quality and affordability. We want to make great products and get them in as many hands as possible.
      Even so, as I mentioned in the video, it is expensive. Unfortunately, quilting is a pricy hobby for all of us. But... I still love it! 🥰

    Do they still sell a left or right handed system? I am ambidextrous and cut both ways, depending on which is the easiest way to make the next cut. Can you do that with this system?

    • @CarolinaMoore
      @CarolinaMoore  6 місяців тому

      They have both a left handed and right handed versions. If you're ambidextrous, I assume that you don't switch rulers with each cut? You probably have one set of rulers and just cut on either side. You can do the same here.

    How much is it

      $375 before the discount, $319 with discount applied.

      I didn't mention the price in the video because prices can change... a year (or three) from now, someone may look at the video, and be upset that the price I say in the video is no longer valid for them... but I see Annie got the prices for you. ❤️

    This might be great but it’s extremely expensive and if I had that amount of money to spend I wouldn’t spend it on this.

  • @EverydayisSaturdayexceptSunday

    Crazy expensive for 90% of population.

    • @CarolinaMoore
      @CarolinaMoore  Рік тому

      I don't think of expensive as a relative term in relation to people. Things that are expensive are things that cost more than the average substitute. Using that definition, this is absolutely expensive. Costs way more than a regular mat and ruler. You're 100% right.
      When we talk about price relative to people, we're actually talking about budget. Is this out of the budget of a lot of people? Absolutely.
      I could go very deep into this, and I might in a future video, but just because a product is out of the budget of an average quilter, does not mean the product should not exist.
      In nearly all cases, quilt products are designed by quilters. People who are part of this quilting community. They're not making products as a get-rich-quick scheme. The margins on these products are divided into multiple parts, and the inventor isn't getting the largest chunk.
      I understand if you want the product, but the price feels out of reach. I have been there. But the price is the price. There's usually very little the creator can do to adjust it, unless they're willing to work for free.

    Nearly $400 and a lot more things to faff about with ... I'll stick with the conventional rotary cutter and my dumbbell ...

    • @CarolinaMoore
      @CarolinaMoore  Рік тому

      So happy you found something that works for you! I love that there are different options for all of us.
      Personally, because of my wrist issues, I would not be able to lift a dumbell over and over to cut out a whole quilt. And for cutting a regular quilt, I don't need the booster magnets, so this is perfect. 🥰

    Looks like it takes extra time to get everything situated for each cut. Super spendy too! Cool, but not
    Personally not interested.
