out of the box I struggled with low vacuum, I had to remove and reseat the waste container. I tried flux but had the best luck cleaning the tip, applying fresh solder to the tip, and then heating the joint for 1-2 seconds and 1-2 seconds of vacuum. Works really well now!
I have not had to replace any of the Chinese T12 tips yet, but I see T12 tips on Hakko's website, it says those ones are for Asia and the T15 is for North America, I'll have to read up on the difference.
@@techjesse I just bought made in Japan T15 tip. It's perfect.I have a few KSGER branded tips. They are very good.I wouldn't trust Chinese T12 not branded tips.
Do you know if the led light indicator should be red at all? Mine will go from red then off then on and off.. there is no specific order it just comes on and off
Although I am fairly new at this, just started about a year ago, I'm not sure that's an accurate statement for electrolytic capacitors. They clearly have a negative and positive. Perhaps someone else can chime in?

Great Repair yet another one saved and yes that hakko is a great tool And they do have anode and cathode
Thanks David!
Interesting post.Regarding KSGER -did you try to use original Hakko T15 cartridges?

I love my Hakko 301, I had a few of the junks from amazon; They all die in few months.
When use flux this filter early bad,
Sir how time use after fillter change??
Nice. Still, I have to ask you, what are you using these old machines for in these days?
Games! Here is my top 10 90's PC games list I made last week: ua-cam.com/video/rdgsugAh4Vo/v-deo.html
awesome :D subscribed
Thanks!

mine is red when coming up to temp then turns off but it stays hot
After fumbling around with manual suckers iam really eyeing the fr-301, but they are bloody expensive
It's totally worth it though. Makes the job sooo much easier.
I would be careful with all the extra flux. It will ruin your filters very quickly. A bit more heat, 350 C, and if need some fresh solder.
Thanks!
AKA the Moo Gun.
Capacitors do not have anodes and cathodes. Only diodes.

You are right. Electrolytic capacitors have an anode and cathode.
Thanks @@michaelkeithduncan!
LOL this is so wrong. Diodes have anodes and cathodes too.
