Simon the sorser / disworld /ishar/ shanara /monkey island Indina Jones the best of all so many hours so many memories I finish more 20 times and still amazing
Unique old games. 😢 Likely play all
Did not realize CF was natively IDE. That settles it for my application (early 90's hdd audio recorder). Very informative, thanks!
Halo bro halo
Help me remember an online over head spaceship game where you play on a team against another team trying to destroy their base or defend your own or something like that.
out of the box I struggled with low vacuum, I had to remove and reseat the waste container. I tried flux but had the best luck cleaning the tip, applying fresh solder to the tip, and then heating the joint for 1-2 seconds and 1-2 seconds of vacuum. Works really well now!
Pentium 3s. FPS Games. Trance music. Mtn Dew. That's gamin' boys!
I’m cool with a Pico simply because Raspberry Pi shit is so common and standardized, I might have to grab one of these keyboards
We have been doing LAN parties in my brothers basement since 2001. All the rigs are stored there on tables to eliminate setup and tear down time. We updated all of our LAN rigs to the HP dc5750M with a dual boot of WinXP or *Win7 Pro so (on eBay now) we could keep up with all the newer multiplayer games and then upgraded again in 2019 with home built rigs running Ryzen 3600X processors with GTX1660Ti video cards. This will be our last upgrade as we are now well into our 60's. I fully agree with your comment that the internet has destroyed the joy found in having in person LAN parties. Nothing can compare to hearing the pain you are inflicting on your opponent live and in person or the laughter when somebody goofs a shot or slips off the edge. *The last real O/S made by Microsoft. :)
Awesome comment, so cool to hear! That is kind of our goal, to get a small community going up here in NorCal which we have been doing. Where are you guys located?
@@techjesse Presently I live in Portage MI but my brothers house is in New Haven IN. We did live in Grass Valley California as kids back in the late 60's to early 70's. Those were interesting times with all the hippies around our area.
@@majordan3517 That's right down the road! Yeah there are definitely a lot of hippies up in Grass Valley / Nevada City even today.
@@techjesse What PC games are you into now? I tend not to like the newer stuff much but I do enjoy Radiophobia 3. ver. 1.18 (STALKER Shadow of Chernobyl mod) Star Citizen was hopeful but I'm waiting for Squadron 42 which may come out after I'm dead. I tried playing DayZ but could not get past all the inventory micro-managing and chunkiness of it. I do run four (4) BF1942 servers and one (1) DayZ server.
HD IDE = BAD CLUSTER
Interesting post.Regarding KSGER -did you try to use original Hakko T15 cartridges?
I have not had to replace any of the Chinese T12 tips yet, but I see T12 tips on Hakko's website, it says those ones are for Asia and the T15 is for North America, I'll have to read up on the difference.
@@techjesse I just bought made in Japan T15 tip. It's perfect.I have a few KSGER branded tips. They are very good.I wouldn't trust Chinese T12 not branded tips.
I love my Hakko 301, I had a few of the junks from amazon; They all die in few months.
Hello, does it work with laptops on win98 too ?
Thanks for the tip, i"m gonna try it. I just got a old P II system with win 98 to play some games from my childhood. I have some old GPU's in my basement that i didn't even knew I still had so have to try out differnt drivers. I have a external cd writer but burning a cd everytime for just a driver is time consuming and i don't have that many blanc cd's left so a flash drive would be very easy.
Thanks! Yeah I use it all the time, just used it today actually to transfer some old DOS game files.
That is epic.
Thank you!
Looks awesome fun!!
Indeed!
I got a computer recently with an IED and I don’t even know what it was until today 😂, nice to know adapters do exist I didn’t wanna get rid of the old drives
You got a computer with an Improvised Explosive Device? Sounds dangerous...
@@techjesse He got it from a 10 year old in the middle east
Fun fact it does not work on windows 98 FE (first edition)
My only complaint about this LAN Party is the severe lack of BAWLS Guarana lol
Duke Nukem influenced my life too. Was 12 years old when I played it for the first time. Loved it!
Just found your channel. Excellent Content - another sub for you sir!
Thank you!
Do you know if the led light indicator should be red at all? Mine will go from red then off then on and off.. there is no specific order it just comes on and off
mine is red when coming up to temp then turns off but it stays hot
When use flux this filter early bad, Sir how time use after fillter change??
Sir, hakko bits size same zd915???
Nice. Tell me this though - it wasn't nearly as fun as you wanted it to be, right? :D
More
@@techjesse Nice to hear that. I've been persuading my old quake 2 40-year old pals to do the same (well not that retro but 90s games), we did get together a few times in the past few years but ended up playing dota 2 every time :/ But when I sometimes turn on an old game (I have a nice collection of classics on GoodOldGames), I can hardly get into it as much. Although I can hardly get into any single player game these days so I was wondering how fun would a retro lan party be. Will keep on trying :D
that one you suggested as a 2nd drive little washers and off of temu you can get this 2.5 to 3.25 one that you can put it a reg hard drive space its only around 2 or 3 bucks in USA btw without a 3d printer
So cool!
Thanks! It was super fun.
Man, I would love to go to one of these.
Same here
As a follow up, try the Startech IDE to SATA with an 80 wire cable as see how much faster your PC boots
I'll check it out. Thanks!
DUDE, so cool. Love this, thanks for sharing!
Thank you!
I was not able to play the first person shooting games like Quake, Doom, etc for more than 30 mins before getting dizzy so those games were out for me. Did enjoyed a lot of C&C, Starcraft, Warcraft, Diablo. Such a golden age of gaming growing up playing these games back then.
So Epic! I dream of opening a Museum for arcades, PC's, classic gaming, LAN setups, and a little pub inside for food and drinks.
Great idea! There is a computer history museum in the Silicon Valley that I have yet to check out. But it's not gaming related. I am hoping to see it this Fall if I attend the Vintage Computer Festival down there. Where are you located?
dam you guys make me feel young again
Oh I would love some Q3 Arena and CS 1.6 on those!
Heck yeah! We are planning another one this October, and will have a few more "modern" XP machines from the Pentium 4 era running some CS
where in northern california?
Roseville
Hi. Great video. Thank you. Do you have a link to the IDE to SD card reader on Amazon? I know it had issues but was curious to the price and reviews as of recent.
Thanks! This is the one I got which has good reviews. A lot of it comes down to the quality of the card itself rather than the reader. amzn.to/3QYViTv
@@techjesse Thank you. I appreciate it.
Great video! I love the 90s LAN party vibe so much that I've set up a 4 PC DOS only (for now) LAN at my local retro arcade, Playback, in Bristol, UK running DOOM, Quake, Duke Nukem 3D, Warcraft II and Descent so far. All are the same Dell Pentium 200 MMX machine with matching IBM E74 17" CRT so each player gets the same hardware. Wish I had my own warehouse like you to play with friends whenever we wanted though. One day...
That's awesome! I've talked to the owner of a local arcade here in Northern California about doing the same thing, but he doesn't have the space in his current location. Would love to have a permanent "LAN room".
@@techjesse I really just wanted a place that I could permanently set up at least 4 PCs that friends I could go and deathmatch DOOM on out of hours but the arcade asked if I was happy to leave them available for their customers too. I was a bit apprehensive about old home hardware (not like most of the coin-ops there) would take public use but after 7 or 8 months they are all still working well with very little maintenance. Of course, if I had a big American basement of my own then I'd probably have let that get completely taken over with the LAN and added double the PCs to it by now. Good thing I don't have that luxury overall as it could become a bit of an obsession!
Love how everyone is playing Duke Nukem 3D! It's one of my all time favorite games, and in my opinion, still one of the best FPSs ever made even after all these years!
Absolutely! Definitely my favorite FPS. I tell a little about it in my top ten favorite 90s video games countdown video I made: ua-cam.com/video/rdgsugAh4Vo/v-deo.html
@@techjesse I've seen that video! Excellent collection of games. If you go to my channel you will see that I have a home video of me at 8 years old back in 1997 playing Duke Nukem 3D on an old Windows 95 machine, filmed with a VHS camcorder. I was basically streaming in the 90s before streaming was a thing!
What the hell man, that grinding sound in the 19:00 mark was present for all of these things? As a kid I thought I broke my dad's PC when I play it and he's not around.
Not having Quake is total blasphemy
If it's any consolation, we did have an epic Quake deathmatch at our retro LAN party a few weeks back: ua-cam.com/video/r0PmEHLuPxE/v-deo.html
I love this video, great picks and fun stories. Although, Diablo 2 wouldn't be 1990's game lol its a 2000's game. But I do know how hard it is to mention Diablo 1 without mentioning Diablo 2. 😅
Yeah I cheated a little on that one. DII was June 2000, close enough to the 90s ;)
"You definitely haven't heard the last." Was that a threat? 😂
lol
First Lan party in my life. Back in the 90's I hered all about them being in other states but there were never any arround in California. This event was amazing, alot of fun, greate people. Tie fighter looks amazing so perhaps next time we can plan on aquiring those joysticks before we ever show up. Next time I plan on bringing four N64 controller's as well (perfect 90's addition) We should start a theme for each event so we are all prepared for what game we will be playing.
That's awesome, glad to have ya there! Looking forward to the next LAN!
Love it! Maybe we can have LAN parties at the same weekend!
Sounds like a good idea. We are aiming to do them twice a year, next one this Fall.
I would literally rather do this than get laid 😂
Cool stuff,I want to setup one someday..
If you build it, they will come! Just set a date and see what happens. First LAN party a year or so ago had 2 of us, second had 8, and third had 14 of us.
wow, jealous.
No need to be jealous, you too can build a retro LAN party! Where are you located?
Small city in Austria, and I do not speak the local language (German). Last time I was in a Lan Party probably 20 yrs ago in University, nice times.
Nobody's strafe jumping in Quake, lol?!?!?
