I purchased these exact coilovers for my RD1 and had the same issue where the front coils, being bottomed out with just the slightest amount of preload, left them basically at stock height. I reached out to maxpeeding rods and they asked me to send them pictures of my car before and after. I purchased these when they pretty much first came out and there weren't any reviews on them yet. I was hoping that maxpeeding rods had payed attention to the previous reviews of their original coiloevers for the RD1 and RD2 that are all over UA-cam and fixed the whole not enough low in the front problem. The build quality of these seems great its just a shame that the fronts don't go low enough. I am not a UA-cam content creator so I highly doubt they would even bother giving me the same attention they gave you to address the problem. Also I think my warranty is up so they probably wont even bother trying to help anymore. I ended up buying some top hat extenders, I have yet to install them though. I daily my CRV with over 180 miles a day and the coilovers ride super smooth, I have no complaint with the ride quality, other than it not being low enough.
Living in the Northeast...Definitely not lowering my 01 RD1....snow....road conditions! But Definitely helpful young Honda enthusiasts today!!!❤enthusiasts
those coils overs look so much better than their older coil oils, i was actually think of getting a set of these or yonaka for my 2001 fwd crv that is lifted right now.
I just went bilstein, but it precluded using aftermarket tophats because I lost too much travel with the bigger shock body, limiting my drop to 1/2" using the clips. I live on crappy roads and put them to hard use and usually go fo companies known for longevity like bilstien, tokico, koni and like to go for rebuildable/revalvable pressurized monoshocks over dual-tube where possible. But I am encouraged to see maxpeeding rods continually improving their product. Seems like they already mostly fixed the blown seal issue, and made some basic fixes as a result of feedback and experince. A bit better valving and they might me my next set. I have found truhart to be more reliable, but overpriced and often rebadged crap. I wonder why MSR wouldn't go inverted to take the shock weight off the suspension (unsprung) and give space for full-travel while eliminating the tophat. It's clear that the suspension travel is less than OEM with the maxspeedingrods product. That said, it took 325k and 25 years for one of my og tokico (rip) shocks to start leaking.
Yeah, in the past, I've used more widely known brands. I just look at it this way, everyone has to start somewhere. As long as they are continuing to improve them, I'll give them a shot. It was really cool to have them listen to me and promptly make changes to accommodate my request.
My son got Maxpeeding Rods coilovers and they broke. The rear passenger broke from the mount and the front driverside bent. So we did stock mcpherson struts and installed H&R 2 inch lowering springs all around.
I've seen them fail catastrophically with McPherson suspension up front, not an issue for us rd1 guys. these do look a lot better than what they used to
as a none youtuber/ affiliate with max speeding rods you are better off spending the extra 150-200 on a set of tru hart coilovers for the crv since they wont send you parts to make it go lower..i was actually rooting for maxspeeding rods since i like to save couple bucks on builds but they havent nailed it yet..keep on trying max speeding rods im sure you will eventually get it down
Hopefully with my recommendations, MXR changes the front shocks to the ones I have now. They are definitely capable of going low. Mine still has pretty good ride quality despite being low.
@hondaresource, can you confirm if they made any adjustments to the front or if they are selling the same stuff, thinking about getting some for my Rd1
I lowered my wifes rd1 crv about a year ago but the exhaust is very low...scraps every where we go and its on 17x8 wheels... any tips or can u do a video on how to fix the issue...
I've had 4 of these, never had this issue. Is your header or exhaust aftermarket? Where does it scrape? My crappy 1320 one hangs all wonky and sucks, but still never scrapes with a 1/2" drop on washed out rural roads. Rule of thumb, if the rear lower control arms are below paralell, your handling will suffer. Might wanna bump it a bit for handling, look up "roll center" to see what I mean.
@nobodynoone2500 it's all owm header and exhaust but noticed it hangs very very low... the resonator is about 1 inch off the ground... is that normal... or will a new bolt on exhaust fix it
Hey man I just bought the same coilovers and I was wondering how I would be able to get the front ones that they sent you so I can go lower as to having it with no preload
I saw the video great content. I want to buy the these coilovers. But didn't want to have the issue with ride height. I call maxspeedrod today to ask if they would just send me the replacement so didn't have the issue. They said they're out of stock. Any other suggestions. Maybe go with civic coilovers or 6th gen accord?
Please help , I'm in the UK and I have a Honda CRV 2001 I've been using since 2011. For about 2 years my heater barely heats up. And the little heat I get comes when I'm driving, it blows cold when I'm stationary. please help !!!!!!
Fordeco makes the cheapest ones. They look identical to the cheap line Maxpeedingrods. They have a 2 year warranty though. And for 220 bucks, that's hard to scoff at.
Hey Phil! Wondering if you might happen to have an advice for adjusting alignment! I tried my best, maybe saved my second set of tires for now. Got a set of BFG's for 15" wheels - but dare not install them until I get the alignment done first. Thoughts? ua-cam.com/video/DkTNuSem54A/v-deo.html Thanks Buddy!

First one here... and what a perfect install... very detailed... u definitely need more subscribers... wishing u the best on ur journey brotha
Thank you man! Best bet on the exhaust is to prob have one made with different routing
@hondaresource I was thinking an ebay oem style since the scrapping is the big oem resonator... the ebay one is a slim one
Living in the Northeast...Definitely not lowering my 01 RD1....snow....road conditions!
But Definitely helpful young Honda enthusiasts today!!!❤enthusiasts
I still have my lifted k swapped one too
those coils overs look so much better than their older coil oils, i was actually think of getting a set of these or yonaka for my 2001 fwd crv that is lifted right now.
They've definitely made improvements

Those rd1 look so much better lowered
I like them both ways. lol
Got a 97 coilovered. But just sleeves on Stocks and TL 17s . Front about 1i2 - 3/4 on fenderwell on fronts
Yeah, I tried lowering mine with maXpeedingrods but I think I want to see 17:51 how it is lifted. You just confirmed that for me.
Yes Mr. Babb I agree. My black rpf1 reps are real to me when I touch them and look it. They are made in Japan too like the original enkeis.
My son got Maxpeeding Rods coilovers and they broke. The rear passenger broke from the mount and the front driverside bent. So we did stock mcpherson struts and installed H&R 2 inch lowering springs all around.
For the CRV?
Can you please do a video on lifting the rear with these , looks like you figured the front lift out already.
I've seen them fail catastrophically with McPherson suspension up front, not an issue for us rd1 guys. these do look a lot better than what they used to
"They're real if I can touch them." YAAAAASSSSS Say it from yah CHEST! hahaha
hahahahahaha
Did they send you the correct coils? What's the part# for the correct sized coils?? Do we have to call the company and ask for the shorter coils?
Whats the part # from maxspeedingrods and then how many inches shorter springs and dampers from the original part did you request?
Please update us about whether the threads begin to rust like their cheap ones... My cheap ones instantly began to rust, even in a dry state.
rust isn't an issue here in Alabama so I probably wouldn't be able to give you a fair review on that.
If it’s still in research phase, please tell them to use extended top hats. Old ones all ride like poop all bottomed out
The original shocks are too long. Mind ride good
I can't get the 1st Gen coilovers in my country, will the Honda EK coilovers work?
I have these same coilovers on my RD1. My rear is cambered out bad as well, but it didnt go nearly as low as you, maybe now i need to go lower 😂
Do you have any problems with the coil overs? Thinking about getting some
@t4lon244 nope! They ride like a rock but they have been good over about 25k miles now
as a none youtuber/ affiliate with max speeding rods you are better off spending the extra 150-200 on a set of tru hart coilovers for the crv since they wont send you parts to make it go lower..i was actually rooting for maxspeeding rods since i like to save couple bucks on builds but they havent nailed it yet..keep on trying max speeding rods im sure you will eventually get it down
I can't say 100% for sure as I have no experience with truharrt coilovers.
i have so i highly recommend them even yonaka coilovers are good and they both go lower then maxpeeding rods..@@hondaresource

Do you not have any wheel rub that low?
No, it has rolled fenders and the wheels aren't crazy offset
Hey man I just bought the same coilovers and I was wondering how I would be able to get the front ones that they sent you so I can go lower as to having it with no preload
I'll ask my rep
Appreciate it 👍
Any info on how to get the same set up you got in the front to go lower? Thanks
Any word on how to get the same setup you have for the lower front end? Do we need to call for this or have they updated the product?
I saw the video great content. I want to buy the these coilovers. But didn't want to have the issue with ride height. I'm not sure.
looking good. maybe a b16 head with vtec in the future lol
Maybe so
Looks like your discount takes $41.90 USD off. Pretty good!
I see those 7-11 calipers in the cargo area
yeah, they are a no go unfortunately
Can I use those to lift the crv an if so how high can it go??
I'm working on a lift set from them.
Good show
Thanks!
Are these comfortable
Not too bad honestly
Can have the stock suspension shack 😅
you'd be surprised at how many people have asked about these front springs.
what size wheels are those?
They are 18x8 225/40/18
@@hondaresource oooooo new integra a-spec wheels are 18x8 235/40/18 with 35 offset that might just fit
They're real if I can touch them 🤣
Rims, tits, either way hahahaha

Check the thermostat. It may be stuck open
Probably the worst coilovers anyone could buy, but you do you.
Going to give them a shot, they are trying to improve.

I always take mine in for computer alignment
You talk too much…
