Very useful; however, I replaced mine WITHOUT removing the rivet that attaches the actuator bracket to the door. It was a little challenging spreading the tabs and getting the actuator out and even harder getting the new actuator back in BUT I didn't have to fuss with removing the factory rivet.
You may want to take the door panel off and see if you can pop the door open from the inside of the door. You may also fing that something has broke which is why the door will not open. 1aauto.com 888-844-3393
Wasn't that nice of Ford to send you a new actuator that YOU get to assemble? Thanks for making this video. Check for a broken wire in the door to post cable.😀
Great video thanks for the help, one thing to add is on my '03 Crown Vic I was able to avoid drilling out the door rivets. To do so you can just disengage the connecting rod that connects to the outside door lever. It's made out of plastic and it's got a tab you can just pull out and bam the connecting rod gets disconnected.
thank you so much, i used your instructions and turned only the rivet had broken, so i used a screw even thoui have a rivet gun, the screw seems to be a better solution. thanks again for your help bob
You did this 6 years ago, so you may not remember, but what size bolts did you use? I can see that the rivet is missing, so I just need to re-attach the actuator somehow. If you can't remember the size of the bolt, was the hole on the actuator bracket the same size as the hold on the door? How long should the bolt be?
Would this be the same for a 2005 mercury grand marquis? My front passenger side door lock will not lock with remote or pressing the main lock on the driver side but will lock manually
I have a 94 Mark Viii. I am thinking it's the same Deal? I did not think of removing the Door lock Too.I'm taking a peak now. Thanks. I just have to replace a Bolt and nut on the Bracket and Re install.
i recently purchased a used 1999 grand marquis. the keyless entry pad on the driver side door has 2 keys that do not function. the 3/4 and 5/6 buttons do not work. could this be a fuse that needs to be replaced? if i get a replacement keypad will i need a new code to enter my car?
I have a newer model Crown Vic (2008), and two of my doors have lock problems. One locks and unlocks by pulling or pushing on the lock nob. The other will unlock, but not lock. In both doors, I can hear the actuator sort of whir as if it is doing what it should, but it's as if it's not properly connected to the rest of the locking mechanism. Any suggestions?
on my 2008 merc the passenger side front door lock works manually and when I hit the lock button I can see the button move does that sound like just maybe the linkage came off or does that sound like I need to replace this part?
Usually when the door lock actuator goes bad you'll see it wiggle but not pop up. You may need to replace it. We carry new ones on our website 1aauto.com 888-844-3393
So purchasing a new actuator doesnt give you the rivet? My issue is that you can hear the actuator flopping around in there when you press the door lock. Therefore needing to reattach with a rivet. Can you just line up the bracket and shoot in a rivet?? What size? But video still loaded with info and helpful. You guys rock.
@@1AAuto All the actuators I have seen for purchase do not have a rivet attached. Its hard to somewhat comprehend the design and use of the rivet/bracket etc. In the video it looks like the "rivet" used with the nut was in the actual kit...?
I have a 2000 mercury grand marquis and just recently put a door lock module in but now my keyless door keypad isn't working or lighting up, what could be causing that?

Mine actually locks me in the car and will not unlock until a few days later. Sometimes I can pull the door lever a hit the lock at the same time to open it... HELP!!

It may be an issue with the key pad itself. You may want to ask the dealer to see if the replacement one would need to be re-coded.
Is it the same for replacing the DL Actuator in a 2003 Crown vic?

Good video! I found the rivet had broken and by replacing the rivet it's as good as new. Saved me $50.00

Can you guys do a blend door actuator on a grand marquis or crown Vic
I have an opposite problem, both of my front door lock rivets popped. 02 mgm. Ordered two new rivets since I have a rivet gun
I have a 96 Crown Vic. The actuator works but its very slow unlocking my door. Is there a way I can lube it or free it up without replacing it?

I have a issue similar to this...the latch that's in the center of the door is frozen so I can't open the door...what do I do
