    The "angles" thing with range is pretty complicated. Bunkers are weak from the left and right, because they are very wide horizontally, and units in a bunker fire from its center. Range is normally calculated edge-to-edge, but for units loaded into a bunker, it's calculated center-to-edge. So even though marines in a bunker get +1 range, they actually don't shoot much farther than they would if they were just standing still there, not in a bunker. And from the left and right sides, it can actually be worse (from an edge-to-edge perspective) than a marine on its own. So sometimes you build your bunker in a position that looks like it should be in range, but it isn't quite, and the sunken just takes it down for free.
    Another thing about angles, maybe the biggest thing, is that distances are not calculated exactly in this game (for most things). The Pythagorean Theorem says that if the distance between A and B in the horizontal direction is x, and in the vertical direction is y, then the distance between A and B is d(A,B) = √(x²+y²). But square roots take a long time to compute, and Brood War has to make hundreds of range calculations every second, sometimes thousands. So to save resources, it uses a simple function that is linear and can be calculated entirely using bitshifts and additions. This function is supposed to approximate the true distance function, but not very well. The result is that if a "circle" is the set of points equidistant from its center, then the "circles" in Brood War are actually dodecagons (almost, they are slightly misaligned at the corners). That means sometimes it looks like you are in range, but you aren't quite, because you are using a different metric. That is, the target is inside the circle but not inside the dodecagon.
    And of course if you are talking about movement rather than attack range, there are all kinds of other issues. When units move significant distances, they typically move along one of the 8 principal directions (N, NE, E, SE, S, SW, W, or NW). That's in spite of the fact that there are 32 sprites for each unit to cover different angles, and a unit can actually face any of 256 angles and move as it pleases in any of those directions over short distances. So sometimes if you want to move a long distance in the minimum time, say for an efficient scout or 4-pool movement, you don't just right-click across the map. You guide your units on a very specific trajectory that has been precalculated to be faster, and you just memorize that path. (This is mostly relevant for long open spaces, since in spaces where the path is obstructed, there are all kinds of more important ways to fine-tune the movement. It is also highly relevant to reaver shots, because scarabs path along the ground like any other unit. But in that case, there are again usually bigger things to worry about.)

    Such a crazy Zerg 3 base map.
    The problem I'm seeing Toss players making is they get soooo far ahead they think they can end it.
    There doesn't seem to be any way to kill a Zerg on 3 base on this map, that choke point is too killer.
    That 4th base appears to be VERY hard to take though, Toss players need to readjust there approach, it's all about that fourth base.

      Map is terrible to defand protoss 3d also. Good for zerg drop as it is very hard to move army to the 3d base.
      Aloso reverse contain - just joke. Which helps to protoss against zerg next to zero.
      Akso pathing to next location base - much much worse for protoss, compare to other maps. At some point zerg can just make huge lurker wall in the middle, which is pretty small.
      Only thing protoss can little bit capitalize on that trash map - play it kinda fighting spirit. Zealots + corsairs + storm => 3d base as it is hard to push into for zerg with 2+ group of hydra.
      But again - you don't have to. Pathing - huge, drops amazing. Mega contain.

      Agreed. Protoss had a 30 supply lead and Zerg had like 6 lurkers at best. He should have chased down the overlords with his roaming army and set up a soft contain on the zerg and easily expand into a 3rd, probably on the right hand side. At that point he'd easily reach 200 supply first and he can start thinking about a fourth and getting drops himself so he can harass the zerg with storm.
      I think Protoss is usually so terrified of plague and defilers in general that they hate having to tech up so they just try to shove their army into the single choke zerg has to defend. Doesn't work that way and they usually lose for it. They just need to become more patient and tactical in keeping their opponent weak as they get stronger.

    You must have H.T.s and at least 1 or 2 cannons in the main after hydra lurker comes out. It's essentially a must unless someone makes a star-shaped map where you must go through the natural to get into the corner.

    Protoss storms themselves 🤣 I like how Zerg just focused on killing the economy and just holded on. That crippled YSC to the core… must have been super frustrating

    Given the placement of the cannon rush, as well as the second probe to confirm it wasn’t a fake, I would’ve liked to see a cancel on the natural hatch right away. On this map, Beast could’ve placed it one hatchery space below where it was and still gotten efficient mineral mining from a few patches until he was able to clear the cannon(s) and wouldn’t have needed the 2nd gas before that anyway. That would’ve put him decently ahead in the opener IMO.

    Late muta switch so OP. Toss will have to start keeping corsairs banked no matter what; since Zerg can make a dozen like that.
    Mutas for high templars and observers, is the best trade in the game

      naaa Protoss are becoming so coocky, leaving nothing but one or two canoyons to defend basses, when they could easilly build another dark archon, or a couple corsairs from time to time, lame ways of play lattelly.

    So frustrating. Zerg can rush, zerg can camp and macro, zerg can harass, zerg can contain,zerg can do death drops. All that protoss can do is wait for a mistake

    YSC seemed to have such a strong opener and still it was not enough...Beast macroed and made the right moves to get back in it! That lurker drop while YSC attack and lost templar for free also hurt as Arty pointed out. More storm at the front lines there could of evened the odds but instead the templar were gifted...that said, I think other commenters are right, that choke is so hard to attack into that the approach might need to be changed on this map.

      YSC PvZ is levels below Beasts... If you cant win any game after being ahead in each game you either throwing your advantage away or the opponent is just much better.

    dark archon, heavily underused and underrated, but actually super OP. Maelstrom, like stasis but you can attack it...
    why aren't archons hardly used? just have one.

    I feel that protoss players have became to a point of such retardeness after bissu and stork peack moments, like now on days protoss never do anything but carriers builds and fast shuttle plays becoming so predectible, and just send their full army against chock point with one observer to die....

    I don’t understand how Zerg caught up economically so easily after ysc was ahead with the cannon rush. Zerg can do an all in and win if Protoss doesn’t block it but not much risk if it doesn’t work. Game theory says Zerg is favored in PvZ
