    There aren't words for how much this helped me. This channel in general has got me liking golf again, and has got me back on the course a lot more often. I find myself watching these videos an hour before we head out just for a refresher. In the end I swear less now so in a way you're making the world a better place! Thanks again.

    Some of the challenges many golfers face is the mental image of bottoming out where you start. Wherever the balls lies between your 2 feet, say 50%, mentally it is difficult to get over NOT trying to reach the bottom of the arch at that 50% point - it's not a natural thought to bottom at greater than 50%.
    Something to consider as you work through your 4 part series.
    This is gold guys - love it and thanks so much.

      zinc1oxide exactly! I can't find a video (free) on how to overcome that and how to hit it to get the divot in front of the ball?

    • @seattle_ice
      @seattle_ice 7 років тому +1

      Sometimes it helps to realize that the lowest natural point of the arc is directly below your left shoulder, since that is the pivot point, or center of the circle.

    • @jay8819
      @jay8819 7 років тому

      zinc1oxide you are *not* bottoming out at more than 50%. You *do* bottom out at 50%, its just that the *ball* is *positioned* slightly behind the 50% mark.

    I have been playing for about a year and am not very consistent with my irons. Hitting fat a lot. Just went to the driving range and tried this BTL technique and was hitting much more consistent and taking a divot after the ball just like in the videos. I have never taken a divot after the ball before. Thanks for the help! I am so excited to try this out on the course tomorrow.

    Great Video Guys!!
    New golfer here. Just played my 15th round at a Par 3 course, and I feel as though my swing has improved immensely in that short time. Being that I have had a serious back injury, I have to swing short anyhow due to the constricted movement, but I have found that your tips have come in far handier than the club pro. I'm not quite able to use a Driver, or any wood for that matter due to the injury,, but I have learned to use a 2 iron in their place, and am hitting it quite far when making perfect contact. Still a bit of a draw, and in attempting to correct I have sliced more times than I should admit, yet, I am beginning to feel my swing coming around thanks to your tips.
    Again, great video, and I am truly appreciative of your great advice!
    I steer my golf buds your way as well!
    Keep up the magnificent work, and again, Thank You!

    The grip is very important but basically palms should be facing each other more than the common teaching. This is for accuracy and to hold the grip in your fingers, interlocking or overlapping the two fingers that meet on the club (Standard grip just more palms parallel). Do not reach for the ball but bring the ball in close to your stance because the swing path is straight not around your body. The back swing should be one piece take away until the club shaft is parallel to the ground and on target with the ball to the flag. When the club shaft is at your hip the wrist start to hinge all the while keeping the club face open. At the top of the back swing, with the club face open, the club shaft should point at the flag. Now start the swing by shifting your weight to clear your hips and swing the club down with your arms close to your body and the shaft of the club in line with the ball and the flag. swing in a straight line from the ball to the flag this will cause the open faced club head to naturally snap down at the bottom of the swing and most importantly cause a "vortex" at the bottom of the swing as the club face snaps so quickly and with such force the ball has no place to go but straight on the swing path which must be controlled with the reverse "C" follow through (Google it). Must fight to keep the club face open (As you clear your hips) all the way to the side of the ball, at that point the weight of the club head will automatically snap the toe of the club around to the ball. Once a straight and consistent swing path or "plain" is established aiming for the green or even the flag will give way to sighting in on the hole. Anytime the club face is closed and off the swing plain path that is casting and the power of the vortex can easily be lost at the bottom of the swing.
    The most difficult part is keeping the club face open then almost as difficult is getting used to standing close to the ball and being able to clear your hips.
    This might throw you off but i visualize swinging a sword trying to cut of a cherry stem sicking out of the side of the ball. The trick is to not even think of the club face just let the club do all the difficult part closing and naturally snapping around the club face to the ball.good luck.
    Write it down so you do not forget and one day think you thought of it. “Vortex” is mine.

    Been playing for several years now but this is definitely one of the most frustrating weaknesses of my game..just general lack of consistency with my irons. I often hit a great tee shot down the fairway and then screw up any chance at birdie by missing the green completely from 150 yards or closer. If I could improve my GIR, I could definitely take more than a few shots off my game. I appreciate the tips to try next time at the range!

    • @skyviewtrading
      @skyviewtrading 8 років тому +2

      +Eric Winkel I'm in the same boat. I hit my tee shots great, especially 3-wood with which I can hit wayyyy more fairways than other golfers of the same handicap. Yet I miss 110-150 yard GIR regularly and cause a fantastic tee shot to turn into a bogey or worse.
      Anyways, great video Andy and Piers. Thanks!

    this is a top series of videos. One question - I see spine lean away from target at impact, but should the setup have a vertical spine or have the same spine lean away from target?

    Could you do a modified version of the white line drill for a mat? I don't have the luxury of grass to practice on. I use sound at the moment to work out if I hit it fat. Would be good if you could have a visual as well! Maybe masking tape?

      I am in the same situation. I would imagine that foot spray on the mat will give you exactly the same result

      Or talcum powder would probably work too. I will give a try.

      +Thomas Whitehead Just some whits chalk works very well if you can't use grass.
