DESCRIPTION
I had so much fun arranging Mozart´s masterpiece “Eine kleine Nachtmusik” (also named “Serenade in G”) on something different than a usual acoustic guitar: a BANJO GUITAR.
I like the idea of playing classical music on an instrument which is typically used for other kinds of repertoire.
The cool, little violin bow you see in the video is called “Pickaso Guitar Bow”, and it´s designed for regular acoustic guitars. To check out this product, visit this link: www.pickasobow.com/

He has completed the guitar, now he's just playing for fun
yeah
He already defeated the last boss, now he only do the side quests
@@drekkerscythe4723 next boss is ukelele
This is a guitar... with a banjo head
@@danielcronk8699 Because a regular banjo is just too simple for him!
As someone from the bluegrass state, I can confirm this is our go to song on the banjo.
Yes
Don't forget the breakdown from the Mystical Whistle- The Belle of the Barn dance Area. (That's a play on The Magic Flute's Queen of the Night Aria for those from Tennessee who didn't get it. WINK!)
Just jokin! I meant Indiana.
hahahahhhhahahahahaah
Yeah, but no one will ever play it as well as Bill Monroe
I've played this as a 1st violinist in Carnegie Hall (and, yes, I know how to get there), but I've got to admit, this is the best solo performance of this piece I've ever heard.
Good to see a qualified comment from a professional. (No critique of the other blogs...Just a plus)
I also played this as 2nd chair all through school! It was, and still is, one of my favorite Mozart's compositions. This guy is brilliant!!! What a great adaptation! Bravo!
A harp inside a rusty sardine can.
One of the most beautiful things ive every heard.
> and, yes, I know how to get there
One bite at a time! Er, wait....
I was a grunt at Carnegie Hall 30 odd years ago... And still the best job perks I've had, close second being the library (my second job at the time). Then I must've eaten a brain tumor because then I went into social work and mental health... I miss being a teenager working where I had access to all the books and the best music.
He takes his banjo seriously, but his classical education is what allowed him to perform this. That's a musician.
That's not a banjo its a banjo body with a 6 string guitar neck tuned just like a guitar, here is a real banjo playing Bach, ua-cam.com/video/nTOqolU-a24/v-deo.html
@@banjomanToddTaylor u right g!
Its not a banjo its a guitar with a resonator. hes not playing banjo, it’s just guitar that sounds sort of like a banjo but not really
@@goodinternetuser1943 Bruh you know that there are resonator guitars, but they look completely different? This is a banjo with 6 strings, just a different version of a regular banjo like the banjo with 4 strings.

I unironically love this. Would love to hear more classical pieces performed like this.
Look up Thunderstruck.
Listen to John Bullard's records. But it's on a 5 string banjo. Much more beautiful !
@@Charleyletaxi 6 strings 😅
Check out Buddy Green, William Tell Overture on the Harmonica!
Such skill that's beyond impressive.
Now we just for someone to go back to the past, fetch Mozart himself, bring him back to now and show him this !
I was thinking this as I listened. What wouldn't I give to hear Mozart's reaction to this.
The banjo sounds kind of like a harpsichord, especially when he's tapping the notes. It's actually quite natural for this.
I didn't think of that, but you are so right!
When a stringed instrument and a percussion instrument loved each other very very much.... :)
That's not a banjo. That's a ganjo - a guitar with a banjo body.
@@humicroav215 it really does sound good though. I'm actually surprised I haven't seen a classical player use one. Wait, nvm that's ridiculous
@@humicroav215 I wondered about that. I don't think I've ever seen one before. Never knew they even existed.
As someone in the music selling business told me. The greatest players are the ones that no one hears of. Amen this man kills it.
@@rjwh67220 Amen.
You never heard of Mozart?
Haha just kidding
@@afrarunduml1170 yes I have and yes Mozart was great as well.
There's a lot of absolute rubbish on youtube (I should know, I'm responsible for some of it myself), but this is one of the best things about the platform I think. Discovering gems like this which you'd probably never hear otherwise.
I don’t want to sound like THAT guy, but if you’ve never heard of him, you haven’t won the algorithm lottery. It threw him my way a few years back. Don’t stop by the Chilli Peppers. Go.
I always knew my love of Classical music and the banjo would pay off in the algorithm.
This is so amazing. Well done!
That banjo playing is some of the best I’ve ever heard. Banjozart.
Absolutely classic, well done that being.🤣👍🏾
He's actually playing a guitar. Look closely at the neck, It's not a banjo where the one string & associated turner is shorter than the rest. It's a standard 6 string guitar neck attached to a banjo body. It sounds awesome. The tunings between a banjo & a guitar are different. Knowing how to play a guitar doesn't translate to knowing how to play a banjo. Some can play both obviously, but this fellow, although his guitar playing is excellent, he isn't playing the banjo.
Banjozart. You're good.
Or a Banjoforte.
Toothpick is crucial in this performance
Don't say stuff like that. Now I gotta comb through the video looking for where he takes it out of his mouth, plunges it into the body of the banjo, and somehow makes that sound good. Or, you know, something equally insane.
@@jasontrout3300 I kept worrying that he would impale his left hand on it lol. (oops right hand)
I KNEW IT, that's why I can't play this, I need myself a toothpick.
@@HackionSTx Hahahahaha! yeah that's why! ;)
A stand-in for a hayseed.
There is no limit when a master is playing.......
That is a special six-string banjo tuned like a guitar. A typical banjo has five strings, and the top string starts higher on the neck and is tuned higher than the other strings. Just a little FYI. Phenomenal playing. I wish I could do that.
Either way, how many strings, still sounds like a banjo. A very well played one too.
You are correct.
Plectrum (five string). I have one branded Wurlitzer, over 100 years old.
There are at least six different types of banjos, including six-string.

Carmina Burana on a mouth harp.
The dude's a musical genius in all his compositions he arranges. Simply nothing more to say.
Luca Stricagnoli is our favourite cover band.
*Being a guitarist for 50 year's myself i have to say this is absolutely great and sounds amazing! Thank you!*
I have no idea how his tapping is so clear on a banjo, well done.
it was most likely recorded in a studio ..where tiny imperfections can be fixed
Editing
It's called a hammer-on. Watch any metal guitarist tap while unplugged. It takes quite a bit of practice, but it isn't impossible.
Herman Li plays the guitar like a piano, and taps like a champ. Kurt Hammet uses blues variant tapping arpeggios rather well, too.
It’s got a bridge pickup in it, which really helps when recording.
By the looks of that fingerboard he has practiced this quite a bit
Loved that you used the banjo to replicate the harpsicord sound.
I once heard a duet of a harpsichord and banjo. At some points you could not tell which note was coming from which instrument.
There are other banjos which replicate the sound much better, still this is an impressive performance.
Forget dueling banjos! Who knew a banjo could be so versatile.
Love that tiny little banjo-bow!
Luca only ever asks, "Can", never "Should", and I think that's beautiful.
Just when you think you’ve seen it all, then this comes out. Excellent!!!
As austrian from salzburg i can just say wow mozart would habe loved it
Showed up on my recommendations - came for the morbid curiosity, stayed for the utter enjoyment. Bravo!
Same here. This guy is pretty dang good.
It has been 10 minutes now and I think it's time for me to pick up my jaw on the floor...
If he used his hands to adjust the toothpick, the banjo would just continue to play on its own out of fear of upsetting the master
🤣🤣🤣🤣
lol :)
Oh my gosh this comment is so funny and needs more likes
You noticed that too? I was to careful not to mention it...
Y’all need to look up earl scruggs
The perfect song to wake up my pigs, cows & chickens early in the morning. Eine Kleine Morgenmusik.

It’s a banjo guitar.

This is great, I like the drone with the bow - wonderful arrangement for banjo. It is super interesting to hear the fresh take on this Mozart classic.

Well there is always the shovel or trashcan lid
I just played this on the counterweight string on my vintage anderson window in my livingroom 😐
And, making it shoelaces on a pair of sneakers, the can break into a drum solo along the way.
Your comment takes the cake. Totally agree with you. Give him a patented leather show and good shoe lace and he'll play Beethoven the 9th.
Aside from the performance being top shelf, I just want to say, kudos on the video production!! I know this was many takes, at various angles, and keeping everything synced up so perfectly in the edit is impressive. Strong work all the way around!

This is the finest progressive bluegrass I've heard in a while. (Okay, the only progressive bluegrass I've heard in a while)
Absolutely fabulous
I know the banjo guitar is a thing, but I'm now too busy chuckling at the notion of Luca turning any OTHER instrument into a guitar. The bassoon guitar. The clarinet guitar. And then completely slaying with it.
This is brilliant, and has given me goosebumps! It sounds so right on the banjo ~ there's almost a harpsichord-like sound to it. I'm guessing Mozart would be thrilled.
Cooolest part of this is that Mozart propbably would have loved it!
Even non-city folk need to get their classical on some times.
Luca you have inspired me to revolutionize the way I see my instrument, I cannot wait to share the fun I am having now when I play, on my future videos! And I cannot thank you enough for that! Awesome job with Mozart! Grandissimo
The only thing missing from this is Mozart himself, as portrayed in the movie, laughing hysterically, his wig flopping about. He would love this.
uhm, wasn't he deaf?
