  • A bit of rain, lots of wind and cold temperatures in a lovely Porto city in Portugal. I used my good old Sony a6000 and Sony 50mm f1.8 FE to see if I can get any decent photos in this very challenging environment while shooting with high ISO. By the way - photos were edited with my Copenhagen Preset Pack if you like the "moody" style: jurjax.com/product/copenhagen...

    I'm gonna be honest here. I bought my first ever camera few days ago and its the sony a6000. The only reason I bought it was your extensive videos about the sony a6000 and I'm loving every bit of the camera, and to top it all off, I got the sony 50mm F1.8 as well. So thankyou very much for providing helpful content to people like me 🙌

    Thanks for the video it's amazing. I recently bought a a6000 as a beginner but i wanna get better, i usually take nature, architectural photos and sometimes night shots. I only have the kit lens for now, any budget friendly lens recommendations under $350?

    • @TomsJurjaks
      @TomsJurjaks  3 місяці тому

      Thank you! Hmm, two options:
      1. Upgrade your current lens to Tamron 17-70 f2.8 (try to find a used one)
      2. Get a prime to mix things up. Sigma 30mm f1.4 is my favorite

      @@TomsJurjaks I think it's great for street photography, as it allows you to get that ~ 85 mm equivalent. However, sometimes it is a little too tight for nature shots and sometimes portraits.

  • @alik7015
    @alik7015 7 місяців тому

    Hello brother, I enjoy watching your a6000 videos. I have a question for you. I'm having trouble taking portraits in daylight with the A6000 and Sigma 30mm 1.4 combination. I love the blur at 1.4 aperture. Shutter 1/4000 and 1.4 aperture result in overexposure and purple fringing. I think I learned that I should use an Nd filter. Which filter would you recommend for this? There are many types of filters and their features vary. ?

    • @nicedward7544
      @nicedward7544 7 місяців тому

      I wouldn't do portraits in direct sunlight to begin with. It will be harsh looking and cause fringing like you said. If you still think you need an nd filter STC optics makes a drop in filter that goes between the lens and sensor so it works for any lens size. 3 stop should be fine or 6 stop if you are using flash or lighting in combo with natural light

  • @Yaqbus
    @Yaqbus 7 місяців тому +1

    Question from amateur: why do you underexpose by -0.5 in such conditions? Highlights from artificial light during night were too bright or it was sth else? It's easier to edit later? or that isolation you wrote about it is easier to achieve and photos are more 'moody' perhaps?
    Love these POV videos! Would be awesome to visit Porto one day and buy your time to shoot and learn :) (sometimes people offer such walks thru airbnb and similar sites)

    • @TomsJurjaks
      @TomsJurjaks  7 місяців тому +5

      Hey Jaqbus - a very fair question! The reason why I underexposed was because as you said, highlights were too bright. I wanted to focus on whats visible in the lit areas and didnt care losing some details in shadows. It is also possible that I forgot to turn it back on to 0.0 in some later shots 😅
      And thanks for the kind words! It would be my pleasure to go out and shoot together! Im mostly south of Portugal though, but whenever I go to Porto, I take my camera with me. Its just so beautiful place 👌

  • @DaniyalHaider

    Does the lack of stabilisation affect your photography? I am keen on this lens for the ZV E-10 and would want to use it for night photography. Would you recommend it?

    • @TomsJurjaks
      @TomsJurjaks  5 місяців тому +1

      Not that much to be honest, I dont shoot at night that often. It mostly affects videos if you shoot those. I would however better recommend Sigmas 30mm f1.4 or 56mm. The f1.4 is great help for low light

    • @DaniyalHaider
      @DaniyalHaider 5 місяців тому

      Sadly the 56mm is out of my budget! I'm worried that with the 30mm, I may have to move too close to the subjects/objects. I want to use a lens for night and street photography when I am in Japan. Is there another alternative lens similar or would the one in this video be the most reliable/affordable? I don't want to go above £300 for a lens as the ZV E-10 costs me £600 with a kit lens :)@@TomsJurjaks

    Hello, please, which lens should I buy? I have a 50mm 1.8 I thought it would be great. But I am disappointed because the usage is very limited. I can't get what I want into the lens. So I'm looking for a zoom lens for more universal use. The money is low and I don't know what to look for.
    Now my camera is lying in a drawer and I'm not in the mood for it at all, knowing how far I would have to be from things with 50mm.

    • @MichTheo
      @MichTheo 7 місяців тому

      I'm using mostly a Sony 50mm in combination with the brilliant Sigma 16mm 1.4. No reason for your camera to stay in the drawer, you just take some steps back, if that's the case

    • @nicedward7544
      @nicedward7544 7 місяців тому

      24 2.8 samyang is a great budget lens that is wider angle. They make a 1.8 too. The only reason i steer people from zoom lenses is because the aperture usually doesn't let in much light

    The filter you are applying makes the picture worse; you are saturating the image. You don't need to apply this filter, boss man. The original picture looks way better than when you apply the filter. I don't understand why you use this filter to saturate the picture in an attempt to make it better.

      Hey buddy, I get this comment a lot. I do it because I like it, not because I need it. For me - that is an artistic expression. I always include the RAW photo for you to enjoy. Some people like the edited version, some dont, and thats totally fine that you dont. I am doing it for fun and to show people that through editing you can change the look and feel of the photo if thats what you want, not to make it "better". I hope you understand it! And thanks for watching the video buddy :)
