Always love your eye for the tiny details that so many of us just walk by during a hike....the raindrop on a leaf, the spider's web in the sunlight, the natural symmetry of mushrooms on a tree trunk.....beautifully done once again 🙂

I prefer the natural sounds of the forest as Catherine hears them, the sound running water and even of her walking make it real. I would say turn on some of your favorite background music as you watch her hikes, if they were all natural, and you prefer that background. Overall a very nice video.

Glad you made this hike out to these beautiful falls through the lush rainforest. This is our backyard and we love it. The name Sol Duc is derived from the native Quileute phrase meaning sparkling waters, which you witnessed first hand. Beautiful images, as always. Did you spend more time in this area?

I camped for a couple more days along the Hoh River, but left because of the smoke. Then there was a lot of rain in the forecast. It wasn’t my year for Washington unfortunately, but I’ll be back. I love it there.

I'm so glad Washington State got some rain! Hopefully that will help firefighters battling the fires. I live in British Columbia, Canada, just north of Washington, and I love the west coast! It's so beautiful, and it's home.

Catherine, I have literally watched your talent grow for a couple years. What you are producing now FAR EXCEDES even just a year ago! Your shot angles the background music fits perfectly with the surroundings . The attention to details and sounds....even footsteps across a wooden bridge and raindrops on leaves, due on a spiderweb and moss on tree stumps. You are a true artist! I so appreciate you helping us experience the places we can not go ( yet ). Sadly the smoke from the west coast fires have reached Europe ( even Germany) and containment is minimal. Thanks for all your hard work. It gives those of us that are still in lock down areas and longing to be in the backcountry peace and hope of better days.

I love the rainforest in Olympic National Park. Several years ago I went to the Hoh Rainforest, and I think my friend took me to Sul Duc as well. We stayed at Lake Quinalt and further up north at Kalaloch Beach resort. It was unforgettable.

Hi Cat! What a great video; enchanting indeed! It's a thrill to see green forests. It is March 25th, 2023. Here in northern Illinois we are expecting up to 7 in of snow and 35 mph winds today. I spent a lot of time in the Forks area. The Sol Duc was my favorite steelheading river. The Queets, Rialto Beach, hold special memories of time spent camping with my family & friends. The Olympics are so enchanting. The Quinault River Valley, led into the inner reaches of the Park. Roosevelt Elk would bugle during early September, the streams held salmon, and river otters would play in the pools of gin clear water. If you’re lucky, you’ll see a harlequin duck, or King Fisher.

Actually, Olympic Peninsula is not considered Sasquatch hotbed; it is more the North Cascades, with theory being Puget Sounds cuts off access. Also, there are no brown bears in Olympics (only black bears) and there seems to be higher correlation between brown bear habitat and Sasquatch sightings. . . . just saying.

I wish I knew you were here we could have done a short hike. I have made the High Divide loop past Deer lake then over to Heart lake and down a few times. Takes about 8 hours one day forced march. :) I live right here in Forks the Elk are bugling and the Salmon are jumping up the Salmon Cascades right now. The HOH is great of course but the Sol Duc and the Quinault Rainforest are my favorite.

It is really hard to capture the enchanting magic of the Olympic forest. You did a great job. Great videography and music that is soft enough to allow the sounds of the forest to be heard. We were at the Hoh campground a few days before you. The rain was welcome. It cleared out Tillamook on the way south. Then we hit a lot more smoke through central Oregon down past the California border. It was thick through Lassen and I was surprise at how bad it was even East of Reno. The scope of the fires is incredible. Our prayers go out to the many victims.

I was planning to leave FL to Washington early August but mechanic was taking so long for my van repairs, fell short on gas money too etc. Thank God that happened because of the fires. Maybe this coming spring I will head on out there?
I got bitched out by a chipmunk in the cascade mountains in Washington back in the 90's. This chipmunk was seriously pissed off I was sitting on this dead fallen over tree I saw as a bench to rest for a moment. It was so aggressive and charging at me. I got up and left.
Turned out my class was pissed off I was late and held them up waiting on me to return. I planned to play hooky for an hour.
But I noticed Washington is a different world of it's own and really nothing in common with the same animal species etc in other states.

There are some great places to hike and camp in eastern Washington. Little more secluded and less populated!

a couple miles past the turn off to the Sol Duc road, going west from lake crescent, you will find the headquarters for the Olympic ridge walkers and it's a hub for Satchsquatch followers. That's where they held the national gathering a few years ago. I went, it was quite interesting and I think they are a great bunch of really grounded, experienced outdoor folks.
