I retired 10 years ago as an E-5. Your videos are accurate, though alot has changed since I was in basic. Keep informing new women about what to expect. Good job!
I went to air Force basic training in 1990 and our meal Time was about 3 minutes maybe five. Oh we had to drink two glasses of water before we could touch our food! For the first three weeks our MTI told us we could not have desserts either lol. I went from 110 pounds to about 95 pounds in two weeks from I ability to get enough food in those few minutes. We were allowed to eat snacks in the mail but we had five minutes to eat that.....so I had my family mail me an energy bar every single day after week 3 and that was the only way I kept enough calories to not pass out. My clothes were falling off...lol. I felt starved the entire six weeks. Got down to 90 pounds
Great video! I went through BMT in 1980--can you imagine that??--and retired in 2005, but what you describe is largely the same things, or at least the same kinds of things, I did when I was there, heh! I was at Mildenhall in the 1990s and then I was the superintendent of the 89th PAG, you either already know what that is or you'll find out when you get to Andrews :) As a matter of fact, I was at Andrews for 9/11! Anyway, good video, interesting stuff, and thanks for what you're doing.
Wake up is now 05:45 we only ran 3 times the entire time there. CHOW RUNNERS GOOOO the chow part is still the same. Try the desserts . She is correct move with a sense of urgency. This was such a great and accurate video. Don’t overthink it follow instructions exactly as they are told. This is just my input she was very informative I graduated Dec 15th. WOLF PACK LEAD THE WAY!!
You only ran 3 times? 3 times in the two months you were there? I find that hard to believe. How did people condition for the PT test that was required to graduate BMT? In 2005 when I joined, we ran 3 to 4 times a WEEK. Either a distance run or interaval training of some kind. Sure has changed a lot since then. Wow. And the desserts? Really?
Yeah we only ran 3 times. Our conditioning was CIT’s just like jumping jacks, high knees, maybe a jog in place etc. A bunch of people were washed back or barely made it due to that. We had desserts they weren’t great but they had flavor.
@@yung_carry6557 Absolutely ridiculous. Easier. Wow. You even looked at those desserts near the snake pit when I went through you would have gotten your a** wore out. I hate being "that guy" that is like "Ohh back in my day". But that is unreal. What a shame.
It is really great that you are making all these videos to help people. I entered Air Force basic training in 1987 and UA-cam did not exist. I did not know what to expect.
I’ve been loving these videos👍I’m planning on enlisting in the air force this May. Could you possibly do a section in your vids where you talk about how much yelling goes on in basic and how to mentally prepare for it? It’s the only concern that I have before going in cause I can be a cry baby sometimes 😅
My MTI was a female Blue Rope in the 4743. TSgt Barret. She was as tough as they come. I remember struggling with drill at the beginning because I had been in marching band when I was in school and we did our about faces the opposite direction. I loved Basic. It sounds like it has changed a lot since 1989 when I went through.
I went through BMT at Lackland AFB in June and July 1970. TSGT Hogle was my TI. He was the best. God bless his soul. After basic I went to Kessler for a few months then to RAF Chicksands for the rest of my enlistment. I was TDY to USAG Darmstadt, Germany for additional training at Christmas time in 1972. I joined to be a propeller driven aircraft mechanic. I planned to do that when I got out. Because of my test scores and the needs of the Air Force I was trained and assigned to the Security Service. I was very successful and I enjoyed my work but the experience and training was useless where as if I had been trained as a mechanic I would have had a civilian job the day I was discharged. The morale is, be sure you plan and work toward your goals after the Air Force.
Currently in the DEP! I’m really looking forward to the pt, mainly the strength training portion (I like powerlifting/ weightlifting casually) Any tips on the sit up portion?
id say everytime you think about doing a situp, stop what youre doing and do as many situps as you can and do that everyday and eventually you'll notice great improvement
Man, how AF BMT has changed over the last 35 years…. Yeah, it wasn’t this cushy back then. I’ve watched all your Basic videos and I can say with confidence, it’s nothing like it used to be. It kind of makes me glad it was the way it was back then.
I got up secretly because you can get in trouble for getting ready early but I wanted more time, so I set my watch to go off 15 min earlier. I would brush my hair, go to the bathroom and brush my teeth. I fortunately never got caught.
We can see that you are putting some young pre-military minds at rest. Brother/Sister Flight? (Google didn't help) What does that air force term mean please? Great glasses! Liked.
When you first get to Lackland you'll in-process and everyone will be divided into flights based on gender. Your brother or sister flight is the flight you do everything with. They will have gotten there the same time as you and will be in the same squadron, on the same floor and across the hall. It can be brother/sister, sister/sister, or brother/brother.. really depends on how many males and females there are at that time. You'll go to class together, eat together, medical appts, etc. There's also cousin flights who are in the same squadron as well and arrived the same time but not as close. Really just a term to describe closeness of the flights.
They don’t make you eat a certain amount but you have to drink a certain amount. And you want to force yourself to eat bc you only get 3 meals a day, you can’t just eat when you’re hungry. I was the same way at first.
@@MikaylaRoseDaly would you say after a while you kinda get the hang of it ? Like after restisting eating too much, you'll eventually just eat your food because you're worked all day and you need the refuel
This wasn’t mentioned in this particular video, but when you use your military benefits to travel different places are you the only one who can use them or could you bring someone with you? Like if I joined the Air Force, wanted to travel to say, Japan, and wanted to bring my brother. Could I do that or am I the only one who can travel with those benefits?
Thank you for sharing your awesome experience with us. I plan to join and wanted to ask. Will, we keep our phones inside the locker, and use it when basic training is over . . ?
10 minutes?!! THE F!! Shoot we got 5 minutes to eat..unless you were on an eating waver for being under weight..but they have changed since the time I went through
10 minutes to eat??? damn things have changed...when i was there in 02 you get bout 3, 5 if you played the system...if the table before yours didnt know how to play the system and they got up as quick as they sat down then you was screwed
Hi firstly thanks for information aboute all and can you pls answer if it possible to use a phone in the army ?and if it possible from what time I can call my family?
My friend was in just in the Army boot camp. He was able to call me and his family several times throughout the training but it is very limited. Sometimes I was able to talk to him for just 45 seconds, sometimes a couple of minutes. I also think it depends on the DS and if your division has done anything to revoke phone privileges.
Classes are like lectures, some times they give an opportunity to ask questions and interact but it’s mostly just following along in the book, taking notes and listening. I don’t remember having to introduce myself. And there’s no homework or presentations.
Lackland AFB, the lights are on at 4 am. The announcement is made the time, all lights will be on and all Airmen will be up. No morning showers, no PT before breakfast. I went thru Basic. Your a joke

I'm considering the military, and I just came across this channel. I think your videos are highly informative, and your channel seriously under-rated!
I did what I was told as quickly and precisely as ordered. I didn;t get yelled at one time. BMT is stupid easy. It is scout camp with rubber guns

Love the video, so good at explaining everything. Is there an age limit to joining the military? Did you always want to be in the military/air force?
Yes o believe the limit is 31-32
But the limit also depends on if you have a college degree or not
