    I do like a little bobber on the line when fishing for bait.. Love watching the bobber move, and kids love that too.

    Cool footage here bud. Awesome info for kids especially for the holiday time of year. You must be due for another trout video on a lake somewhere. It has been raining a lot though

      There's a commercial mullet fishery in lake Ellesmere, which may surprise some people. This is the Kaiapoi river.

    Hi Kevin, would you mind to share where this spot of kaiapoi river? I have 4 years old daughter going to teach her fish. Looking for very safe spot like in your video. Used to fish in waimak, but not very safe for little baby girl. Cheers

    You can use a 3cm lure and a 1g jig head to catch these fish

      For me I fillet them and put flour, pepper, chia seeds onto it and fry it.
      My grandma makes amazing herring herrings I think she would use egg in it it's so good though :)

      @@the_fly_must_die8491 Chia seeds? Is that to provide extra crunch on the fried fish?

    I'm just getting back into fishing for the first time since I was a kid and I'm Christchurch based. Would you recommend Kaiapoi river or is there other spots too? I was intending to go rock fishing at the 'Black Rock' Taylor's mistake spot but I'm not really in the know about these things

    Do you eat these mullets? People tell me mullets are not good eating, that they are dirty trash fish, and that they have a lot of bones. Anyway, if you eat them and like them more power to you and keep eating! I wonder if the common mullets that live in the Gulf of Mexico would eat pieces of fish like these yellow-eyed mullets. I've never seen anybody caught a mullet with bait before, the ones that I've seen caught were always being snagged with treble hooks.

    • @Kevinohanlons
      @Kevinohanlons  3 роки тому

      Yes, these mullet are good eating, but they are likely to be a totally different species to those found within the gulf of mexico.
