We would drive up the 90 looking for fins showing..stop jump out and I would run out the net on pole held on shoulder as in vid, long rope back to sand..200 - 300 mullet was normal per trip..then smokehouse..then Pub..with my mate Shanko..40 yrs ago. then shoot deer next morning..
Depending on the sea state, small tide around 1/4 moon you can often fish all through the tide, but when it's big tides there are only certain places you can fish at low or high tides. Hope that makes sense
how long is your net please? I have a 30metre. When is ideal time/day/moon phase for mulleting. some people say they can see the fins of the fish feeding. how's that possible? I don't even see that when I'm in the sea bodysurfing, swimming or surfing. mind you I'm not really looking for that when I'm doing those activities.
End of October to november and I will guarantee more mullet and bigger if you dont drag net incoming tide to high tide use a sand bag i will make a vid this month from bay of plenty area ..I have kept this secret for years
@@groundbreaker5525 just a follow up. how did you get on? did you get your video done? which is the secret buddy? the sand bag thing? i'm keen to see this in action. cheers:-)
@@matamataio4325 no I didnt was about and had a seizure found a huge brain bleed ...but will promise to do one this year ....the girl who died of shark attack had everything to do with the mullet run will explain later .....but might do a kahawai video soon as its similar and heaps of kahawai too ...one year fed 150 Vanuatu stuck at waihi beach no food no work for 2weeks taught them this trick they laugh when we set the nets ..then next morning 3 bins of kahawai 1 bin of huge paddle crabs .....they still are here 14years later
@@groundbreaker5525 wow, so sorry to hear man. hope you heal well. no worries and will look forward to that. yes i heard about that person who died at waihi. be interested to hear how, whenever. that was extremely nice of you to catch fish to feed the Vanuatuans. am keen to learn that trick for sure. i still haven't gone out for a drag still cos mates aren't too keen to do it - lazy buggers. hey thanx for getting back to me. take care of yourself and prayers for a speedy recovery. God bless:-)
