These are freaking awesome. I love these so much. I'm so glad that there is more books so this series can last longer. Thank you so much for such an enjoyable type of video
I love this series. Both the historical aspect and also the opportunity to listen to you talking out your decisions and amending any mistakes. I watch a lot of tutorials but I haven't never really seen anything like this where judgment calls need to be made. It's valuable to watch such a talented crafter such as yourself!
It looks more like a flower when it's single, but if there were supposed to be 6 done, then putting them together in a square of 4 and adding the 2 others as 1 to each opposite side, you might get more of a diamond pattern. I love mystery crochet and knitting patterns! Thank you for doing these. They're quite fascinating to watch and you do a fantastic job with interpreting the pattern.
This sort of pinwheel or poinsettia with leaves pattern is very nice. I would not be able to decipher these vintage instructions on my own. It is crazy how much I love watching these mystery crochets!
This would be pretty in color. It looks like poinsettia petals. Make the inside red and outside green. I swear of seen doilies like that in older ladies houses when I was a kid.
I worked this one along with you. A nice pattern once you got it figured out and yes in worsted weight yarn it’s big I used a 4 mm hook and it’s still big lol
I loved this one, my grandmother crocheted this exact one in thin white cotton, she had them on her dressing table, a wonderful trip down memory lane, loving these thank you for the memories ❤️❤️
I'm truly impressed by how calmly and quickly you decipher these old patterns. I like how you bring these patterns alive! I can only assume that either people had more common sense back then and could use their powers of discernment easier, or maybe not everyone could figure out these instructions. Who knows what I would have ended up with, hours later, with these directions!😂
I am enjoying this series so much! I watch while I work on my crochet projects. (Although, I do have to be careful that I stick to my pattern and don't start doing what you say without thinking, haha) I think if you were to do that last pattern with a fingering weight instead of the worsted weight that it would be just the right size to go over a hair bun! My mom made me some similar looking covers when I did ballet as a child, and they went over my bun to coordinate with the color of my leotard. I think it is possible you followed the pattern perfectly! 🥰
I love these mystery patterns. I really appreciate you sharing these patterns with us. It’s so much fun hanging out with you. Your voice is pretty and your hands are too.
I ❤ Baby Yoda Grogu . I watch the entire season 3. I like the embroidery kits and diamond painting and paint by number kits as well. Awesome video.❤ 🧶👍
You did and awsome job on this mystery pattern. I think you show great patience and hold your frustration in very well. I would end up with a lump of unrecognizable mess with most of your mystery patterns.
I've been binging these while working on matching granny square HDC rectangular blankets for myself and my mother. It's very calming and your voice is quite soothing to listen to. Thank you for these videos! I hope to see more of these.
I am working my way through the same book at the moment, so this is extremely well timed... I found that most of the patterns have some issues, which become apparent if you list down the sizes of the repeats. If round 5 has a repeat of 7 sts and round 6 has a repeat of 11, something's gotta give... I am not doing this blind like you, so I have some sort of inkling what this is supposed to look like, so I frequently use my discretion to amend the numbers...
Very pretty! Love spirals ❤ (that's what I see instead of diamonds), even though this is a soft spiral. I wonder if using thread would make it coaster size? Awesome tutorial! Thank you!
I really really like these videos. Especially because I am on a crochet ban due to very stubborn tendonitis. I really like to watch these to wind down after work or before bed. Happy to hear there are more books to come ^^
I am really sorry to hear that !! I cant imagine, but Im so happy that you can still get your crochet fix here :) yes ,plenty of paterns, we are just going to work our way through the decades haha
It’s interesting. I was like… “Wha t?” a bunch of times. Until you did the stitch and then it made sense. It turned out pretty nice. This is fun. TLC is a Red Heart Baby Yarn. By the scan number I was able to find out that it is lilac and that it is baby yarn, but I could not find a year.
This is so much fun. I really really love it. It is not just a way to try old patterns but it also makes courious for following projects. Thank you so much.
Very interesting pattern. You come out with diamonds if the join for row one is [chain 2, sc into 2nd chain, chain up 2 for the first dc] and [chain 1, half double crochet into third chain] for the rest of the rows., with a chain three as your first double crochet. When things weren't working out in rows 7 and 8 and then you uncovered the title at the end and it said Diamonds, I thought she followed that pattern well so the only other variable would be the join! I remembered this join from doiley diagrams in those French magazines from the 1980s (I still have them ALL!) that used the International diagrams. This join basically backs you up a stitch when working in the round. :-} Thanks for another enjoyable video--can't wait to see more of this kind of content. Take care. Begonia
I am in the middle of cleaning out my mom's "collectors" house. I'm finding dozens (maybe a hundred or more?) intricately crocheted thread doilies made by my grandmother and possibly her friends at the senior center. SO amazing! I'm very curious about the lack of detail and/or drawings in the antique instruction books. Were crochet conventions so well known that they didn't have to include the details? Very intriguing!
Round 7 at 13:55 you counted the two to skip, but then put your first treble in the second stitch you were meant to skip. The treble should have been in the treble.
I’m enjoying your videos so much. I admire how you can figure things out that would just bring me to a halt. I may have to crochet this when I finish my shawl. thank you so much, Loving it!❤😊
Love this. I have just retired and have the time now to crochet. Your tutorials are easy to follow and just love the older patterns. Thank you so much. Chris from Australia.
My opinion 😊 is when it says to miss a stitch at the beginning, you count the unworked stitches from previous row, the ones after your last chain. That way you are decreasing your double crochet stitch row 3,5,7,9,7,5,3? 😊 thank you for giving us these wonderful patterns!
Ok this one turned out better than I thought it would (I was really hating how it looked during rows 7-10 😅) but it was still fun to see the process and final piece
I'm loving the work but could you maybe number three patterns or number the videos as I keep seeing the same ones, even though I love watching them again I would love to follow them all. Thanks greatly Tracey from Australia
32:44 I’d have called that a flower rather than a diamond but hey-ho 😀 It would make a pretty centre to a blanket… So patterns 1-6 are all doilies including that strange ‘filet’ one?
Ya know? If ya just kept goin' making it bigger and figured out where to put some arm holes, it would make a cute vest And you could make a rufflyly edge to it and the back neck area can fold down kind of like a shawl caller with or without a ruffled border
I think I have one of these. I can’t remember if my mom made it with dk weight yarn or my aunt did it with thread. I love this series of you figuring these patterns out.
I it so fun to se you try these patterns. But im pretty sure that you started off wrong, and that is why it didnt become diamonds but a swhirley flower insted...hehe. In the second round you should have made sure that the dobbel crochet was directly under each other.. like one, tree, five, seven, five, tree, one if you understand my meaning. But you can try it and se how much different the pattern then would look! 😊
Who knew that watching someone crochet could be so much fun!🧶🧶🥰
Thank you!
Where can I get vintage crochet books for the 1800’s era

I love watching the pattern unfold, and listening to your chain of thought as you translate the patterns.
In a super chunky cotton this would make a great bathroom mat
Great work as always ❤️ thank you ❤️

Using thick yarns to make doilies just makes little rugs! I do it often 😅
Love watching you unveil the mystery row by row.
This one turned out so pretty! I would never have been able to arrive at this result from those instructions. You are a rock star🤩
Thank you so much! :)
Mum had this pattern and called it her Poinsettia Doily . Love from Canada!
Yes! My great aunt made these and taught me to crochet. Nice memories.
This sort of pinwheel or poinsettia with leaves pattern is very nice. I would not be able to decipher these vintage instructions on my own. It is crazy how much I love watching these mystery crochets!
Thank you :)
I honestly LOVE these tutorials.....🧶
I’m addicted to your Victorian mystery crochet and am slowly making my way through all your videos ❤❤ from England 🏴
Yes I remember these on the sofa and chair. Mother did a lot of crocheting!❤️
I never get tired of these. I've actually learned so much by watching. Great video series. :)
thank you! :)
This would be pretty in color. It looks like poinsettia petals. Make the inside red and outside green. I swear of seen doilies like that in older ladies houses when I was a kid.
I really thought that too :)
I just love these mystery patterns. You are so awesome and a great teacher. I love how explain in such detail.
Thank you :)
I worked this one along with you. A nice pattern once you got it figured out and yes in worsted weight yarn it’s big I used a 4 mm hook and it’s still big lol
I loved the last pattern you made. It would make a great snood or beret.
This was so pretty! I think using a cotton yarn, these would be pretty placemats!
That's so pretty! I look forward to each "new" pattern.
I just found your channel...I'm addicted already. I love seeing what the end product becomes.😊
I just love the mysteries. You jump straight in. I would have done some stitches differently and be wrong. Pretty pattern
I love your mystery pattern videos! It is fun to see these antique patterns come to life again.
I loved this one, my grandmother crocheted this exact one in thin white cotton, she had them on her dressing table, a wonderful trip down memory lane, loving these thank you for the memories ❤️❤️
That is super special, thank you for sharing.
I made several of these in the 80s with fine cotton thread, still have them, they are beautiful!

I fall in love with you again every time! We don't fail, we learn another way to crochet
well said! :)
Yes I learnt with English crochet stitches with great Diagrams of how to hold hook and each stitch. 60 years of pleasure. 18:25
Another great mystery solved! Loving this serious.
That was lovely, now cooking dinner. Thank you very much. ❤🙏

Oh, thank you so much for that! :)
It's a very pretty flower, it has like two rounds of petals🏵️
HAH! I called it a doily from the git go! 😊 These are fun!
You did a very good job deciphering this pattern. It turned out so gorgeous. I absolutely love this series of videos!
I love it so beautiful.thanks for sharing this with us
Thank you 😊
Thank you Corina, for this video.this dolie turned out really nice.I enjoyed watching the continuation on this series.
You're so calm figuring out these patterns. I'm not sure my nerves, temper, or language would survive. I ❤ these vintage tutorials!
Thank yo so much :)

Oh my! This all new to me, learning as i watch. Thanks for the tip❣
Very pretty! Love spirals ❤ (that's what I see instead of diamonds), even though this is a soft spiral. I wonder if using thread would make it coaster size? Awesome tutorial! Thank you!
My Grandma Hazel had a favorite pillow made of that pattern on her bed and several on her uncomfortable couch and chairs.
I told my husband you have got to be the most talented crocheter I’ve ever seen!! Btw your hands are absolutely beautiful!
oh wow, thank you so much for that :)
I really like the baby yarn as doily!
Such enjoyment from this series. Thanks.
Great job unraveling another mystery!
It's so fun watching you decipher these patterns!! You make it look easy 😊 thank you for sharing these ❤

Sorry about tendonitis, just getting over it myself. This too shall pass. Got Dr okay to crochet again. I agree about this great series.
Thank you Bonnie 🌻

I believe late 60 early 70. But I don't remember a lot of those years exactly right anymore 🤔😉
This is so much fun. I really really love it. It is not just a way to try old patterns but it also makes courious for following projects. Thank you so much.
That is so pretty. Thank you for doing this series, I’m really enjoying it.
This is so informative. I love watching this. I can’t wait for the next one all the time.
So awesome! This is so much fun. I’ve made the 1940’s baby bonnet!
Super! I always wanted to copy the one I have now I can thank you ! Have a great day
Just gorgeous! I can imagine this on top of a round satin pillow for the… boudoir! ❣️🌹
This is awesome. I have a doily just this same pattern passed down from several generations.
I love the vintage mystery!
Hi. Looks a bit like a Catharine Wheel. Pretty.
Really enjoy your mysteries!
These are great fun. You do an excellent job explaining what and why.
Great video and such fun to see the outcome. Looking forward to more of these mystery patterns so much!
It’s so relaxing watch you thankyou
Thank you 🤗

Love these videos. Please make book available that explains the plain stitch and so forth on these vintage patterns.
That’s not real easy for me to do , but you can find in on Internet Archives 👍
I could see that being a cute beret! Just cinch it in for the headband area with rows of decreasing single or half- double crochet.
Cute! I'd call it a pinwheel more than a diamond pattern :)
Love it and pretty straight forward, compared to some of the other patterns . Enjoyed the tutorial thx 🌻🧶
it really was lol :)
@@justvintagecrochet ☺yep
I absolutely love this shawl!!
Oh I LOVE this pattern. So pretty. I so enjoy following you. Thank you for sharing. You are awesome❤😊
So much fun. Love these
Your videos are so fun to watch! I come from a long line of crocheters and I love imagining my great grandmother stitching these patterns.

Greatest series EVER!
Very pretty pattern, if you use cotton would be great dishcloths. ❤🍁
Really pretty doily. This is one I’d like to make but I see myself in a big cuffuffle😊
It looks like a poinsetta. They'd make nice tree ornaments in a small size.
I saw the same!

My mom had this pattern. She was born 1915. She put the motifs together to make a doily. I have that doily upstairs packed away.
Ok this one turned out better than I thought it would (I was really hating how it looked during rows 7-10 😅) but it was still fun to see the process and final piece
I love it!!! I didn't cheat this time 😊
J'adore doilies et the mystère crochet et this channel 😊🌹

Very pretty. Now we know the first 6 are doilies
indeed lol :)
Beautiful
Love these videos.
