Can we talk about the camera work during the challenges? The lighting, the coloring, and the well-timed slow-mos, and the cast fully aware of their angles and how to use the props and the set to produce dramatic shots and sequences!
To be fair Big Brother without live feeds and only competitions especially in this day and age sounds like the secret formula for a total trainwreck. It's crazy how well it ended up working.
This show was a great surprise, after BB25 comps, I thought producers lost their minds forever but no, THE COMPS WERE GREAT! Fun, strategic and most importantly: equitable. I had an amazing time watching this, hope they keep the bar up for BB26
the cops were good but they were no more equitable than other seasons. Every single comp with the exception of the snowflake puzzle has been used before.
@@rawstmv Not the most recent season. Last season they were geared more towards athletic men. Evidence as to how many wins the men had for the season. I don't think it's because the girls were weaker at challenges, it's because they weren't built for them to be able to win. They even changed the wall comp, so what usually used to be a comp that people who are less top heavy, could win, now the athletic guys win because the design was switched up.
I wouldn't get your hopes up, to be honest. These people from Reindeer Games were all production pets. The producers wanted all of them to shine, so they had to "level the playing field" more than usual. Honestly, I'll be happy if BB26 still has live feeds. =P
Only 4 of 14 HOH'S favored men. the balance beam, the musical chair neither gorgon, the wall, and bb comics. everything else was mental puzzle crapshoot stuff. The Veots are too much Ill agree with that but HoHs are much more impactful game-wise so I'm okay with pov being more physical.@@turnipcrazy
As someone who has always been a fan of Josh, I credit his appeal this season to him not taking things as seriously. He never lashed out at anyone, when he was loud, he was much more playful about it, and he was on good terms with most of the house. He came off as enjoying himself more than usual and he really showed a desire to win while also being comfortable losing. On his most recent of the challenge, he both played better and also was a bit too chaotic, but here he was everything I wanted from him! I also admit I was happy to see Nicole come back in the best of showings! As much as I am still annoyed about BB22, she clearly showed she grew up a lot since then and I am happy she returned!
As someone who despises BB19 and everything it stands for, I've always seen Josh as someone who can be really entertaining but was just so obnoxious with how he went about it. I really enjoyed him this season and was actually rooting for him over Nicole in that one Santa's Showdown, which would've been inconceivable to me a few years ago.

I’m so glad for Nicole. And thinking about it, it probably feels SO good to open the internet and see people praising her, as she got a looooooot of hate the past few years. Not only did she win the reindeer games, but she won over a lot of people. I’m so happy for her.

The show not going for the marathon and instead being filmed as a more normal game show over a few weeks made it alot easier for cast members to sign up and agree to come in. Also was shocked to see how many bb fans could not wrap their mind around a normal game show lol

Based off of her 3 seasons of big brother, season of amazing race and now winner of reindeer games has made the finale in almost every season she’s competed on and shown time and time again that she should not be underestimated!
I loved this season because it was all fun and no fluff. We didn't have to get to know 16 new people and watch them learn to navigate the game or struggle to make alliances, they just got right into it and everyone selected was a fan favorite.
Xavier, Brittany and Josh were the standouts for me this show. Xavier being clutch as hell throughout most of this show. And Josh and Brittany were just funny as hell
i'd call it "first player to win a big brother series twice" because she did win twice, but i wouldn't necessarily call it just big brother. i think it deserves the same amount of credit as winning big brother twice, but just wouldn't call it the same thing yk?
Talk about "expect the unexpected"...a new Ethanimale video! I'm glad you enjoyed this spinoff as much as I did. It was good old fashioned holiday fun. My favorite part of this season was seeing the ladies surprise us and themselves with what they're capable of. From Brittany freaking out about completing the hamster ball puzzle to Nicole thinking facing off against Josh in an endurance comp was a death sentence to the underdog team in the ornament challenge (3 girls and 1 guy versus 3 guys and 1 girl) triumphing, Reindeer Games really showed that female players can be comp beasts and that they are perfectly capable of beating male competitors in physical and mental competitions. I thought it was sad throughout the season how much the women underestimated themselves and each other, but I could see their confidence growing with every success, which was so great. It was so exciting to watch Nicole and Taylor, two fabulous ladies and well-deserving finalists, duking it out at the final two, all the while being competitive and classy, only saying good things about each other. The cherry on top then was watching Nicole surprise herself by winning (I think she called herself a "frumpy mom" 😢). She was so awesome this season and absolutely deserved it.
I wonder how much this little spinoff will influence future big brother seasons. If you keep the competitions this way, with a bit more social game, it could make for a fantastic season
Nicole has been my all-time favourite on big brother US. She is always underestimated and people love seeing the underdog make it far. She always manages to make it deep into the game by her social connections and lowering her threat level. Despite all the hate she gets you cannot say she isnt one of the best to ever do it.
This was a phenomenal season. It's actually better then plenty of the regular seasons. I enjoyed everyone on the cast. Josh is the most entertaining person consistently on reality TV and like you said I really came around on Nicole and was proud of her for winning.
Would be interesting to see where people rank Nicole now for all time BB players, because I can see her being up to #3 overall at this point and to me is the clear #1 for female players. Apart from "I hate Nicole" as the spoken or unspoken reason, im not sure how anyone can have her outside of the top 10 players of all time now, and really feel that putting her outside of the top 5 would at least require some interesting logic.
Well, I'll go ahead and touch on the "interesting logic" you've mentioned. For starters, in order to rank Big Brother players, you have to establish some ground rules. For starters, what do you think makes somebody a good BB player? People have different opinions on what a "good BB player" is. Big Brother is not a game that can be set in black and white. What is your definition? What is it about Nicole's playstyle in particular that makes her such a standout to you?
@@DVal-bl7hm Success is being able to play well, if not one dominant performance (see Derrick) routine strong performances which is why Nicole to me is the #1 female over types like Vanessa, Danielle, Rachel, etc. Nicole finished 7th (being clipped by Derrick early as a threat), 1st, 3rd (final part of HoH away from 1st as she probably beats Enzo) and 1st (in this abridged season). The best BB players are those who can routinely replicate their ability to make deep runs (Nicole finishing top half in every season, and top three while actually being a potential winner unlike Paul who is more of a Russell Hantz) to me is pretty much the ideal player. Despite every single player in the game knowing how strong of a player Nicole is, she will pretty much always make a deep run. If you took a house that was all of the winners, managed to wipe their memories of who anyone was, had them play a game and you had to pick someone to make jury to save your life... Nicole might actually be the chalk pick because yet again, no one will come for her, she will worm her way into an alliance and make a run. Arguably the single best "wolf in sheep clothing" player in reality TV. Never seen as a threat, and then suddenly you blink and she is a challenge away from winning. Not the best TV... but easily one of the best to ever play the game.

As someone with Asperger's Syndrome (and an aspiring engineer), it frustrates me when people don't follow an objective criteria to evaluate BB players over each other. Second, while I agree with many of the things you have said, I still have a few questions about Nicole's BB Legacy that gives me some reservations with her: playing on BB 3 and 1/2 times, constantly being casted with (and shielded by) a Califiore brother, her architype benefitting her in modern BB, not being casted with a massive "drag-a-long" pawn (e.g. Derek F), competition equability. I don't even know if you would want me to elaborate on my thoughts, because it would be such a long, exhausting comment to read. But thank you for sharing your thoughts.
@425v-s Precisely! And Victoria STAYED over Nicole when they were on the block together in BB16, didn't she? The point I was trying to make was that Nicole has a tougher time surviving the block against repeat pawns like Victoria. She was lucky she didn't have to worry about this as much in her other seasons.
Honestly, it was hard not to have extremely low expectations giving that Reindeer Games were announced as a "show all about competitions" right after BB25 in which the competitions made the season unwatchable. Bad marketing and bad timing, but I'm glad that we got the show, as it gave all of us hope.
The rainbow wig at the beginning "Chef's Kiss". I knew the Nicole & Britney convo in the beginning was Important, I just thought that meant Britney was winning. I was even calling her the Reindeer Queen. This season had no right to be this good as we saw the producers put a level of effort we hadn't seen before. Like with the animated intro, it wasn't great but they didn't have to do it at all. If there is a season 2 who do you want to see compete, some on my list would be Rachel Reilly, Johnny Mac, America & Dr. Will.
The fact that Nicole has been on Big Brother 4 times (BB16, BB18, BB22, and now BB Reindeer Games) and has won half of them is a crazy thing to think about. She definitely uses being underestimated to her advantage every single time she has been on this show

i hated nicole, like probably in my top 3 least favorite bb players ever, but after RG my mind is completely changed i was actually rooting for her and was happy when she won when i went into the show saying i didnt even want to watch bc i couldnt listen to her again
This season gave me faith for All Stars 3, which should happen sooner than later, many iconic houseguests who deserve their second shot, third shot are getting old. If the cast could be good, pregaming was prohibited and MAYBE some twist to avoid big alliance dominance, the name Big Brother All Stars could be restored.
Your video essays on seasons are always so so entertaining. I would watch videos reviewing players games in certain seasons even if they aren't winners like Vanessa or Frankie. I babysit the kids of one of the producers for big brother, and he told me how much he loved filming reindeer games. It makes me so happy seeing people like the show :).
what i really enjoyed about reindeer games, you highlighted in your video! the comps were so fair across the board, it was amazing watching competitors like cody and cameron get competitions that aren't likely to be easier for them than others. while i do think cody is a great competitor, for as much as he discredits some winners, it's very fitting to see him be an early boot in a season that doesn't favor his strengths. xavier i think of everyone dis-benefitted(take this lightly, it's not a huge dis-benefit) from this as a winner, strategically being unable to give britney anything in a conversation to the point of her being shocked this guy won big brother was already really sad. THEN to admit to britney later on who your ally is and who you were trying to save by attempting to feed britney to the sharks for them.. the only positive for xavier is that he did so well in competitions, but i don't know that it really does a slim athletic man any justice to be a comp beast nowadays. only props i can give is that he won numerous unique challenges and that got him to the final 5, he was certainly luck taylor and others wanted to work with him based on him being a previous winner, or doing well in challenges! taylor and frankie both did amazing obviously and proved why they're two GREAT big brother players. it was especially interesting seeing taylor go from playing at the bottom on her original season to this season where she was fully confident and once again displayed an amazing social game. (tangent: it's sad how america soured on her for having the nerve to not be an 'underdog' this season lmao. i really wish the fan base was able to be self aware and not fall for the underdog story every time.) frankie did really well, socially i'd say he did less well than taylor, BUT i'd say for the first half and middle of the game he did better in what frankie does great at and that's competitions. it was so interesting seeing two players who felt so evenly matched go at each other all season. nicole completely redeemed any negatives i thought of her, the fact that everyone came in looking at cody and frankie and KNOWING what kind of game they play but nicole ONCE AGAIN managed to play a sneaky game where she hides behind bigger threats to make it to the end, and once again wins a big brother franchise is insane. if she's EVER on another season i genuinely hope the players acknowledge from the beginning how big of a threat she is and don't let her fly under the radar because nicoles longevity in these seasons speaks for itself that she's one of the best.
So I disagree with calling X 4th place and Frankie third. I think it was a tie for third. Either comp could have been played before the other and the timing of the comps should not dictate places at the same tier of the competition.
all though it isn't a conventional season Nicole is now technically an only 2 time winner, has been in a final 2, 3 TIMES, and still holds the record of most days in the house, she could potentially be one of the BEST players now with an amazing track record, even better when you compare to Cody. At the very least is now the best female player in big brother history because shes come to show she can go the distance every time
Also as a longtime Ethanimale viewer I was already predisposed to appreciate Josh, but that DR session with him in those crazy positions cemented my enjoyment of him!
How fire would all kids season be it just be pure chaos and half the time probably bad gameplay it’s really fun to watch and there could be towards the end there’s kids who would never stick to an alliance or deals because their kids just imagine big brother without people feeling bad about doing stuff or repercussions. Idk why people say Paul was a bad player he should have admitted to everything yes but Danielle should have evicted Lisa instead of Amy At final 4 And Paul making a cult yes he did was amazing
I think this is a much better alternative to another full on all stars season. It's an easier way to cast the big names since filming is only for 10 days-2 weeks and they don't have to live there (basically like coming to set every morning). Hoping they do it again next year with people like Rachel, Dan, Janelle, and Da'Vonne.
I didn’t watch Reindeer Games because it seems like an utterly boring waste of time. But this video made the season look like a lot of fun. Thoroughly enjoyed watching this and I’ll binge the season this weekend. Thx E!

Talk about "expect the unexpected"...a new Ethanimale video! I'm glad you enjoyed this spinoff as much as I did. It was good old fashioned holiday fun. My favorite part of this season was seeing the ladies surprise us and themselves with what they're capable of. From Brittany freaking out about completing the hamster ball puzzle to Nicole thinking facing off against Josh in an endurance comp was a death sentence to the underdog team in the ornament challenge (3 girls and 1 guy versus 3 guys and 1 girl) triumphing, Reindeer Games really showed that female players can be comp beasts and that they are perfectly capable of beating male competitors in physical and mental competitions. I thought it was sad throughout the season how much the women underestimated themselves and each other, but I could see their confidence growing with every success, which was so great. It was so exciting to watch Nicole and Taylor, two fabulous ladies and well-deserving finalists, duking it out at the final two, all the while being competitive and classy, only saying good things about each other. The cherry on top then was watching Nicole surprise herself by winning (I think she called herself a "frumpy mom" 😢). She was so awesome this season and absolutely deserved it.
I wonder how much this little spinoff will influence future big brother seasons. If you keep the competitions this way, with a bit more social game, it could make for a fantastic season
Or maybe the format should really just be this! It seems the most balanced, fair, strategic and exciting
Nicole has been my all-time favourite on big brother US. She is always underestimated and people love seeing the underdog make it far. She always manages to make it deep into the game by her social connections and lowering her threat level. Despite all the hate she gets you cannot say she isnt one of the best to ever do it.
She’s so good I love Taylor. This was a great show and spin off, a very happy surprise I did not have high expectations.
This was a phenomenal season. It's actually better then plenty of the regular seasons. I enjoyed everyone on the cast. Josh is the most entertaining person consistently on reality TV and like you said I really came around on Nicole and was proud of her for winning.

Would be interesting to see where people rank Nicole now for all time BB players, because I can see her being up to #3 overall at this point and to me is the clear #1 for female players. Apart from "I hate Nicole" as the spoken or unspoken reason, im not sure how anyone can have her outside of the top 10 players of all time now, and really feel that putting her outside of the top 5 would at least require some interesting logic.
Well, I'll go ahead and touch on the "interesting logic" you've mentioned. For starters, in order to rank Big Brother players, you have to establish some ground rules. For starters, what do you think makes somebody a good BB player? People have different opinions on what a "good BB player" is. Big Brother is not a game that can be set in black and white. What is your definition? What is it about Nicole's playstyle in particular that makes her such a standout to you?
@@DVal-bl7hm Success is being able to play well, if not one dominant performance (see Derrick) routine strong performances which is why Nicole to me is the #1 female over types like Vanessa, Danielle, Rachel, etc. Nicole finished 7th (being clipped by Derrick early as a threat), 1st, 3rd (final part of HoH away from 1st as she probably beats Enzo) and 1st (in this abridged season). The best BB players are those who can routinely replicate their ability to make deep runs (Nicole finishing top half in every season, and top three while actually being a potential winner unlike Paul who is more of a Russell Hantz) to me is pretty much the ideal player. Despite every single player in the game knowing how strong of a player Nicole is, she will pretty much always make a deep run. If you took a house that was all of the winners, managed to wipe their memories of who anyone was, had them play a game and you had to pick someone to make jury to save your life... Nicole might actually be the chalk pick because yet again, no one will come for her, she will worm her way into an alliance and make a run. Arguably the single best "wolf in sheep clothing" player in reality TV. Never seen as a threat, and then suddenly you blink and she is a challenge away from winning. Not the best TV... but easily one of the best to ever play the game.

As someone with Asperger's Syndrome (and an aspiring engineer), it frustrates me when people don't follow an objective criteria to evaluate BB players over each other. Second, while I agree with many of the things you have said, I still have a few questions about Nicole's BB Legacy that gives me some reservations with her: playing on BB 3 and 1/2 times, constantly being casted with (and shielded by) a Califiore brother, her architype benefitting her in modern BB, not being casted with a massive "drag-a-long" pawn (e.g. Derek F), competition equability. I don't even know if you would want me to elaborate on my thoughts, because it would be such a long, exhausting comment to read. But thank you for sharing your thoughts.
@425v-s Precisely! And Victoria STAYED over Nicole when they were on the block together in BB16, didn't she? The point I was trying to make was that Nicole has a tougher time surviving the block against repeat pawns like Victoria. She was lucky she didn't have to worry about this as much in her other seasons.

Say what you want about Frankie, but he slayed this season.
Honestly, it was hard not to have extremely low expectations giving that Reindeer Games were announced as a "show all about competitions" right after BB25 in which the competitions made the season unwatchable. Bad marketing and bad timing, but I'm glad that we got the show, as it gave all of us hope.
The rainbow wig at the beginning "Chef's Kiss". I knew the Nicole & Britney convo in the beginning was Important, I just thought that meant Britney was winning. I was even calling her the Reindeer Queen. This season had no right to be this good as we saw the producers put a level of effort we hadn't seen before. Like with the animated intro, it wasn't great but they didn't have to do it at all. If there is a season 2 who do you want to see compete, some on my list would be Rachel Reilly, Johnny Mac, America & Dr. Will.
The fact that Nicole has been on Big Brother 4 times (BB16, BB18, BB22, and now BB Reindeer Games) and has won half of them is a crazy thing to think about. She definitely uses being underestimated to her advantage every single time she has been on this show

i hated nicole, like probably in my top 3 least favorite bb players ever, but after RG my mind is completely changed i was actually rooting for her and was happy when she won when i went into the show saying i didnt even want to watch bc i couldnt listen to her again
This season gave me faith for All Stars 3, which should happen sooner than later, many iconic houseguests who deserve their second shot, third shot are getting old. If the cast could be good, pregaming was prohibited and MAYBE some twist to avoid big alliance dominance, the name Big Brother All Stars could be restored.
It is 9/10 would be 10/10 if Taylor won.

I babysit the kids of one of the producers for big brother, and he told me how much he loved filming reindeer games. It makes me so happy seeing people like the show :).

what i really enjoyed about reindeer games, you highlighted in your video! the comps were so fair across the board, it was amazing watching competitors like cody and cameron get competitions that aren't likely to be easier for them than others. while i do think cody is a great competitor, for as much as he discredits some winners, it's very fitting to see him be an early boot in a season that doesn't favor his strengths.
xavier i think of everyone dis-benefitted(take this lightly, it's not a huge dis-benefit) from this as a winner, strategically being unable to give britney anything in a conversation to the point of her being shocked this guy won big brother was already really sad. THEN to admit to britney later on who your ally is and who you were trying to save by attempting to feed britney to the sharks for them.. the only positive for xavier is that he did so well in competitions, but i don't know that it really does a slim athletic man any justice to be a comp beast nowadays. only props i can give is that he won numerous unique challenges and that got him to the final 5, he was certainly luck taylor and others wanted to work with him based on him being a previous winner, or doing well in challenges!
taylor and frankie both did amazing obviously and proved why they're two GREAT big brother players. it was especially interesting seeing taylor go from playing at the bottom on her original season to this season where she was fully confident and once again displayed an amazing social game. (tangent: it's sad how america soured on her for having the nerve to not be an 'underdog' this season lmao. i really wish the fan base was able to be self aware and not fall for the underdog story every time.) frankie did really well, socially i'd say he did less well than taylor, BUT i'd say for the first half and middle of the game he did better in what frankie does great at and that's competitions. it was so interesting seeing two players who felt so evenly matched go at each other all season.
nicole completely redeemed any negatives i thought of her, the fact that everyone came in looking at cody and frankie and KNOWING what kind of game they play but nicole ONCE AGAIN managed to play a sneaky game where she hides behind bigger threats to make it to the end, and once again wins a big brother franchise is insane. if she's EVER on another season i genuinely hope the players acknowledge from the beginning how big of a threat she is and don't let her fly under the radar because nicoles longevity in these seasons speaks for itself that she's one of the best.
So I disagree with calling X 4th place and Frankie third. I think it was a tie for third. Either comp could have been played before the other and the timing of the comps should not dictate places at the same tier of the competition.
I hope we get a reindeer games every year, heck give us a summer version too.

all though it isn't a conventional season Nicole is now technically an only 2 time winner, has been in a final 2, 3 TIMES, and still holds the record of most days in the house, she could potentially be one of the BEST players now with an amazing track record, even better when you compare to Cody. At the very least is now the best female player in big brother history because shes come to show she can go the distance every time

After the slog that was Season 25, Reindeer Games was such a breath of fresh air

The bar was super low, but Reindeer Games kicked the crap out of BB25. The whole thing was such a treat from start to finish.

How fire would all kids season be it just be pure chaos and half the time probably bad gameplay it’s really fun to watch and there could be towards the end there’s kids who would never stick to an alliance or deals because their kids just imagine big brother without people feeling bad about doing stuff or repercussions. I will forever shout this from the rooftops: Britney Haynes is an INCREDIBLE Big Brother player. Everyone loves her for her DR sessions, but she is so smart, strategic, and socially savvy.

I think this is a much better alternative to another full on all stars season. It's an easier way to cast the big names since filming is only for 10 days-2 weeks and they don't have to live there (basically like coming to set every morning). Hoping they do it again next year with people like Rachel, Dan, Janelle, and Da'Vonne.
I didn’t watch Reindeer Games because it seems like an utterly boring waste of time. But this video made the season look like a lot of fun. Thoroughly enjoyed watching this and I’ll binge the season this weekend. Thx E!
