If you could do a video on nutritional advice on fattening/finishing cattle, based on your own opinions, with cost comparisons against using silage and high energy fattening cubes. That would be interesting. We poor small farmers here are using old fashioned system with shear grab and buckets 😢

Great video Gerry it’s a long run for carrots . We’ve got very fussy about the way our vegetables look . when there’s a bit of a scarcity suddenly produce that was not fit for human consumption last year is ok this year food is too cheap for the producers and too dear for the consumer.
More money for Gilpins. He will be able to pay a bit extra for ground next year. 😂

No I Havnt. We are planning to grow either beet or maize next year.
Are the carrots more expensive than the potatoes? Are they as a good a feed as the spuds, or do you have to adjust the diet? Thanks.
Carrots are a bit cheaper the spuds. I find cattle eat a bit more carrots so I don’t adjust the diet. I think it should even out, bit less feed value but eating bit more.
It's crazy what food the big producers can only sell for animal feed, I bet the majority of these carrots will be fine to eat.

Push you into buying a trailing shoe by discontinuing grants on dribble bars. Any one with dribble bar is fine to continue using it. It’s stupid really. Dribble bars are great tool. Know contractors with both. And the see no difference in performance of the 2.

Does you tube pay well or how do you afford so much fancy machinery for a beef farmer Gerry?
No certainly not. You wouldn’t want to be relying on UA-cam to pay for anything. Other than the tractors. Some of our machinery is bought with issues or in need of repair. So keeps cost down. Other things like slurry tanker, sprayer and furrow press were eligible for 40% grant. So it’s a big help.
Hickeys in Ardee would be good for carrots 🥕
One of the tractors he rebuilt from scratch himself. Very good series on it if you look back on it.
