Great Video, theres nothing like a good vice (bench mounted) to deal with rusted joints also soaking then in oil and and or penetrant, thanks for sharing

Great video. We got rid of our starlings by keeping a few cockerals about the yard. It works. The starlings think there a bird of prey and wont come near.

Excellent video. I got fed up carrying milk and I just went and purchased an auto calf feeder this year. Just top it up with powder and monitor the calves on the phone. Easy 👍

Happy with it? Even in a new calf house I think I would pipe milk to the calves and batch feed them over automatic feeder. Not sure.

@@FarmTheoryNI Very happy. My shed is terrible and I really need a new calf shed like the one in the Grasstec video last week. Only issue I have is some calves refuse to suck from the teat of the feeder so they have to stay and be fed manually. I think this is to do with the teats I use when as babies, are different to the machine teat so I need to use the same teats so no difference which I will be doing this week. A part from that, it’s a life changer.

Buy a fuel transfer pump for around 100 euro and use it on the cart, no lifting buckets, you can have a flowmeter on the nozzle.

I actually have one here, that is a very good idea!

A fuel transfer pump is not a good idea. It can crush the fats in whole milk and cause calf scour. Better getting a proper milk pump and meter( rotech..).

A good workbench vice could make your plumbing a bit less painful. A flow meter and a length of hose might cut out the buckets,

not to seem like a smart a-- ,could you just adjust the flow of milk into the bucket by opening the value less.,halfway or three quarters.

Do all your calves drink milk as opposed to suck on feeders? What's your thoughts on teat vs drinking? Calves look great!

Great video, how come you don’t use PLCs for your control and monitoring systems?

To expensive and too restrictive to what I want to do. Building the entire system provides great flexibility.

You should gap sheet the roof in your calf you will surprised how the airflow improves I was in a similar situation you feel the air moving and when you get to end of march and April the rising hot air can get away 11:25 11:25

I thought your idea of auto empty drinkers was unnecessary until I was watching this video all finished up back in bed and remember the cows had dunged in one of there drinkers and i forgot to empty it.... I got one of them milk carts from fane valley and the more expensive one was because it had the mixer in it for powder milk I don’t think it’s anything to do with the tap I could be wrong though

Drinkers have been a very useful project so far. I am struggling to adjust sensitivity but getting there! One drained this morning at 7am, not sure why, cows weren't drinking from it but the drinker looked clean.
