Tip: If you are doing fish quest on the side and don't want you first to spoil and can put the rare fish into you storage then from your storage to your net that way it stays fresh in the water and you have heaps of free space.
If you want to save time on the clock when covering long distance use the boost but come to a stop while cooling down. Time only advances when you're moving. It will take you more real time but will save you game time. This is more useful early in the game when the ship is slow.
Hot tip: you can move fish into your trawler nets from storage at the floating docks or greater marrow (cargo>storage>nets). Holding fish in the nets keeps them fresh forever letting you deliver to stone slabs or hooded figures without rotting.
Another tip that you all might find helpful is dont hold haste, instead tap it rapidly. This makes it last just that bit longer and you can cover more distance. Hope this helps!
For the hooded men's quests I used stone altars, the fish does not rot when it is inside which gives us time to collect the 3 types of fish, once that is done I am go see the matching hooded man
I swear I'm so addicted to the game I've started over so many times I can't count, I just hope they add more locations, fish, quests, and some new interactions with the world.
I play it a lot - and last play managed to escape leviathan - it appears randomly around Marrows (and off borders), just good engine - mine was 105kn (10 smalls) and haste - straight to pool between Marrows harbors - the rocks in water stop leviathan. That is why Major said to don't go behind Marrow because of danger. Leviathan always make sound, but chase you. Also little boat hiding from it, ask you to deliver message to dockworker - tells you leviathan can't chase you in low deep or space.
To get more research parts, got to thw shipyard at any travelling merchant and purchase them. Then exit and sleep for a while, go back to thw shipyard and they will be restocked.
Welp, since the game is complete now, the 2nd and 8th tip are no longer necessary since the Hooded figure quests are no longer on a cooldown, and the map now has markers
A tip i didn't see any one mention : you can get research part from the crap pot, although its not happening often, but if you got a good amount of crap pots you will get few research parts.
Ah the stone slabs, if your able to do all of them you would only need to research up to a volcanic rod. The first one gives costal and shallow. The second one gives you the best crab pot in the game. The third one give you a abyssal hadal rod. And the last gives a oceanic mangrove rod. Yes you will have to switch alot but it does save on parts(alittle too much cause i had no clue what to use my research parts on after). Wouldn't call this a tip cause i had to look on youtube to find out the required fish for the third slab.(The more you know in this case.)
The Alter Rods you get also have a small bonus in a chance to catch Aberrations Though I would argue the Fathomless Winch is the best bang for the research parts. As it might be your first Oceanic capable rod (and is just a straight upgrade to what the first one might be) for only 4 research parts (one for bottomless line you need anyways to finish the researchers quest, and three for itself). Plus since it can handle oceanic it pays itself back quickly while being more compact. And basically makes the Viscera Crane (the third one you mentioned) redundant outside of a neiche of having the basic ocean rod to get the sharks needed, but not wanting to pay the research or money to get Fathomless Winch. Though does beat out the Bottomless Lines in speed though or if 2% aberrations are your fancy. But using All Altar gifts would be an interesting challenge run. Especially if you had to use only the DLC Arterial Engine to complete the sinewy set. And the Tempered Mesh net to cover both the lack of Volcanic and there being no grotesque net (but at least it's red).
How do the shops work? I unlocked the 1 Slot engine at first, thinking i could buy only those, but then realized there was only one to purchase. Do the shops refresh daily? Is it the same with other items?
Yes, they refresh each visit, same as other things or u can save then load back in and they r usually available again. That's what I did to obtain multiple jet engines and explosives etc
Good tips there, but I'm struggling with the rods... seems you can't put an older one in storage once you've bought a different one, having to keep ditching them and repurchase the same rods, which doesn't make sense, though it is affordable to do so. My boat is fully upgraded, yet i still don't understand this process, same with nets. I've plenty of wasting storage space, the rods and nets could easily have fitted here, oh well. Only tip i can add is to use that teleport ability if you're about to die, saving you losing precious items. Hate the hooded guys too, should never had been timed, we need those books. Also on ps4, some key info is off-screen!!! I do love this game, though !!!
On PC the button for storing your items is the middle mouse button. For me it does work, but I'm not sure which button it is for Playstation. Maybe look in the settings :)
After you speak to them first time, you have limited time to deliver them fish or they die. Their body stays in the same location tho, they just dont respond. Happened to me first run.
This doesn't help someone who has never played the game before, as your title implies, i.e., BEFORE starting the game. I don't even know what a QUEST ITEM *is* let alone what to do with them. Please try some reading comprehension in what you mean by "BEFORE you play the game" because you explained absolutely nothing about the ACTUAL beginning.
I agree with the OP, most of the joy and satisfaction in these games comes from figuring out and discovering things for yourself. The only time I watch vids is to see how someone else approached a tricky bit, after I’ve already done it, or if I’m genuinely stuck on a task after trying everything I can think of. But ultimately it’s all people’s opinions, nobody is pretending there’s rules about play styles.
@@keenannash2947Dredge is no fun if someone spoils all the surprises, it’s not as scary being jump-scared by a monster that is disguised as a shipwreck if someone already told you there are fake shipwrecks that try to get you.
Wish you had subtitles on your videos. Its very very hard to understand what you are saying.. Firstly you speak super fast and secondly you have an accent so.. Wish i could get some tips and tricks for the game but sadly i must seek another video for help.
Tip: If you are doing fish quest on the side and don't want you first to spoil and can put the rare fish into you storage then from your storage to your net that way it stays fresh in the water and you have heaps of free space.
Ohhh I didn't know it could go from storage to net! Very handy.
It's going from storage to cargo and cargo to storage not to net?
If you want to save time on the clock when covering long distance use the boost but come to a stop while cooling down. Time only advances when you're moving. It will take you more real time but will save you game time.
This is more useful early in the game when the ship is slow.
Yes, thanks! I mentioned that in another video before :)
Tip: the ship upgrade menu at dry docks can also be used a storage space for materials - even the wrong ones for the upgrade
Hot tip: you can move fish into your trawler nets from storage at the floating docks or greater marrow (cargo>storage>nets). Holding fish in the nets keeps them fresh forever letting you deliver to stone slabs or hooded figures without rotting.
I didnt knew that!!!
Another tip that you all might find helpful is dont hold haste, instead tap it rapidly. This makes it last just that bit longer and you can cover more distance. Hope this helps!
I heard about that one. Will look into it. Thanks!
So it's basically bunny hopping, but for a boat.
For the hooded men's quests I used stone altars, the fish does not rot when it is inside which gives us time to collect the 3 types of fish, once that is done I am go see the matching hooded man
I keep the fish in my traw net. Tho of them a net catchable, so kept them there untill find third one.
Infected fish are still valid for stone altars and quests.
I swear I'm so addicted to the game I've started over so many times I can't count, I just hope they add more locations, fish, quests, and some new interactions with the world.
Seriously this is the funnest game I've played in a long while. Really hope they add some meaty dlc.
15h to finish and I took my time
I also really enjoyed it!
Developers already announced on Steam that a paid DLC is coming to Dredge 🔥
I see potential in your channel man, keep on the grind
Thanks man, I really appreciate it! :)
I agree 🙌

Thank you for the great video buddy, many learning points!!
Thanks for watching ;)
I really wish this game was a bit longer, so that I could actually use this tips.
Me too :/ but there are still a few things you could do like 100% the game or smth like that :)
Make a video about the lore it'll get a lot of views!
(also A LOT of people are confused about it even after completing the game, including me!)
Yeah, I could do that :) thanks!
To get more research parts, got to thw shipyard at any travelling merchant and purchase them. Then exit and sleep for a while, go back to thw shipyard and they will be restocked.
Its better to exit the game and restart. The parts arę restock emediatly

Yes, you are right

i lost the builder and proceed to do other quest lmaoo, i just realized i can go back to the previous saved before i lost the builder..
atrophy one for clearing encyclopedia should be helpful thank you
Im glad I could help! :)

Yes, I mentioned that later in the Video!
Am I the only one, who didn't have a clue where to start with this game? And ended up more confused after watching videos.

Great video. Subscribed.

Thanks! :)
Very helpful thank you
Complete Dredge but you can’t rotate items into your boat
Also try to get the achievement where you have to completely fill your ship, it’s called Perfect Packing
Thats sound painful, thanks for the Idea! :)
Np!
Oh i have one painfull idea complete dredge whyout upgrading your boat
That is indeed painful😅 There are a few things that will be problematic with that but I could imagine some solutions.
The thought alone hurts me. Imagine the pain of volcanic area with slow boat.

I hate the hooded figures thing! cmon!
Yeah, its pretty annoying
I did not realise the hooded figures would die :(
Hello, this game is good, relaxing, best regards
Well, all the hooded figures are dead in my playthrough haha
Gracias
the hooded figures are no longer timed. complete them at your own pace!
Timed missions no longer exist in the game.

Happened to me too, sadly🥲

I could make another real "beginners guide" you are right
If you watch videos like this before playing a game, you're playing video games wrong.
Yea, cause you're the authority on how people need to play video games...
