I sold everything and bought an old truck and an old slide-in camper and took off. I was 27. It was the best thing I ever did. I had some adventures., met lots of nice people and eventually settled down 1000 miles from home which was the second best thing I ever did. I wish I was 27 again because now I am 63. Disabled and back home and can only watch other young people traveling around. Have fun with your van. One job for you to consider is tree planting over the winter. Hard work but quite the experience!

The things you learn about yourself, the world & life when you're in a campervan driving aimlessly wherever you want to go is one of the best feelings.
I did it after a terrible break up / grandparents passing away all around the same time. I felt like I lost who I was. Being in a campervan made me fall in love with myself again. Made me appreciate what has happened to me in my life and what it taught me.
I hope you do it and the best of luck to you.

Don't let things like woodworking turn you off from building out the van exactly the way you want it.
There are a lot of soft skills that can be acquired easily with just some reading and research on the internet.
I never sewed anything in my life before, and just recently finished a full backpack project from scratch with a $50 garage sale sewing machine.
If you want it, go and get it. Don't be daunted by what you see other people do on their van builds. You are you're only limit.

I encourage you to try it!! Do you have a van already? You can start out taking weekend trips and see how you like it. You don’t have to do anything fancy. Watch the first few episodes of vancitylife. He had a really easy way to make a bed platform. And he starts out really simple.
I think living in a van would be easy by yourself but a little more trying with 2. My main problem is finding a good free spot to park. But if you could go camping in a van that’s perfect or live an outdoors kind of life.
      Also climate is a consideration.
I wish you well!! Even if you could just do it for a certain time frame and save some money...

    Hi from New Zealand,
I'm sorry about that comment I do not know what went wrong?
Excellent viewing and thank you for sharing your van set-up. Danielle, It is amazing the carpentry and engineering skills one has when you put your mind to it😊👍 I live in an Isuzu Elf Cargo truck that I converted into home. Simple straight forward cozy home.
Thank you Danielle Degutz and man for sharing home with the World😊👍

Very nice build. It looks very efficient the way you have everything you need stored away but still handy. I just bought my conversion van 2 weeks ago and am still doing the mechanicals and once completed, I will begin the build. Thanks for sharing your van and I wish you both many miles of great times and safe travels.

I admire your courage on taking on a older gem and for making it work for you. When I get my van, I will probably put a twin bed in and make it horizontal to the van, with the kitchen and storage also horizontal. I could make storage under my bed and in the back. But I'm glad that layout works for you folks. I look forward to seeing your progress

I do farm work in the fall while living out of the van. Since we've got no bills we can save most of it to get through the winter. I also sell art and play banjo on the street and work odd jobs for people I meet. Usually don't have that much money but I've been broke plenty of times and know how to live with very little.

We've been working on a 5 x 10 trailer. We basically have done exactly what you guys have done. I picked up the old trailer for $500. Cleaned it up good and fixed leaks. The trailer was used for mobile car wash. I would like to keep up with you guys. My girlfriend and I are currently in alabama. We've gotten jobs so that we can do repairs and make our home better. You guys have been doing this longer. I'm sure that we can learn from you guys.

Thanks for sharing and allowing me to realize everything doesn't have to cost so much to do van life( part time for me) without all the overpriced cheaply made ones I saw at the rv dealerships today. It is insane what they're asking for things you can do yourself like hanging a net to keep bugs out $780 crazy

I like how you are able to handle some of the repairs yourselves. That's the scary part for me

    • @Christopher-cq6bz
      @Christopher-cq6bz 3 роки тому +1

I think its intimidating for a lot of people. Definitely was for me but I finally got it in my head "ill handle it when it comes to having to handle it" and with a lot of vanning groups on facebook, and youtube videos, there is so much help. No question is a stupid question. The vanning family for the most part is a beautiful community and people want to help each other.
After only 3 months of having my 78 chevy g20, I'm repairing things that I never thought Id be able to.
trust , you have it in you! It's only the fear of the unknown, you'd be surprised what you're capable of.
