Well said. This is a full time BUSINESS. Not a 9 to 5 JOB that you clock in at. If you are trying to do this as a Part Time gig, you are cheating your clients and your referral sources out of your full attention.

I like this, but don’t say that some people CANT, instead say that some people won’t. It’s all about effort, only thing stopping people is laziness, and lack of motivation. Saying some people CANT will feed into that lack of motivation. God bless.

I hate to agree with him but there are just some people who are NOT capable of being good sales people and a job that requires you to operate at a high level unfortunately requires not just a lot of grit but natural ability. We hate to think that but it's unfortunately true. When I was on a sales floor for Medicare every February the managers would come around and start terminating 1/2 the office because they simply didn't meet the criteria- it's not for lack of trying, to be a good sales agent you have to dance a razor's edge of compliance and manipulation and most people simply can't do it.

I’m going to throw a bit back at the lenders on this one. Most make the decision to spend little to nothing on training and lead generation and they just cycle through and endless stream of loan officer prospects.
I have met almost no LAZY MLOs who have been in the industry for more than a year.
I see no shortage of mortgage companies that will invest zero in their own loan officers and just say that those who aren’t successful must be lazy or stupid.

Money and sales goals will never ever come before family and friends. Money is great- It improves your life, your families lives, and maybe even eventually those you donate to. It's powerful. It feels good. However, if I'm dying tomorrow, I will not sacrifice time with the ones I love. See... here's the thing. We bust our asses to get to the top and usually it's for FREEDOM (or in some cases just sheer power and greed). But where is your freedom if you're a slave to money?

I am looking to make a career change here with about 10 years left in my working life. I am leaving the finance and insurance industry after about 16 years and looking at either becoming a real estate agent or mortgage lender. Doing research on both but one question I have at the moment if you could answer and I appreciate your candid video here. Are there typically production quotas on the mortgage lender to maintain one’s contract? I know real estate agent does not have production quotas. I thank you for any insight.

No mortgage lender is ever going to tell you these things because they need numbers for metrics. When I signed on with EMC my regional VP and lead LO sold me the world and that my job would be easy. Periodically I would be told the cold, hard truth, but I would mostly find out on my own. I ended up getting out of the game after 6 months and chose not to renew my license.
Had I been told all of these things from the start, researched more then I did, and even been more honest with myself in regard to sales, I never would’ve wasted money and time with this. It actually took me an entire year to get my life back on track when I got started with this BS
