The funniest thing about it is that Peterman somehow doesn't realize that the sample cannot possibly have been Elaine's.

Fact: Poppy seeds do make a test positive for opium but lab tests will know the difference.
One of the best sitcom twists, Elaine getting her job back but not getting to go to Africa because "she has" the metabolism of a woman in her 60s.

Its not entirely a misconception, if poppy seeds are unwashed, they can be detected. Addicts try to find unwashed poppy seeds, and make poppy seed tea to get a fix. But all the major brands in the US are going to be washed seeds.
In the Marines people failed all the time because of poppy seed muffins. Low tolerance test mixed with having to do them every other month. We even had to receive a class on it. Where are you getting your info exactly? Because it’s false.
