Your company going to the trouble of not only listing the tools required for each step & component but also having the mechanic specify which one(s) is used at every step of the way in the process is INVALUABLE information!
Such a great service!
Thank you for making "the dig through the toolbox" that much easier!

This was fantastic, thank you. I did this once in high school auto mechanics class 20 years ago, but have to admit I'm a bit rusty haha. You're a great teacher, thank you for explaining everything so clearly. I feel confident going into this now. Just got quoted over $1400 to have someone to take out these bolts and put them back in for me. I think I'll keep my money and do it myself, thanks!
Excellent video, I just finished replacing the struts on my 2008 Elantra guided by these instructions. I used a wrench instead of vice grips, and even though my car is 14 years old, and has over 250,000 miles on it, there was much much less rust and corrosion and no acetylene torch was needed, although I did need to buy an impact wrench. One note, if you are going to replace the sway bar links, do both at once, i.e. jack both side of the front of the car up. Much easier to get the lower bolt off the l inks.
I did this! Man, I feel like a monster!
Proud of you!
I'm not even going to lie you just made it look so simple compared to what I was taught or told I should say but yeah respect dude thank you.

Greetings 1A, great vid and thanks. If I may, * a block or jack stand under the rotor works well. * a quick touch of heat with the penetrating oil if the bolts are stubborn. * for the DIY folks, take a wire brush on your drill and clean up the underside of the strut mount. Give yourself an additional 20-30 minutes to let a couple light coats of Rustoleum rusty metal primer to dry before installing the new one. Do it carefully and it won't be visible HOWEVER, for that extra step you're avoiding "singin' the blues" later when the mount rots away . . .
I was about put down $1500 to get all the sway bars, ball joints and struts changed. Luckily I ordered the parts for super cheap from a parts shop and will do it myself
Perfect - thanks! And I’m glad to order the parts thru you folks, there are a ton of off brand assemblies for sale online, having a recommendation for a quality set is worth a few bucks over just buying the cheapest and hoping for the besf
I bought two of these struts and both bearings were bad. I had to remove both struts again and re-use the old ones. Of course, it wasn't from 1A auto. I bought it on Amazon. The company or seller gave me the whole money back and I keep the struts, so I just did my part, and now is correct. If you buy whole assembled you could finish with this problem.
Finally you guys are using air tools again, I get it they can be done with handtools but we all know that. and I was recommended Uni paint markers.I hate that those wheels are so rusty I went ahead and painted my wife's 09 Sonata.
This is a very good demo guide. In total how long should it take to replace both front struts?
Wish you had complete struts for my 2012 elantra gls touring
Loved dealing with you guys on my 2002 stratus
Good company
+Shane Clark Thanks so much for the business, it is appreciated. Sorry we don't have the parts this time, hopefully it is something we will have in our inventory in the future!
Great video. Do you not torque the sway bar link nut? Also, in one of your "don't do this" videos you suggest not using vice grips for the sway bar link bolt, but you do use a clamping vice grip in this video. Which is correct?
Great Vid, will the car require an Alignment after changing the struts?
Nice video with clear instructions...really appreciate the torque specs on the bolts. Does the car require a front end alignment after this job ? How long after installing the new strut assembly should you wait before having the alignment if needed ?
Thank you for the great reply. We love to empower our customers by showing you how to perform your own auto repairs while installing our high-quality auto parts.
Yes, the vehicle would require an alignment to be completed after replacing the front struts. It is suggested to have it done as soon as possible after the replacement.
Hope this helps you out! Have a great day! 1aauto.com +glamdring0007
Hammer Time 😃. Great video.
+William Ivery Thanks for checking us out!
6:05 nut accidentally falls... "I'm gonna put this one down on the floor so I can find it later" hahahaha Composure: 100
Sway bar link on my car was so rusted on one of the struts that the nut could not come all the way off. Took it to a shop where the only thing they could do was cut the bolt. Now I can replace the final strut, but I definitely need new links. I mangled the other one pretty bad trying to get that one off. There's gotta be a better way to design these so you don't need to use a vice grip, maybe a hex collar instead of a circle
Great video
Nice job bro. Greetings from to Turkey.
+Oto Lite Thanks for checking us out! 1aauto.com
I know some vehicles do, but does the 07 sonata have to have a realignment after replacing the struts?
I feel like my order inspired this vid can y’all do a vid for the rear shocks ?
+BanksGaming We currently do not have an auto repair video that covers this particular repair. We will keep this request in mind in the event that we need to make this repair in the future. 1aauto.com
Anyone know a part number for the two bolts holding the knuckle to the strut? Mine were bad and the nuts did not fair well coming out. Thanks in advance.
Front end alignment needed when replacing the front struts?
Do you have to change both struts? If one is bad?
Is there a difference between the left and right struts?
+E Esna Yes, the front strut, and spring assemblies are side specific.
We’re can I buy a pair of those locking pliers ????
Thank you
+myles martin Thanks for checking us out! 1AAuto.com
Did everything step by step and the sway bar link doesn't line up with the hole on the strut
Can I remove and install front quick struts without a hoist? Thanks
You can.
Perform the task on level, paved ground utilizing a floor jack.
Secure the vehicle with quality, properly rated jack stands & wheel chocks with the parking brake fully applied.
