    I’m re watching these old videos because my brother just had a baby and I’ve forgotten the newborn stage since my guy is almost 7. As for the muslin blankets, I still use ours even now! They are called ‘boogie blankets’ now for snotty noses and I always have a few in his room and in the playroom. 6 years later they are still being used. Such a long lasting gift 👍🏽

    I would suggest doing your own research on all products. the sleepyhead it's called dock a tot in the U.S is not safe for sleeping and any breathing/heart monitors that aren't medical equipment have been shown to be unreliable in research.

    I love your channel but the first product bumpers are a HUGE! SIDS/SUDSI risk! I recommend not using that first product and NOT putting an infant face down to sleep. Always on their back to sleep. As a mother, baby nurse, I had to say something. I love the car seat.

    • @HelenEk7
      @HelenEk7 6 років тому +47

      I was very surprised by that as well. Here every doctor, midwife and nurse will tell you to *never* put your baby to sleep on their tummy. The result is that crib deaths have gone down with 92% (!). (Norway)

      I understand that its a huge sids risk. but sleeping on their stomach is sometimes the only way you can get them to sleep. My baby will only sleep for 15 mins max on his back. If you try and put him on his back he will wake up almost instantly. My mother has had 7 kids and all of us have slept on our stomachs. Of course ALWAYS supervise your baby ESPECIALLY on their stomach. I cannot stress this enough.

    I have been wondering why Sleepyhead/Dock-a-tot has a different name in the US and I just realized why. It's not an approved sleeping thing in the US to use anything even breathable crib bumpers with a side on it unless it's a crib with nothing in it, so I guess they cant have the word ''sleepy'' in their name. Random thought but it just dawned on me because I was considering getting one but my pediatrician warned against it so i did some research and apparently it's considered safe in the UK but not in the US *eyeroll*

    • @bethanybrown2022
      @bethanybrown2022 6 років тому +10

      Mama Bee it’s not considered safe because of research that shows babies should sleep in a crib, pack n play or bassinet and on their back.

    • @zzevonplant
      @zzevonplant 5 років тому +8

      @@bethaniecarlson3047 Ever think there might be a good reason they won't sell them in Canada...? Is it really worth risking your baby's life so you can get them to sleep a couple hours longer at a time? Doesn't seem like a good trade off to me. Sure, plenty of babies are fine in these, but trust me, you sure as hell don't want to end up being one of the parents that gets VERY unlucky.

    • @littlequickfire3296
      @littlequickfire3296 5 років тому +3

      The American Pediatric Association would recommend laying your baby in the middle of the floor (no carpet underneath), with nothing within five feet of the baby, if it didn't sound so ridiculous. Nobody wants to risk being slapped with a lawsuit in the US. It is a safety thing but undeniably cultural too.

    • @mumhacks8620
      @mumhacks8620 4 роки тому +3

      They aren’t recommended in the UK for nighttime sleeping either. It’s a big misconception here, the instructions say you have to use when in alert or semi alert state. Any doctor / midwife would say not to use these in the UK

    • @GardensOfChina

      It is unsafe especially for overnight sleep. If it's during day time & the caregiver is alert then it's probably a much less worrysome item.

  • @GardensOfChina
    @GardensOfChina 3 роки тому +1

    Love everything else but be very careful with the 'sleepyhead' thing - the Lullaby trust (that fights against sudden infant death in UK) clearly explains why those are not safe for overnight sleep. The Snuzpod is already smaller than a cot & our 3 weeks old has been sleeping fine in it since day 1.

      Kasia Solska thank you for bringing this up I didn't want to be the only one who mentioned this. I am a nurse in the US and have read so many research, articles and have gone to numerous conventions about SIDS. It has been proven to reduce the chances of SIDS so please moms even for a nap 😴 even with the monitors please don't risk it please have them sleep on their backs. If research proves this please don't risk it and just get in the habit and also baby in the habit of being on their back.
      If you do decide to get them in swimming classes for emergencies they learn to flip over on their backs anyways as a life saving technique so it might help with that too 😉

    I would have to disagree with about half of your list personally, but my children are 13, 8 and due in June. I had many of these things for my previous pregnancies and found they were a waste of money. Nothing more so than the bouncer and the sling. We become dependant on the bouncer so we van have "us time" when it's easier and better for baby to play and bond while they are awake, then have us time while they are asleep or bonding with daddy. And I could never find a sling or carrier which didn't hurt my back. Instead I found that snuggling with my babies was better on my back and for things requiring 2 hands I made the most of having a supportive husband who could either carry baby or lend a hand. Although the pram/car seat looks good, it is also not as safe as having a full proper car seat which doesn't separate. And you still need to buy a new seat a few months later. We opted for high safety and practicality with baby number 3 but to each their own

    Thanks for this video!! I'm expecting my first in May and am obsessed with following you on social media. I know I sound like a creeper, haha. Wish you were in Australia so you could hold my hand through it all! I love your products but wish they were all available here. They look like such great quality, especially those pram blankets! Can you do an updated video on hypnobirthing? Your birth with baby Jackson looked so pro, haha....hoping to be natural and need some top tips. You're such a great mum and I hope to be like you xx
