    I have made 3 pies so far using this recipe because I never have butter at home and it turned out SO GOOD. For the first one I made a cherry pie. It was half of this recipe for the bottom crust and then a can of premade cherry pie filling. I didn't do anything on the top because I really wanted the beautiful red filling to show. It turned out so good. I also made a walnut pie with this recipe. I used this for the top crust and bottom crust and then for the filling I made a normal walnut/pecan pie filling but instead of using melted butter I used oil in the filling. It turned out SO AMAZING. Last night I used this recipe to make an apple pie and I used the channel called tasty I used their apple pie recipe. I did the filling just like they did it put instead of using their pie crust recipe I used this one and it turned out so good. This is a great recipe and I totally reccomend it! Thank you for this recipe ma'am 💜
    Also if anyone is having trouble transferring the rolled out dough onto whatever their going to bake the pie in I can show u an easier way to do it than the traditional way. Under the dough put a big piece of plastic wrap then sprinkle flour ontop of it and roll out ur dough. Then once its rolled out take the dough from under with the plastic wrap on it and flip it onto whatever it baking ur pie in. Finally once it flipped remove the plastic wrap and cut the excess dough from the sides. Hope this helped :)

    I am looking for a healthier substitute for butter that's how I came to this video. I love Nigerian pies but the thought of consuming 250 -500g of butter in say 3 days is frightening to say the least !

      Now you are eating 250 grams of oil in 3 days. Hmmm... fat is fat you ain't escaping that, and unless you are using olive oil, butter is way healthier than vegetable oils.

      butter is actually very healthy, unlike vegetable oil or margarine.

    • @Meccarox
      @Meccarox 2 роки тому +1

      The oil is much lower in saturated fat. Saturated fat causes heart disease. Replacing saturated fat (like butter) with unsaturated fat (like oil) substantially reduces the risk of developing heart disease.

    • @danielbaronne753
      @danielbaronne753 2 роки тому

      @@Meccarox Not at all. There is absolutely no scientific research to backed what you said. There is zero evidence that fat, saturated or otherwise is bad for health. It is the toxic processes used in the making of margarine and oil that is the issue. Before 1930, most of the world used butter and lard for cooking and heart diseases were extremely rare. They tell you oil is better because it is a more profitable products

      hi saido, this pie crust can be used for sweet and savory (skip the sugar) filling like an apple pie, if your staying in a cold area this crust can stay at room temp while doing your filling.. in case you'll use a 9 inch pan just make sure to double the recipe for top cover. POKE it around with a knife and twist it a little about a dozen or so for the steam to escape (if using a 5 inch pie plate, the recipe is good to cover both top and bottom).
      bake your apple pie in a preheated oven at 400°C around 50 mins or until top is golden brown, depending on your oven (protect the rim with pie ring or a foil so it won't get burn).
      *Brush it with milk and sprinkle with a bit of sugar before putting in the oven to achieve that crystal brown top.
      i never tried freezing the dough since it only takes literally few minutes to make it and might take a while to defrost it.
      i guess you can to try prebake it around 350 to 400°F for 10 mins and always always poke sides and bottom of your pie crust with a fork to let the steam escape, otherwise it will balloon up, from there maybe you can freeze it..💞

    How long and at what temperature do you bake this for?

    • @CraveMates
      @CraveMates  3 роки тому +1

      hi halil!
      if the recipe calls for a prebake crust try popping it in the oven around at 350 to 400°F for 10 mins and don't forget to poke sides and bottom of your pie always with a fork to let the steam escape so it doesn't balloon up..but i usually bake it along with the filling like on my custard recipe, baked mine at 375°F for 20mins then lower it down to 325°F for 50mins or until top is golden brown..for apple pie set oven to 400 (depending on your oven) and bake about 50mins or till top is golden brown as well.. 🧡

      i suggest you go for regular type such as canola, palm, or vegetable oil (just to avoid that strong flavor on your pie crust). haven't tried it with olive oil yet but i've seen couple of videos using it so it should work.
