Really pretty sparks. I made a little version of that while ago and that was so hard to tuning without coated insulator, for this reason I think you can coat the connections with such as insulator, because of corona discharge you possibly have decreased efficiency. Arrangements of the gaps important too, especially first ones for timing. Great work!

i tried making a multi stage tea laser nitrogen laser from one of these kits, even casted a couple special shaped spark gaps so beam was aligned . wanted to ionize a beam of air to dump stored potential on target of beam, but failed to get a strong enuff beam .

Other than parts & construction what is the difference between a marx generator & a tesla coil?
I saw some people use inductor coil to replace those resistors in this circuit
If you added one larger capacitor…. The high voltage Marx generator would provide a path for it to discharge and you’d get a MUCH more impressive lightning.

@@NerdlabsSci You can do parallel but it seems this gentleman used a series setup... see "Asymmetric Marx Generator".. ignore the annoying music and it's in Korean but there's a general schematic in the video. Be careful, I'm sure that circuit can bite you really hard... could be quite dangerous so be extra careful my friend.

@@thathalfthaiguy i've heard marx generators can produce EMPs. I wanted to try zapping some old electronics, light bulbs, and a plasma ball for a youtube video. I will check that video out asap
