By the way I do know that I spelled Toroid Toiroid @ 0:25. LOL This link leads to a google docs page that shows my schematic and some other info docs.google.com/document/d/e/2PACX-1vQ8wCJTwDVnj_xtaXubASdz6n9JKMyKQPHzIoSmeUzt8jYEpDiptqd0hhvTXAivE_6BgGfLhk0BgaH_/pub
I just wanted to say I loved your video .I'm working on a project of my own where I'm making a plasma toroid and creating a globe by myself. Being in my first year of college, I wanted to do something a bit crazy and fun. I’m looking for more information about the pressure of xenon needed for the plasma toroid. If you can provide different ways to communicate, that would be awesome. Thank you
Watching how it interacts with everything made me feel like I was watching an otherworldly living thing, conjured into glass cage. That was beautiful! Thank you so much for sharing with us.
Thanks so much! The super stable plasma toroid, with the wide air gap coil, gave me a eureka moment. Now I have a much better understanding of how these work.
I clicked onto this video, thinking from the thumbnail that it might've been something I'd seen already, and while it is like other plasma toroid videos, I was pleasantly surprised by how you presented this information. My favorite thing about this is how you described all of the things you tried in chronological order including points where you mentioned you forgot to record, and what your initial thoughts were of the problem as you tried to solve it.
watched your old videos and aren’t you the smartest kid ever??? i’m a grown up and i feel like i have SO much to learn. old enough to be your mother and you’re inspiring me 😊 keep up with the good work!!!!
this is absolutely beautiful, and I feel like I've been transported back to 2010 with the video style. I absolutely love cool physics projects like this and am super hyped to see more from you!!
Keep up the great work! Keep thinking and testing new things! And start a way we can donate to you to help fund your next projects. Never give up and keep pushing the limits
Lucky me! Finally a fun youtube algo pick, in a category I like AND a new channel! When you blow up Kibly, remember, we we're the first 1k subs 😉 Really cool vid btw! (sorry for your voice breaking. Used to annoy the hell out of myself when that happened. But at least it'll sound better when it's done ;))
This is such a wonderful video :] I love the progress along the way even with missing certain things you still put in that you missed them. I find that fantastic showing testing, failures and success as well. Great work!!! :]
Appreciate your honesty with all the times you should have been filming but weren't! I think you know what the answer is: film everything and pick and choose later what goes in final video! If you can discipline yourself to do this, you'll go a long way.
FINALLY!!.....your video provided me with the information i've been searching for for such a loooooong time,,,knowing that there are arcs produced on the primary coil confirms it is high voltage, not the normal kind tho, buuuuuut also means i can do away with the self oscilator circuit and just use an augmented high voltage ac....by itself i suspect the ac alone wont work though cz the impulse from the capacitative discharge is necessary to create the toroid,,,but as the toroid in this nature is not what im going for,all i needed to know was driver coil conditions and that little shock you got told me everything i need to know so I can do without it,and progress with the circuit augmentations,,,,anyway thank you very much for your efforts, youve helped shine light on something i was stuck on for abit.
Very cool seeing another person do this. until now i think only a few people have successfully made a plasma toroid and posted it on UA-cam, The science behind it i believe was only recently re discovered and put out their for free, it's cool to see these machines being made and used. The glass orb like thing filled with whatever gas it's filled with is the most expensive part from what i remember from watching another Video as in the orb is usually obtainable for Hundreds of Dollars in USD. I'm not sure why The Orb costs so much tho. Perhaps it's mostly to do with the cost of the Gas itself.
The gapped (outside) coil works better than the contact coil (inside) likely because the gap greatly reduces capacitive coupling between the coil and glass. It is also much easier to maintain even capacitive coupling all around to minimize distortion with a consistent insulation gap than wire-to-glass contact.
That makes a lot of sense. Thanks for the feedback. I do think another big factor could just be that the circuit is more stable in the 3 turn configuration and the plasma toroid is having less of an effect on the waveform, and distortions of the magnetic field aren't amplified as much leading to more stable plasma. That's all theory though. 😁
@@kiblybuiltit3304 The circuit certainly needs tweaking as other people who have done toroids seem to be running under 20W. Something is definitely not optimal there. First thing I'd do is swap out the thick solid wire on the primary for multi-strand to reduce skin effect losses.
Finally a video that takes me back to when the You in UA-cam. Also congratulations on winning the physics prize! I hope the prize money was enough to offset the expenses or at least off set it somewhat
welp, i just found this channel, and im impressed. wishing you much luck on your future youtube maker video career! i can definitely see serious potential in the making here. keep at it! liked, subbed, and of course, heres my comment!
Nice! That reminds me a lot of me and my Tesla Coil days when I was 14. I've killed more than a few NE555 of my ignition coil high voltage generator, magically uninstalled printer drivers and killed the printer at the same occasion. UA-cam wasn't a thing back then...
I just randomly stumbled uppon this video :3 good work! I thought about trying it out with a plasma globe some time but if the pressure isn’t right… i might try with a mason jar under vacuum though. Just need to find the motivation to throw together the circuit. Thank you for the video! The toroids look awesome
VERY COOL. keep up the good work. you already have a good attitude, and it shows. that will go far. got my subscription. interested to see what you think of in the future. good luck!
Hey there! Subbed for my daughter, she loves these projects! On your channel, keep up the good work! Here are some quick tips: You've got this! Focus on the fun and why you started. Failing is okay, it's part of the learning process! Make videos you enjoy, the right audience will find you. Haters gonna hate, focus on the positive comments that keep you going. Take breaks if it gets overwhelming, UA-cam should be enjoyable! Its tempting to you other videos as a benchmark for the value of your projects, remember that making those epic videos takes a lot of time and experience and many of the other channels are people's careers and full time job. Can't argue with that scheduling. Just so long as it's a day ending in Y.
(Accidentally invented a day that doesn't end in "y") _Oh no._
@@nullpoint3346 OMG, what have you done?! 😱
Yesss, old school UA-cam style videos are back!
Yt ain't so old
why do I get the feeling one day this channel will be right up there along with ElectroBoom, EEV blog and the likes??
Ikr
No. It has been done by others. This is just copy cat.
I agree, I'm immediately getting BIG styropyro energy, ngl!
And btw, UA-cam algorithm just picked up this video, so good luck!
Aaaaaand again
Thank you, (and the UA-cam algorithm) for showing me this hidden gem of a youtube channel.
Amazing project!
5:50 "and it only draws 130 watts!" that took me off guard :D
Good Job!
Nice real old school YT vibes from this video, just people showing off the cool shit they make, lovely!
Got randomly suggested on this on the algorithm. Keep up the great work.
That plasma ball effect you had around 4:58 was pretty awesome.
By far the coolest thing I've seen in the past month!
That's it, the spark of excitement! You've got a long and prosperous science career ahead of you! And a new subscriber 🖖😉

Pretty cool! Keep on keeping on...I'll be sure to watch.
your editing & commentary styles are super funny :) this vid (and the whole project in general) are awesome, i’m happy youtube recommended it

Insulating the bulb from the coil seems like an improvement that all of the bigger channels have overlooked.
That's a good looking toroid! RIP power supply

Wow that looks really cool! I really like the color of the plasma!

awesome, but I gotta ask, where is the 130w going?? that seems like a substantial amount of energy and I don't see a substantial heatsink anywhere
