Original Movie: Batman vs Superman
Just to be crystal clear, Batman did not spare Superman because their mothers have the same name. Batman has spent a year and a half obsessing of putting out a godlike alien he thought was evil and monstrous. It wasn’t until Superman pleas for Batman to save his mom that the alien becomes humanized. At first, Batman became even angrier because he thought it was just a trick to manipulate him. Only when Lois stops him and confirms that Martha is indeed’s Superman’s mom’s name, he realizes that maybe Superman isn’t so different and bad after all.
Yeah I always thought this moment was overly hyper fixated on and over memed. I'm by far not a Snyder defender but I like this sentiment a lot, the execution could have been better I guess but that's the whole move.
Yep 👍
Yeah, I thought people really missed this point. The coincidence of their moms' having the same name just brought Batman out of his kill-mode, and then yeah, asking your killer to save your mother is incredibly hopeful like humans can be, like Batman has "fallen" from.
No people understand it perfectly. It’s a good concept but horribly executed.
So, how did Clark know Bruce's mother's name was Martha? Clark can't just look into someone's mind and view their memories.
My favorite scene is Clark talking to his ghost dad. My dad passed away in 2013, and one of the last things we talked about was the Batman & Superman movie announcement at comic con… so seeing Kevin Consner (who looks like my dad) saying “I miss you son” had me tearing up in the theater
Me too
Leading to a side by side parallel of bruce talking to his father figure❤❤
I'm so sorry for u❤
A flashback scene would have been better. Remembering something your dad said, or thinking about what he would have said are OK, but seeeing a full blown taking hallucination is a sign of a serious mental problem.
@@jfwalden2105 [scene from Extended Cut] One of the local folks remarks “He’s come here to die.” coz that particular peak was apparently unscalable or something? Safe to assume that he did kinda hallucinate and the conversation was somewhat him remembering the Lang farm story since he asks Costner “Did the voices(?) ever stop?” and gets “When I met your mom. She was my world.” which pays off during the Doomsday battle.
Honestly, as much as I like the film, this has been one of my gripes. It basically shows you stuff while under-explaining, over-estimating how in the know the audience would be. Not even saying “It’s too smart for most” just saying that the writing keeps things too close to the chest.
VKunia doin her best Kim Possible cosplay 😂
Was thinking Daphne, then her ad came on wearing purple
I keep saying this! She only needs cargo pants
Gal-Gotit or Kim-possible?
Amazing hair, need to know what products :)
Vkunia: "This is why we don't nuke aliens!"
Ripley: "Don't tell me what to do."
Batfleck was very good for this stage of Batman. More senior, he's been doing what he does a long time, lost colleagues to his nemeses over his career of fighting crime, and certain things about his "rules" are beginning to bend when he takes on his enemies. At this stage of his life, Batman is a brilliant brute, and a darker knight than when he began.
I enjoy them casting an actor that knows the character, and is a big big fan. I won't hold him responsible for the execution of the overall DC universe on screen. Same with Henry Cavill. They were both great choices as actors for their respective roles.
And then to honor Superman’s sacrifice, Bruce reformed and changed his ways to follow Superman’s example.
@@MRLuckyE85 I didn’t like Batman until I saw this movie, batFleck is my favorite Batman
I don’t care what people say about this film. Ben and Henry were awesome at Batman and Superman
Facts
Awesome Razzie winners
same brother. It was a good movie!
Ben Affleck was an AWESOME Batman. Old, grizzled & jaded. So good
Great Batman, but better Bruce Wayne IMO
And a murderer :D
I remember how people were complaining of the choice of Ben Affleck before the movie came out, but yes he was great in the role.
He was definitely the best Dark Knight version IMO and the best overall Batman !!!
He was the best part of the whole movie IMO
I loved this movie, as a DC fan I waited a long time to see the holy trinity together, when I found out that Ben Afleck was going to be Batman, the first thing I thought was "oh not another pretty boy", but now he is my favorite Batman of all
Agreed. Brutal Ben crushed it
Now I'm gearing rumors of the guy who plays Reacher, Alan Ritchson I think is his name and, absolutely on board. Dude is 6'3, like 250 lbs, and imagine him with dark hair and probably make his 6'5 with the boots on?! Not someone to fuck with haha
Hearing* rumors he may be the next batman
If you continue with Justice League, make sure it’s the Snyder cut.
yes and also wonder woman
This x 1000 Snyder cut
yes please V (coment for she can read) :3
Another vote for the Snyder cut. There is simply no comparison.
Snyder cut wasn’t worth the extra time.
This Batmobile is a combo between the first Batmobile and the Tumbler.
Batfleck in the warehouse is still probably my favorite action scene in a superhero movie of all time. It's a brutal ballet.
Now go watch zack Snyder's justice league.
She needs to watch Wonder Woman first
And Suicide Squad (2016).
@@DankBlitzwing why that?
@@Star1337-onlineits part of the universe, and even thought it was butchered by warner, its not an horrible movie
34:59 I want to point out something flatteringly unique about this fight sequence. Movie after movie shows the hero to have totally badass fighting skills in a group by having him fight one of them at a time. While he’s fighting one, the rest just hang back and watch.
Not here. Here, Batman actually takes on the whole group at _once._ _No_ one holds back.
19:58 Watch carefully just after Bruce "wakes up." You'll see a sheet of paper falling. Dreams don't blow documents around. That "dream" was a vision imparted by The Flash visiting from the possible future Bruce saw.
Yeah. The blast knocks him out after The Flash leaves
That knightmare flash suit is so fucking cool, the practical one they made for display looks even better
I noticed that at one point and I wondered why no one spoke about it. Thank you man!
Jesse Eisenberg's Lex is different than the normal iteration we know of Lex, because Jesse is playing Lex Luthor Jr. He said it in the film.
I love how Bruce's parents are negan and Maggie from the walking dead
holy crap i didnt know that pretty cool
It is 2025 and I am just learning this. WTF.
The worst part is we could of had a Flashpoint with those two as Thomas and Martha
Saw this movie on opening night back in 2016. Never left a theater feeling so satisfied, after watching Snyder (one of my favorite directors) continue to develop his mature and really BOLD take on the DC characters. It really was (and still is) one of my favourite superhero movies. The next moorning, grabbed my phone to see how the reception was with other people... and it was heartbreaking to see such a solid film being ripped to pieces. But what disturbed me the most in that was to see people hating on Snyder with such a morbid "passion". Even after his family tragedy during JL's production and all the backstabbing from WB, I had the displeasure of reading comments of haters cheering his daughter death as Snyder wouldn't "continue to ruin DC".
So, to me, it was very sweet watching this reaction from someone disconnected from all that hatred bias. Like I said in the comments of MoS reaction, one would be tempted to hit play on Justice League after BvS, but I believe Wonder Woman (2017) should come before that, as it gives Diana and her story more needed development to properly set up JL.
I fully agree with you! Snyder did a great job with his shortlived DC Universe. Most people just didn't understand his vision for some reason and that caused the studio to decide to screw him over instead of allowing him to continue as he had planned to like they should have. It actually pissed me off seeing people cheering his family tragedy and saying they were glad it happened just because they believed he "ruined" their DC.
LesGOOOO HALO THREEEEEE!
Batfleck as the Batman was genius. He has the physical presence of the comic book hero come to life. Straight from the pages of the comics.
The warehouse scene fighting Luthor's goons was amazing. Ben Affleck has the BEST choreographed fight scene of any live-action Batman film to date. Hands down. This is the Bat we all envision who Batman really is.
I also like the darker take on Batman in this film. 20 years of already fighting crime helped spin him to a more cruel Batman. The death of Superman helped wake him up. Maybe the only reason why he didn't brand Lex Luthor, Jr. -OG
You'll enjoy the Directors Cut of Justice Leaguer when you eventually get to it.on your DC schedule You'll also probably have to split it into 2 or 3 parts because it's about 4+ hours. You'll love Wonder Woman & Aquaman.
The Snyder cut's a bloated meandering mess. The theatrical release was MUCH better.
@@barkingmonkee haha no way you just said that shit
HAVE TO BE TROLLING. OR JUST BRAINDEAD@@barkingmonkee
@@barkingmonkeeit’s much worse on pretty much every aspect, visually the Snyder cut is much much better. The ton is consistent from MOS, the Weddon version is an amalgamation of Marvel jokes and bad color correction
@@barkingmonkee you're kidding, right? The Wedon cut is a pile of absolute garbage.
BvS Luthor is indeed different from the most recent and well known versions. Snyder moreso took inspiration from the original comics where Lex was more of an eccentric mad scientist, and especially from the Birthright comics, featuring a younger and less composed Lex, looking a lot like Eisenberg with his long hair
His Lex also references the current tech tycoons who, unlike the charismatic, suave, and domineering 80s businessmen, are more eccentric, outwardly off-putting but still as ambitious, greedy, and cruel as their 80s forefathers.
@Syryu Absolutely. Casting the guy who played Mark Zuckerberg is not innocent in that regard
Negan & Maggie getting together and giving themselves new identities in the post Zombie civilization was not the back story you expected for Batman.
Lex Luthor in the golden and silver age of comics was a scientist. As a youth he was trapped in a burning building with chemicals and while he was saved by Superboy he still lost his hair. Which is why Lex was portrayed bald and why he hated Superboy/Superman.
In John Byrne's reboot of the Superman saga in the six issue Man of Steel miniseries he portrayed Lex as a corrupt powerful businessman. After being caught doing shady things by Superman he was incarcerated in jail for a few hours until his team of lawyers bailed him out. And it is that petty affront that started the hate train chugging along. He had curly red hair initially but eventually lost his hair as well.
_"As a youth he was trapped in a burning building with chemicals and while he was saved by Superboy he still lost his hair. Which is why Lex was portrayed bald and why he hated Superboy/Superman."_
That's in the "Clark was Superbaby and Superboy before he moved to Metropolis" reality. Lex wasn't bald but a redhead until an artist confused his appearance with the Ultra-Humanite.
I definitely like how chaotic the media is about Super-man. It really makes you question if humanity in general will really accept or deserve Superman as a whole in this film.
45:50 MY honest opinion is for you to continue watching them and form your OWN opinion. Don't listen to anybody else. There will ALWAYS be people out there that say a movie sucks, and there are OTHERS that will say that the SAME movies were phenomenal.
BTW!! Snyder SPECIFICALLY cast Negan and Maggie from Walking Dead as Bruce's parents for his plan for the Flash movie. Unfortunately since the franchise was taken away from him soon after this movie, those plans weren't followed through and we got a much different (and imo, much worse) movie. But yeah there was a HUGE reason for their casting, which I won't spoil. But if you're interested, check out the Flashpoint Paradox animated movie. That's the best explanation you'll get and it's a damn good watch once you're familiar with the characters of the DC universe.
Nothing was taken away. He dropped it after his daughter committed suicide. He still had plans to return but the studio feared failure based on the reception to this and man of steel being less than they expected although still not a failure
@justinwill1163 So what part of "he had plans to return" and the studio not allowing that to take place doesn't constitute being taken away?? Sounds like semantics. He left to mourn with plans to come back and finish his vision. He was pushed out and WB went a completely different direction and scrapped his plan, effectively destroying the DCEU. The Flash, in particular, was the biggest travesty imo, as I previously alluded to. And to add insult to injury, Miller lost his sh¡t while they were taking the better part of a decade to rewrite and dismantle his movie. The perfect storm of a studio getting in their own way...
He probably should have made better creative choices when making these movies then…
We were seriously robbed of a Flashpoint paradox with Jeffrey Dean Morgan's Batman and her Joker
@@parkstar7113 what part of he dropped it did you not get? Lol you get up and leave your chair on a bus and someone else takes the seat you can’t make them give it back lol you gave it up my guy. Snyder left, the studio kept it that way. They were only able to do that because he left. That’s on him at the end of the day
I'll never forgive DC for killing Elasta-Girl in this movie! Disney would never kill her off.
I’ve never seen someone so happy to get a 7/10 split😭
I think most of us agree that Jesse Eisenberg is not the Lex Luthor anyone ever imagined. But we need to remember that this Lex Luthor, Jr. He's not the original Lex we all have come to know. He's definitely crazy. Like the Joker. This is why Batman arranged for him to go to Arkham Asylum. -OG
I like how the *media* (including real ones) is used as another character in a way, determining people’s opinions of both Superman and Batman, just like in our world today.
Batman v Superman dawn of justice was awesome 😎
4:53 The bats lifting Bruce up to the light is a visual metaphor for how Batman saved him from his childhood tragedy and sense of hopelessness and gave him purpose and direction, his salvation. But he says "a beautiful lie", as we see in the movie, after 20 years in Gotham, making no progress, countless people he couldn't save, Robin dead, Metropolis decimated, he's changed for worse, in denial, and unwittingly becoming the very thing he was fighting against.
How ironic is it that both Batman & Superman's mothers have the same first name, that really got me when I first found out about their first names in the comics
I've come around on this movie over time. There is a LOT that's good about it, even though it's never perfect.
The best way I can describe this movie as a highly stylized "superhero opera" is that you can't hypnotize the unwilling. This Batman, for example, is NOT 100% like versions of Batman we've seen before.
If you go into this movie expecting trash, if you're unwilling to be hypnotized, you take one look at say: "This Batman is NOTHING like the Batman we all know. They're complete idiots. They don't understand our favourite character at ALL."
But if you go into this movie expecting something you've never seen before, instead of the same old thing, you say: "This Batman is NOTHING like the Batman we all know. Oh my God, something's REALLY wrong with Batman. Why is he like this?! Who made him this way?"
The answer, once you've chosen to be hypnotized, once you have WILLINGLY promised yourself to look for the good movie, is obvious. This was Lex Luthor from the beginning, based on the one thing we've always known about him: aside from loving real estate (that's another weird obsession that comes back a lot), he's the equivalent of a white supremacist for humanity. He believes that humans are they greatest beings in the universe (They MUST be since he's one!) and the problem with Superman is that not only makes people (i.e. him) look and feel inferior--it's that humanity will *become* inferior thanks to superpowered alien freaks coming to Earth like little gods. He can't accept that Superman is beyond corruption, because if HE had that power, he'd be completely corrupt, and he can't imagine anyone could possibly be any other way.
Not to mix DC and Marvel, but Lex is almost exactly like a reverse Magneto: he's on the side of humanity against any of these weirdos with powers, so completely that he'd rather just kill them all. That's actually the one reason his whole involvement with the "Doomsday" element here just doesn't work for me. The whole POINT of him siccing Batman on Superman is that he needs to see that the most powerful human--the smartest, richest, strongest, deadliest human being--can outmatch the strongest Kryptonian. He needs that validation of humanity. So when his Batman plot fails, and he basically turns to Kryptonian help to fight the Kryptonian (in this version of the story), it just doesn't play well for me because taking that step would mean to himself he's already lost. It would mean that humanity CAN'T defeat the alien superpowers without the help of alien superpowers. So that's the very complicated end of my ability to be hypnotized.
Otherwise, though, so much of this movie works if you want it to--including a lot of the things that absolutely don't work if you want hard enough for them to fail.
Also, I'm not going to get into the whole "Save Martha" thread down below; I don't have that much of an interest in the over-memed slap-fight. But for ME, it's obvious why he didn't just say "save my Mom": one, is he going to explain in the last ten seconds of his life that he means the lady from Kansas who raised him, and not, say, Lara Lor-Van El from planet Krypton who's been dead for decades in another galaxy? Second, and more convincingly for me: if "Martha" is just an innocent hostage, that's one thing. Maybe this human who thinks he's saving humanity by killing Superman might also want to save her. But the whole REASON his Mom's life is in danger in the first place is that a psychologically damaged human billionaire super-scientist who's hellbent on destroying Superman found out that Martha Kent was him Mom. Why, given that exact circumstance, would Superman give that information to ANOTHER psychologically damaged human billionaire super-scientist who's hellbent on destroying him?
The Mommy issue that unites Superman & Batman is now way over-talked about. The other reason I'm willing to suspend disbelief on it is that this has been waiting, WAITING to be used for DECADES. Ma Kent was first called Martha (a variant of Mary) in "More Fun Comics issue #101" (January 1945). Bruce Wayne's mother was first identified as Martha in Detective Comics #33 (November 1939), written by Bill Finger. SO for 71 years, they shared the same name without anybody noticing or using that plot point. The fact that the two series were developed completely separately makes this a true coincidence--one that only seems implausible now because the name is much less common than it was in the 1930s.
What I wish we talked about more in this movie is that there's also a Daddy issue--one uniting the two parallel billionaire human super-geniuses hellbent on destroying Superman. We get a tiny taste of Lex's daddy issues in this film, and what I wish it put more front & center is the idea that Bruce Wayne is really the center of conflict in this film: in many ways, Bruce (who is also the billionaire CEO of a company named after him) is half like Lex, and half like Superman. The real question is which way he's going to fall, which of these figures he's going to choose to become more like. Superman's victory over Lex is ultimately a moral victory: Batman is the prize to be won here, and through selflessness and the good grace of a coincident name (the kind of coincidence Tolkien would call "eucatastrophe"), Superman wins him.
That's an interesting story to me, and I wish they'd done more justice to it (no pun intended). Because the bones of this film are pretty great, whatever flaws it picked up along the way.
36:20 "Maybe he's bald from stress, none of his plans work out" I'm laughing and also thinking that would be a better story than to simply shave head for a new look.
They actually give everyone a buzz cut when you get to prison, except in federal prisons....
Not only is Bruce's father Thomas Wayne played by Negan, Bruce's mother Martha is played by Maggie Rhee - Glenn's wife in TWD.
I still have my black armband (and comic) from when superman died.
3:58 And Bruce Wayne’s mom is Maggie from the Walking Dead!
I didn't know she already watched TWD. She must've seen it off camera long time ago.
@@joshuacampbell7493she said she hasn’t cuz I was on her twitch stream one time and she mentioned she didn’t watch it
Jesse as Lex has more than a few critics. I always thought it would have been more interesting for Lex to openly be a partner with Bruce and Clark and have it revealed to the audience he was the mind and power behind the bad stuff going on as Lois uncovered it.
36:30
Although the backstories are different, this creature is dubbed "Doomsday."
In the comic books, it's a product of mad-science and darwinisn on a deadly unamed planet. It always comes back deadlier than anything that killed it.
And yes, it's iconic for murdering Superman.
Must watch: Zach Snider's Justice League (never watch the theatrical version)! Wonder Woman. Aquaman. Suicide Squad, The Suicide Squad, Peacemaker! I really enjoyed your reaction!
No one liked him as Lex!!
I really like the Lex in this movie. He's contemporary and correctly-written.
Also, in this Batman and Superman movie, it seems intentional that his Lex is Jokerish. He has to fight both superheroes and, though the regular version of Lex (not the out of date one from the Donner and Singer films, but more like the one from Superman and Lois) could fight both superheroes, it doesn't mean that any writer can't try a version that is a bit like both of their arch nemises in one.
Lex's dialogue is quite beautifully-written too as well as his characterisation. The grandson of a Nazi, the survivor of an abuser, without children of his own, becoming his own trauma over the course of the movie (something Batman actively avoids and something that Superman - at least in the vision - embraces) The screenwriters were firing on all cylinders with this one.
I bet you did, mediocre is what makes you common and basic! Goofy AF!
16:10 W edit
The thing about Doomsday is he never stays dead. Every time you kill him he comes back and he's immune to that type of death.
Vkunia: that is why you don’t nuke aliens.
Helldivers: here’s a little democracy
you need to watch, in order: Wonder Woman, Zach Schneider's justice League, Aquaman, Wonder Woman 2, Birds of Prey, The Suicide Squad, Aquaman 2, The Flash. You can skip the first Suicide Squad film if you want, it's a very mediocre movie that you can ignore anyway, it will not affect your understanding of the DCEU
"You shoved him, now he's Bruce'd" 😭
I loved your engagement with the film. Phenomenal, honest and emotional reaction!!! It’s one of my favorite movies of all time
This movie brought me to tears in 2016 when i was 10 it was a true emotional masterpiece
I really like Ben Affleck as Batman/Bruce Wayne too, to me he embodied that Frank Miller ‘Dark Knight Returns’ Batman (side note, you should definitely watch that!) To me, Ben is the only actor to ever look like Bruce Wayne and Batman, I buy him as both, I mean, he even looks just like the animated version!
You have to watch Zack Snyder justice league at some point. There’s other stand alone films you can watch but ZSJL is the one to watch with out a doubt! 👌🏻
There are a bunch of calls to the comics in this movie. If you start watching the DC movies, start with Wonder Woman. I think you'll love it.
“Wonder Woman” a big resounding yes. Zach Snyders “Justice League”, NOT the Joss Whedon directed one. Absolutely NOT “Wonder Woman 1984” ... beyond that ...
Even though a lot of people didn't like it, I think Jesse Eisenberg's performance does a great job at capturing what a brilliant, psychopathic CEO with infinite wealth and severe daddy/god issues might look like. And the way his facade cracks every now and again, usually accompanied by fidgeting or twitching is so unsettling.
After a few years I got over the “Martha” memes and Eisenberg’s being Alex Lex Luthor. I like this film. I remember the first time I saw Batman and Superman team up in their Animated Series crossover. I like seeing the World’s Finest. I wish Warner Bros. planned these films better and didn’t worry about competing with the MCU.
*This is the most brilliant comic book-based original film ever made and Batfleck is Batman straight out the comic book pages.*
Loving the bangs you had during the sponsor, super cute
It is quite impressive when you compare frame by frame the fight in Man of Steel and the point of view of Bruce, there are a couple of vid on YT showing it.
35:25 "NO CAPES!"- Edna Mode.
4:05 you noticed that Bruce's father was Negan from TWD, but you didn't realize his mother Martha was Maggie also from TWD 😂
👍
Wonder Woman is next ... you will love it!
Watching the Justice League animated show got me correcting her like: mothmen nah parademons. Not post apocalyptic but current apocalyptic.
Jessie Eisenberg was A"lex"ander Luthor, he mentions that when we first meet him "My father named the company after himself. He was the Lex in front of the Corp", a lot of people missed that and complained that he wasn't a good Lex...but that's because he wasn't Lex at all.
My favorites are Ben Affleck as Batman, Heath Ledger as Joker, Michael Rosenbaum as Lex Luthor, Grant Gustin as Flash, and Superman is a hard one, but Christopher Reeve because of the Classics.
Can't wait for the rest of DC Universe. Take Care & God Bless.
*Although I feel like Batman and Superman becoming allies after their blowout fight was a little rushed, I do love their interaction when Wonder Woman shows up to help them fight Doomsday.*
*_Wonder Woman: This thing, this creature, seems to feed on energy_*
*_Superman: This thing is from another world....my world._*
*_Wonder Woman: I've killed things from other worlds before.... (Draws her sword)_*
*_Superman (looks at Batman): Is she with you?_*
*_Batman (looks back at Superman quizzically): I thought she was with you._*
*SIDE NOTES:*
*> I think it's clever how Batman used lead dust to hinder Superman's X-Ray vision so he couldn't see the change in position. The first Kryptonite grenade caught the Man Of Steel COMPLETELY off guard.*
*> Wonder Woman is older than anyone in the Justice League and the entire planet. She's between 3,000-5,000+ year old, depending on continuity.*
*> Doomsday has the unfortunate drawback to dying: He can't die the same way twice.*
nothing like some sweet, sweet V wholesomeness after a long shift
Your hair looks absolutely stellar, darlin'. Love the red, love the style, love the length!
The readers of Superman know that he's limitless. However, Superman doesn't know this.
5:46 originally, the guy, jack, was meant to be Lucius Fox but WB wouldn't let Zack add him in. I always keep saying they screwed him over. Plus, when it was originally relased back in the day, they removed over 30 minutes of footage from the movie which was later released on DVDas the Ultimate Edition which you are watching right now. Also, watch Zack Snyder's Justice League after Wonder Woman, which is the definitive version that us fans have been fighting for and have gotten in 2021 all those years ago.
Edit: 19:08 About the Knightmare, that's an actual premonition that Bruce has which is expanded upon in ZSJL and ZSJL II. Superman *_Lost_* Lois lane to Darkseid himself, and the real kicker, Lois was pregnant with Clark's unborn child. This allowed Darkseid to take control of Superman using the Anti-life equation.
So about the other movies:
• Suicide Squad 1: Yes, but the extended version. Not great but introduces many important characters.
• Wonder Woman: Definitely yes!
Justice League 2017: Not really but you may want to give it a try.
Justice League Snyder's Cut: Absolutely, it is the MOST important one.
Aquaman: It's fun
Shazam: It's funny
Birds of Prey: Nah!
Wonder Woman 1984: Nah!
The Suicide Squad: YES, and this one is kind of the start of the new DCU.
Peacemaker (show): Yes, yes, yes.
Black Adam: Maybe...
Shazam! Fury of the Gods: I don't think so.
The Flash: Well, yes, why not?
Blue Beetle: Sure
Aquaman amd the Lost Kingdom: Mmmm no, if you got this far... smh
I accept your list
The last 5 are worth seeing. At least for fun and dc lore.
the whole thing is such a trainwreck... lol
If only WB had decided to take things slowly and build up the universe like Marvel did.
"The Flash: Well, yes, why not?" ... thought the same thing, and immediately turned it off after the opening scene, that movie would have 100% destroyed DC for me for all eternity.
Now remember, this is a reaction channel. Something can be mid but generate reactions. Or it can be just mid. The Flash has stuff to react to. Fury of the Gods, WW84, Lost Kingdom, and Black Adam--just mid (at best). Birds of Prey was joyless imo and I wanted to punch that accent out of her.
people dumped on this movie because they are used to marvel silly joke slop, the movie was refreshing and a realistic take on what would happen if a being like superman was real.
45:23 If you like the grittiness and high contrast then you will LOVE the special edition “Zach Snyder’s Justice League: Justice is Gray”.
Ignore the theatrical release of “Justice League”, “Zach Snyder’s Justice League” isn’t just a director’s cut, it is the movie as it should have been and a much better movie.
The colour version is great, but the special “Justice is Gray” black and white version is spectacular! It wasn’t just a simple “press the grayscale button” conversion. They reworked the colour, contrast, tones and lighting to make it a a unique powerful experience, especially in IMAX!
I hope you get a chance to review it.
The most misunderstood comic movie ever. This is an amazing movie
It was far ahead of its time
I’m glad to see others share this sentiment. We were more blessed than we knew.
@ I love this movie coming out of the theater in 2016 and the three hour version made me love it even more. I didn’t like Batman until I saw this movie.
Its not an awful movie, its not a great movie either. It pretty okay, but this Lex casting just did not do it. And the "Martha" moment...not a huge fan of that.
'amazing' is most certainly not a word i would use, but the common complaints people have are not why it's bad.
8:22 It's not. No other version of Batman, ever, for any reason, ever branded anyone. - It's just one of the many reasons why this version of him is controversial.
He doesn't brand people.
He doesn't use a voice changer.
He doesn't use guns &/or kill indiscriminately.
he does use a voice changer sometimes. There's breakdowns of the way his cowl is set up in the comics in some runs. He will sometimes use a voice changer for added fear factor.
@@justarandomveryintelligent8934 & which comic run(s) is(are) this?
19:58 Very good! 👏👏
Them doing the Doomsday stuff in this movie brought the whole thing down a lot for me.
They should’ve done it in another Superman standalone movie.
From what I understand this was studio interference just like with Spider-Man 3.
So if doomsday doesn’t kill Superman how does the mother boxes wake up so the justice league can come together?
@@tmac731 None of that matters anymore because they ruined the universe going on this course to begin with and now we have absolutely nothing but a James Gunn do over.
4:15 you missed Maggie was his mom lol
Never heard anyone call the Parademons as Mothmen 😂
Jesse’s Lex is based off of young, unhinged Lex from the comics. It was definitely a controversial and unpopular choice. While I totally understand why people don’t like this version of Lex, I think he did a good job considering. The problem was the decision to adapt that version in the first place rather than the performance itself.
She noticed Negan as Batman's dad but not Maggie as his mum! 😆
am i high or did she throw that staff in the water twice? same scene lmfao
This was always building towards the Injustice storyline (like the games) where Superman turns evil.
If you want a really different look at Lex Luthor and Clark Kent watch Smallville. It's not about superman but how Clark and Lex grow up to become who they are. Michael Rosenbaums Lex is one of the best ever
I personally still enjoy the DC movies. There are some that I wish they went in different directions with how the plots play out but I still enjoy them. Would love to see more of the DC reactions.
Love the “bruiser Bruce”
Recognized Negan but not Maggie? Biggest eye roll possible
Awesome reaction vid, I laughed along so much :) you should watch Suicide Squad: Extended Cut, Wonder Woman and Zack Snyder's Justice League they're the 3 sequels, after those the DCEU just went all random and without direction. It's a shame because this story was really incredible, i miss Henry Cavill as Superman 😥
Also... The Lex Luthor character is ultimately just insane. But like Bruce Wayne, he eventually has to put on a facade yo appear less insane.
Clark is killed the same way as his father, Zoe kills jor el stabbing him with his blade, doomsday(Zod) kills kal the same way
26:40 That’s Chris Pine!
MARTA!! man ima miss Henry cavill they did him dirty as superman and the witcher
When’s the Sonic 3 And Cars 3 reaction coming? And if u haven’t seen it before, can u plz do Finding Nemo
This movie is based on two comics The Death Of Superman and The Dark Knight Returns (by Frank Miller) aka Batman Vs Superman. Frank Miller has written alot of Graphic Novels that were turned into movies. Movies like Sin City 1 and 2, 300.
An underrated movie IMO. I've only ever seen the Ultimate Edition; I've heard the theatrical release left out some key details. Jesse Eisenberg made some interesting choices playing Lex Luthor, but is menacing at times.
This is why Cavill's fanbase is so furious over the recasting, he was only ever given one pure superman movie. Everything else was shared screentime.
I blame Snyder for wasting his potential and trying to turn him into Homelander.
@@lazuruswolf6668Blame WB, Snyder did a great job but the studio decided to screw him over for some reason.
@@passionsquietrage funny, I remember people hating Cavill’s version of Superman when MoS and BvS came out. Primarily how Snyder turned him into a dark and edgy character with no personality.
Snyder was the one who tried to rewrite Superman into Homelander, blame him for wasting his potential.
@lazuruswolf6668 What's wrong with Superman showing some humanity and questioning his purpose? If I recall, he would become the hero we all know him to be over the course of the cinematic universe. However, people wanted him to be that hero immediately instead of being patient enough to let him evolve into it. That's why they hated him, not because of any "wasted potential".
@@passionsquietrage It wasnt that we didnt get to see him be that hero right up, its that snyder went out of his way to make him nothing like that character. He did all right with man of steel but when he did BvS all he did was turn Superman into a depressed emo who barely showed emotions.
Take a look at the batman, thats how you do a grounded rookie hero. Reeves showed his batman with emotions while still showing that he has a lot to learn to become the true caped crusader. He also managed to keep batman who is in his core.
Snyder didnt do that with Superman, the fact he killed him off in his second appereance was dumb. If he bothered to make a man of steel 2 BEFORE his death maybe it would of been better recieved. But no, he just wanted an excuse to make his Batman movie.
Fun fact: Zack Snyder did want to do a couple more movies to lead into this one, but Warner Bros. were envious of the success of MCU so forced him to rush into a team up as the first sequel, thus why this feels like a bunch of movies crammed into one, since it is two or three movies in one.
34:20 Worlds Finest begins 😀😀
Thank you for this reaction, this movie seems like a masterpiece to me although I didn't like Lex Luthor either, I hope you react to the entire DCU, I look forward to the reactions to:

LETS GOOOOO 💪😎💪
Hey V.❤ There were two versions of Justice League. So watch the 2nd one. Which would be Zack Snyder’s cut as someone said.
10:40 I think Clancy Brown was very charismatic/iconic as Lex Luthor in the cartoons and some of the animated movies. I think most people would agree with you about Jesse Eisenberg.
Nah the editor is goated 16:10
To try and summarize things you asked about:
There are many versions of all these characters from over the decades in various comics but the DC universe version of these characters are unfortunately a rushed combination of many versions.
The version of batman Ben is playing is an older version, seasoned, but also a bit jaded in regards to hope and redemption after his many battles with his own villains like Joker. This is also a version that is post the several iterations of Robin that he helped essentially raise. This is why his combat style is more brutal and is more interested in ending Superman as a concept because like Lex in a way didn't believe someone with that much power could ever stay altruistic. That's something on a God could do, kind of thing.
It wasn't until he begged for his mother's life and sacrificed himself during the final fight did he start to believe enough to see the positive effect Superman had on the world. It kind of reset him into a more comic book accurate version of Batman that was willing to be harsh in battle, but started to believe that Superman's child like optimism of never giving up on someone was needed if humanity would ever be capable of evolving beyond our typical selves.
Which is also why it was controversial that this studio went with a version of Superman that killed Zod, something he and Batman always vowed never to do no matter the stakes because once you justified killing on villain you open the door for more and more.
This one movie rushed the arcs of the starting the Justice League, the arc of Batman and Superman fighting like in Avenger's Civil War, and the introduction of Doomsday. It also set up the cliff hanger with the teaser of DC's version of Thanos which is Darkseid. This ultimate villain of their universe is a universal threat looking for something he calls the " anti-life equation " which is its own can of worms conceptually.
