The bass is so brutal, it's fucking amazing.
Weird that you posted ten minutes before now. I don't think the base sounds like Citizen Erased.
Aeterna Umbra
I think you replied to the wrong comment... :)
No, I was replying to another reply under this comment. They deleted their reply afterwards.
Aeterna Umbra Oh, that's why. :)
Leonardo Gutierrez
That's fine, it just caused a tiny bit of confusion, nothing more.
This song isn't appreciated enough
its one of my favorits, i agree
Agreed! It's pretty hard to find this one
not enough at all! The older Muse songs are much more better
I am so excited for the new album tho
How the fck did I just hear this. It's great amazing. New matt plus old crazy matt lol
Shame om youuu (sss) for thinking (breathes) you're all aloooon (wtsdrlbsh) if you want I'll make you wish you were...
*alone
Sounds like me slurping spaghetti
Listened to Thought Contagion right before this. Hard to believe its the same band. I love Muse and there experimentation.
their
Thought contagion is cool imo. But this doesn't means other songs aren't. I dunno how many songs of Muse I listened yet but every one of them is so fkin good
Thought Contagion can get yeeted into hell for all I care. Although, the rest of simulation theory is good, excluding something human, get up and fight and dig down. Aish, I suppose your favourite band can't always produce music you love 😭😭😭
I've just done the same🤘😎
@@fee6792 The acoustic version of something human is good though
Most underrated song by Muse.
FALLOUTBIOCREED Without a doubt.
Eh? This is a fan favourite. Not overrated at all. This is in most Muse fans' top ten. I'd say The Small Print is their most underrated; most fans think it's the worst on Absolution and hate it because it won over Fury's spot.
+Greg Bowler lol
@@alexhodgkinson6718 the small print is in my top 10 :P
Yes! And it must be added - this song was adored by audience from the first concert, at which Muse played it. Absolutely not underrated, but after the day it was about (9/11) the song simply just a little faded out and sank over new albums, imo.
when matt said "CHKABSHHK" i really felt that
blaine 😂
Beat Box. . .
Shish kebab?
I kinda felt it too not gonna lie.
lol
1:47 OOOOWNNNNACHHCKABSSSSHTH
But srsly tho I love this song.
i hear the word OCTOPUS LOL 😂
I always thought he said "thatsabullshit" :D
thats complete bullshit
+Raph Prospere I honestly can't hear bullshit, whenever I listen to this song I pronounce out loud octopus pkshbrraaah lol it makes me laugh
+into_ perspective idk what is said but it would kinda make sense in context although something about an octopus would be pretty awesome
Wow Slavic version of Matt
nu metal version of matt
Glad the new song has brought Metal Muse back, but can’t forget this classic!
hell yeah
2 completely different sounds and not even in the same genre from what I can tell, the new stuff is more like Korn
@@fatbroccoli8 Well yeah other than being Metal influenced they do have different vibes I’d say this song (Dead Star) is Alternative metal, while the new song is a little harder to classify: it’s got prominent nu metal elements, but also reggae-dubstep verses and some of their classic space rock elements in the chorus, so yeah they’re different sub genres, but both are good examples of Muse’s heavier side
truly spoken!
Won't stand down is heavy!! They can and have done almost every rock style and absolutely smashed it. E.g. liquid state - is like foo fighter style at its best
Why is it that "Dead Star" is actually way heavier than "Supermassive Black Hole"? You would thing a Supermassive black hole would be...I dunno...more explosive?
Ahh you see a black hole destroys everything yes, BUT a dead star explodes literally
*booom* mind just exploded. Seriously though, thank you for the clarification because that was confusing me. xD
My brain hurts now...
Molly May But... a black hole _implodes_
hmmmm
Is it just me or are their b sides better than their album tracks? I mean fury, futurism, eternally missed, in your world, dead star... Their b sides are so damn good.
+Jeff Jeffe Futurism and In your world are two of my favorite songs. Futurism's bass line is fucking insane and very fun to play.
+Jeff Jeffe you forgot Host and Spiral Static
+Jeff Jeffe Shrinking Universe, Glorious, Shine, Yes Please, Agitated, The Groove, the list continues
+A Band Called Muse to continue and get all of them, soaked, easily, glorious, shrinking Universe, dead star, in your world, futurism, fury, crying shame, spiral static, the groove, yes please, shine, eternally missed, there are more but those aren't as memorable to me.
+Jeff Jeffe Futurism was an early incarnation that went on to become Hysteria
They should bring this back to rotation now with Won't Stand Down
Also the small print
@@mardofsz2847 and Stockholm syndrome
@@chadhenry961 *THIS* is Dead Star 😂
@@mattiamarchese6316 I thought this was on the Stockholm syndrome video I had both open at the same time
Shame on you for thinking
You're an exception
We're all to blame
Crashing down to earth
Wasting and burning out
Fading like a dead star
Harm is coming your way
It's coming your way
And you used to be everything to me
And now you're tired of fighting
Tired of fighting
Fighting yourself
Shame on you for thinking
You're all alone
If you want I'll make you wish you were
Failing to impress
Why can't you sleep with
Someone who'll protect you?
Harm is coming your way
It's coming your way
And you used to be everything to me
And now you're tired of fighting
Tired of fighting
Fighting yourself
You're all alone, That's a kaboust*
Actually it's "One" and not Harm (the One designating the Dead Star I guess)
Matt's abnormal noises during the verses seem like he's eating spaghetti while singing
PFTZ SHUZ CHA WHAZ
He loves pasta so that adds up.
My favorite band in the entire world how the hell haven't I heard this masterpiece wtf
Molly May because a lot of people got pulled into the band by Twilight and thus don't know what Muse's "good years" were lol
Dan Aronov They've ALWAYS been good. These are their "great years", which for me is OoS to BHAR.
+PsychicHorse Dude, you're forgetting Showbiz
Showbiz is the best album in my opinion (along with OoS). BHAR is up there, but it's not on of my favorites. Though I would say BHAR is the album that represents the style and lyrical content of Muse. If someone asked me who Muse was I would PROBABLY show them a mix between BHAR and OoS
YYYASSSSSSS thank u!!
Anyone else think that the "tch tch tch tch" sound he makes at 1:37 and again at 2:00 is freaking awesome.
This song really latches on to a memory or two, and nails the feelings of the time.
Yeah I love that and the weird breathing at 0:42
Yes a simulation of hi-hats
Hell yeah!!
Origin of Symmetry and Absolution mixed together. Anyone else agree?
Saqib Shabir yeah
Saqib Shabir moi
Yep
Hard to disagree :D They literally create this song between OoS and Absolution ;)
Closer to Absolution imo
Can you imagine what muse would be today if they’d pursued this route of music? Crazy to think about how they’ve grown/used their musical diversity. And I love it all!
well there you go
Yes i can imagine. They will be perfect. For me better than the Beatles. ( no offense, i love them so much and i love their actual music but this ! This is really better than "compliance" which sounds like joke.
@@astraldistortionsI couldn't agree with you more, I absolutely loath Compliance! I was at the MK Bowl last week to see them live and the moment Compliance came on I went to the bar. Me and mate were saying imagine if the next album was nothing but metal and I want/miss something that probably will never happen.
@@astraldistortionscompliance is a fucking joke dude 😭😭😭
I feel it would be boring if they keep making OOS type of album for their entire career. So many gems I love when they play out of their comfort zone. The diversity in their catalogue make me stay to listen to them.
these guys are gonna be big someday
tf
+MrNinjaPuncake he must not know...
Tf
+NewbGaming I was just joking. I have everything they've put out. lol
Just Now..😍
Muse are on their way out, they've had their glory days; 2001-2004
This song is like the bridge between Origin of Symmetry and Absolution
Fuck me that was intense
Captainwigglemuncher My thoughts exactly
Oh god, I get goose bumps every time I listen to this, it's the chorus and the bass that gets me!
I get goose bumps when i listen to every muse song.
Most of the time I prefer B side Muse. I love the old stuff, I still am not sure why people dislike the new stuff, I love the 2nd law myself.
Yeah honestly same here, their sound is still muse
emma Theresa When you watch the making of the 2nd Law album your realise while it doesn't sound like anything Muse had done before it is clearly them. It is their sound, just expressed differently.
Changed your mind yet? Simulation theory wasn't that good :/
they need to make an album of all the b sides and obscure songs that are so great....I demand it!!!!!
Hullabaloo...
On Amazon you'll find b-sides and rarities
Origin of Muse
I said myself the same thing
For a band this big, a song this great should not be as under the radar as it is.
Oh yeah, they "totally" sound like radiohead
I'm a creeeeeeep tsstsstststsss i'm a werdoooo sssshsghgshhss SHHHQHFJZQFGJZGFVN?HJVFJHEFHJ (what the hell s s s ss s s am i doing s s s s here) QGF EJGH?J (screams: I DON'T BELOOOOONG HEEEEERE) *extreme solo guitar*
yep.
Radiohead became much more chill and experimental. Even their early rock albums were alternative and not too loud.
Muse has always kept up their volume and even when they changed things up, especially in The 2nd Law, they still were absolute rockstars.
So yes, while there are some similarities, Muse and Radiohead aren't as comparable as people tend to think.
olivia pottier Te la batimamaste JAJAJAJAJAJAJA
Sorry, you killed it... Forgot in which space I'm talking :v
I think people compare them because they (Matt and Thom) have very eccentric and similar voices. Long sustained notes, Octave changes. Otherwise in terms of skill Muses Guitar Bass and Drums are better and show more instrumental versatility.
Nabil Bsat Muse more instrumentental versatility than Radiohead? Wtf, have you ever listened to Radiohead? Try Bloom, for example ua-cam.com/video/D2084nQbmvk/v-deo.html
Man, muse have so many styles, and I apreciate every one of them, bu f2f their darker stuff will always be held dear in mt heart.
Who else coming to listen to this after WSD dropped? Closest song imo.
Yeah! Thought the same when heard WSD
Hysteria pretty close too
why does this song only have 1 million views? Musers, GET YOUR SHIT TOGETHER!
Had no clue this song existed, holy hell was I missing out.
Twisted Dead same
I'm honestly amazed that this wasn't more popular, and not on a regular studio album it's so freaking good!!
It was a single…
They should re-record this song using current recording rooms and put in on their new album coming out in 2015. Muse said they were gonna go back to this raw sound so what better way than to officially release this is epic song?? Like if you agree
MthrfknBrkdwN in an interview a few months after the release of the second law Matt said they'd record the old style rock they used to do but see what kind of music was out in the industry first, hope this helped :)
+Jacklol I think that's because they hadn't recorded this version yet. I'm glad they worked it out this way for the recording!
What do you mean "officially release"? This IS an official release. Re-recording it and putting it on a new album would be idiotic.
Norce555 he means album release I guess, but not a b-side album or single.
And nowadays they pop songs like Dig Down. It's a shame... -_-
I swear like 20,000 of these views are mine alone.
+Alouxator then you come about 900k short..
50000 are mine
and mine lol
We're all to blame!
and mine
This is a true Muse fan's favorite live song. I wish they would play it more live...
2:02 “Why can’t you sleep with someone who protects you.” Damn that just got all too real...
Gotta love that bass. I already play bass, but because of Chris, I'm now teaching myself to play with my fingers instead of a pick.
+lorenna thompson As a guitar player, learning to play bass with your fingers is fun. :)
Its great to learn both, and use them for correspondingly fitting songs
Rofl only kids and idiots play with pick. Wtf
@@jackityyax4023Guitar is the worst! You need calluses, unless you have a classical guitar. For me, I elected the pick. More practice time!
It's a great song, but it's a shame this song isn't as popular as the other songs and in my opinion this is the most underrated Muse song
So many underrated Muse's songs... All the B-SidesTrack are better than each songs on the newers albums... Coma, Futurism, Dead Star, Balloonatic, Fury... It's a complete waste knowing real fans of Muse loving the old Muse will never know these awesome songs... An official compilation would be the top... And that would also be their best albums... Instead, take a look at "Do We Need This : B-Sides & Rarities"
Listen to Execution Commentary, then look me in the eye and say this again.
Still better than The Resistance and the 2d Law ^^
The 2nd law wasn't that bad and neither was the resistance. Not my faves but they aren't that bad. And execution Commentary was meant to be stupid
Define "real fan" because to ME a real fan would not bitch about new songs not being as good as the old ones, trust me, I do believe that the early albums are better than the newer ones, but those albums are not "bad" they are not as good as their earlier albums. Now, I DO understand why some musers don't like the newer albums, it's because humans hate change, look at green day people love the punk rock, but they hate how they have departed on what got them hooked on to green day. Same with muse, people feel in love with the guitar and bass from 99-06 then they tried to experiment, and try and find a larger fan base, so muse departed from the sound you love. If anything, however you are not a "real fan" because how much people like you complain about something you can't change, and even if they did, it wouldn't have the same emotion. For example, my friend (whom is a punk rocker) wanted me to write lyrics to a punk song, but due to my political stance, I couldn't do it, it would not..
Be as good as me writing about how furries are treated in modern society, because I'm a furry, and so it makes me mad how close minded people are. The reason you don't like "new muse" is the same reason I love some if it, the verity of sounds, and of course, some did not work (big freeze, I belong to you, psycho, ECT.), but some worked well (panic station, the second law (both of them), exogenisis symphony (1-3), ECT)
It is important for musicians to find out sounds THEY like, not what the FANS like. In conclusion: I think that you should stop beating a dead horse, you have seen how muse has listened (barely at all) to your complaining, so just STOP SUPPORTING THE BAND. Just because you stop supporting a band doesn't mean you have to stop liking their music, you just don't like were the band is going, and even though it is IMO the worst way to stop supporting a band, but it's better then having to put up with bitching and complaining
This song means so much to me looking back on it. These three men have changed my life so much, more than anyone else I've ever known. I owe them all so much ❤️ So glad to see you all on 17.04.16 (Dom waved at me, it was magical) I love you all!
daaang I dreamed tonight that he waved me awweeesome!!
Saw them on the 3rd of April in London. The crowd was pretty shit where I was. Matt pointed and smiled at me.

yoooo I’m watching this video 7 years later and found my own comment?? I’ve seen muse three times live now 😎
I love Jimi Hendrix, The Doors, The Who, Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, Queen, ACDC, Van Halen, Rush, Guns N Roses, Metallica, Megadeth, Nirvana, Soundgarden, Pearl Jam, Stone Temple Pilots, Radiohead
but still, there is something that MUSE and only MUSE has; it keeps making me come back for more. All the other bands have great songs but Muse has songs, that no matter the mood I am in, suit me. I just can't get enough of this AWESOME band. I in the name of all the Musers out there say, CHEERS!! XD
MUSE, Queen & Led Zeppelin are in my Top 20 Greatest bands.
Muse is near at the top.
Please release an official b-side compilation guys... I want this
It's called Hullabaloo Soundtrack...
that only has the live versions, and it only has b-sides from Showbiz and Origin of Symmetry

Muse never cease to amaze."Varied" with regard to their particular "Genre" would be an understatement.I don't think there are many other bands that have gone from such extremes of one to another, and remained enjoyable! Many pick a niche and rigidly adhere to it with only minor deviations here and there.
Agree. Not many can be so diverse in their musical endevour and yet still be successful.
The only one that I can think of is Queen.
0:42 those breathing sounds he does are fucking awesome on this

Holy F*** where have I been, this is immense , can't stop listening to it......
When my girlfreind once betrayed me, i locked myself up in my basement, with this song on repeat. I started a cathartic 3-hour-rage-session, i threw my fists against the wall till my knuckles started to bleed and chain-smoked cigarettes till i puked.... After that all pain was washed away and i felt like a new man. I had to laugh aloud about how pretentious i am and since that day i never felt any jealousy anymore... Thank you, Muse!!

ThePunkPhantom most modern "metal" bands have just turned to trying to sound epic with the chorus being about 80% of the song :/
True. These days, bands use settings to sound heavy. Really heavy songs don't need that shit.

The band were playing in Manhattan US in 2001, they left NY to Boston night before 9.11, Matt wrote this along with 'in your world' straight after. This was shot in basement of country house in France with cheap camcorder, I f - in love it!

Another masterpiece,for me....and much underrated!! 💪👏😁
I love the strong Deftones influence in this one. Muse is a lovechild of Radiohead, Queen, and Deftones.
I can't believe I didn't discover this version until recently! This version is so much better than the live version!!
Lead riff kinda reminds me of Demiurge from Meshuggah
I think their next album should have music like this, hard rock kinda style. That would be awesome.
Can you please go back to this ? I miss this muse
They still have a similar style. They have been a band for almost 20 years now and are aloud to experience new styles. Personally I love every song by Muse from Fury to Panic Station.
Sara Bellamy speak the truth:)
Only way to describe Muse back then was wild and messy. It's fun to witness how they've grown while still keeping their authenticity
