I get pissed as a pedestrian when cars stop in the crosswalk. They’re so entitled to the environment and get SO angry at you if you let them know that they are taking your space
This is why there needs to be either a median or posts separating the bike lane from the car lanes, or else people who aren’t paying attention will drift into the bike lane.
I’m so lucky to live in Vienna. People really respect the bike lane here. Sometimes we have a full lane only for bus/taxi/bicycle and at times there’s only me cycling, no busses or taxis and you won’t see a single car on that lane. And even in car shared lanes the cars are patient and don’t overtake if it’s not safe to do so, and with one signal to the left, the cars stop passing you until you make your left turn. We are not Amsterdam but for a City, that’s well done. 🇦🇹🙌
Hi. 50+ year nyorker. This is a GREAT idea for a channel! It's got mystery (what's gonna happen next? ANYTHING!), and it's street level, which we all are at some point in our lives. Very relateable. Good luck!
I'm a biker in a heavy traffic city too. I hate the fact that most bicycles don't follow traffic rules and then complain that cars don't respect them. Is it any wonder that people on bikes get killed by cars when they drive through any red lights 👎
@Propelbikes Love the content Chris, keep it up! On a related note, We're trying to buy an urban Arrow and a Gazelle to get the fam on bikes for the summer, I asked Basheir if there are any savings available on a two-bike acquisition and he said he's gotta check with the higher-ups. But it's been days haha! we're so stoked to pull the trigger, so please sir ping Basheir and let him know if we can be blessed with a discount or not lol. We love what you guys are doing; your whole team has been great to us. Can't wait to get on the bikes, deal or not.
What if there was a system where you can report such infractions with video evidence to the city. The perpetrator gets a fine. The city gets a piece of it, and so does the person who submits the video. Then overtime that money can be used to build bicycling infrastructure to address the problem.
NYC can be such a fantastic bike friendly city with raised bike lanes that’re wide and on both sides of the street with Dutch style intersections, priority for bikes at signals and at some sections completely remove signals by making the sidewalk raised and continuous thus forcing car drivers to yield to bikes and pedestrians.
The truck's too big so they ride too far to the left to avoid scraping the parked cars. they do that here, too. Cars don't stop for red lights, why should bikes?

That happens not only because of infrastructute, but mainly because of the terrible level of the drivers. To get a driving license in north America is like driving forward and congratulations you have won your driving license!
It is legal now in all of Colorado to go through red lights and stop signs. Law requires you just slow down and be careful. For real. aft sensible legislation
Cyclists probably wouldn't get so much flack if more of them were actually safety-considerate, especially at intersections. I remember as kids, we were taught to stop at intersections, get off your bike, then walk your bike across. Now, nobody even bothers to stop or check whether it's safe to ride across.
To be fair bicycles should be allowed to treat stop signs as yields and stop lights as stop signs. Besides there are too many stop signs and traffic lights in this country.
That's ridiculous. Unless car drivers have to get out and push their car across intersections, there is no reason we should do this. Stop at red lights and always check it's safe, of course, but you'd never get anywhere in a city if you got off and walked at every intersection.
Come to the netherlands! You'll see happy kids on bikes everywhere! Elderly people glad they can take a bike ride though a park or though an agrarian area and adults happily on their way to a party or shopping centre
It must be a great life: just claim a rule isn’t safe to follow, and then ignore it! Also, have the required cognitive dissonance to ignore the fact that road safety is primarily achieved by the predictability created when all road users follow the same rules.
@@phishENchimps exactly. This was a clear violation, but sometimes it is bad design that leads to reasonable people breaking the rules. Unfortunately these bad designs can also result in death. The problem is not always with the victims and particularly in the US the underlying issue actually stems from bad guidance in the "motorvehicle book."
From what I've observed, there are law abiding motorists and there are law abiding cyclists. There are also scofflaw motorists and scofflaw cyclists. Making broad generalizations to justify "hating" a demographic is not productive or honest.
oh please, car drivers would run all lights and violate all traffic lights if they could. the only thing stopping car drivers from ramming cyclists and pedestrians and going 100mph all the time is cameras and tickets lol. and even then, a lot of car drivers still drive recklessly.
incredible how calm you are while a car just takes your bike lane. I wish I had some of your inner peace ❤

Subs should just be completely banned. Best solution
And the bikers should be given red light violations for running the red.

Studies show it's safer if bikes are allowed to treat red lights as yields, and that's already the law in several states.

Just another day in Cray Town. If some out-of-towny know-nothing decides to crowd out the left bike lane just make another to their right.
That's why bike lanes need to be _curbed._ Painted lines and plastic stanchions and bollards don't cut it.
