That’s not a Springfield frame. It’s a cartouche - I think final ordnance inspection. Above the P (stamped near the mag release button) there should be a three letter stamp. This is the initials of the inspector in the factory. These letters can identify the maker of your frame. As well as googling the serial number from the RH side of the gun. Cheers. From New Zealand!
You have a Remington Rand slide & Remington Rand frame. The stamp under the slide release is FJA, the cross cannon stamp on the RH side behind the grips is the an ordinance acceptance stamp.
I got a 44 Remington Rand back in round 2. I just got contacted with my RGN for round 4 today. I'm glad they offer 2 per lifetime now. There will most likely be a 5th round.
When I first heard 1911's would be offered by the CMP, I began to line up the ducks to order one. I was a member of the Garand Collectors CMP affiliated club. etc. While waiting to see if I was in the draw, I had the honor to acquire an original Ithica. Manufactured in 1945 and carried by Capt. William "Bill" Roberts who flew a B-26. I met Bill just before he passed in 2019. I am fortunate to own this 1911, and shoulder holster.
I'm waiting for my second from CMP. First one is a service grade 1943 Remington Rand with a G.I. slide ( from Colt National Match Hard slide contract). "MR" over strike on the Army Odrnance crossed canons is Mount Rainier Arsenal and is the only arsenaling indicators. All the roll marks and provenance indicators are legible. Very hapot with it. Can't wait to see what I get this time.
Got mine a few weeks ago. It's a matching 1944 remington rand. The crosses cannons is an inspection mark, but yeah it looks like a springfield logo. BTW round 3 is now closed for orders. So congrats on getting yours in time.
Applied again round 4 for second 1911, choosing a Field grade if available. Received a colt/colt 1942 service grade when asked last time during round 2.

Picked mine up from the ffl yesterday! 1945 remington rand frame with a GI replacement colt slide! Absolute amazing piece of history.
Contract slide ,number code denotes manufacturer.
Nice! Hebe’s Guns and Gear has a good review on a CMP 1911A1 Field Grade that was on an LST in WWII.
The CMP is one of the most underrated Government programs ever devised.
Because it's so fking complicated
@@ericdiekmann2308 it's not complicated you just have a reading comprehension and skill issue.
@@ericdiekmann2308 It's a simple process.
@@ericdiekmann2308You must think making Kraft Mac and Cheese is complicated too

Fine workhorse.enjoy
Finest pieces and relics ,auction bound, prime dollars.
It's just the armory stamp my friend
Sure would like to have one but what a maze of administrative stipulations to go through. Just this old Marine's thoughts.
❤❤❤
If it's really from WW 2 arsenal, I wouldn't shoot it too much if I were you. The metal might start cracking up due to the age.....
Dillan Fall
Probably the 1st gun the CMP has offered I'll pass on. Bring on the M9s
You'll be waiting about 80 years for M9's.
