Hey glad the video was helpful for you. To be honest, I put the SIM card in after all the time mainly because I always forget to switch it. Apples community support setup instructions do mention putting the SIM in before the transfer though.

Thanks. When you say mobile services do you mean the SIM card? If so, Apple has it listed to be inserted first but I have done it first, after, removed it while the phone was on and never has an issue.

Phone to phone is easiest and basically just transfers everything. It's been around a bit, I use that method pretty much every iPhone I get now. Thanks for the comment!

If you have them saved on iCloud and you have photos on in your iCloud settings they will be connected to any device you sign in with your iCloud account.

We did everything you said and got to final step - but it always says New iPhone not activated and says turn off find my iPhone on the old phone. But it is turned off. Hmm it’s odd, seems like for whatever reason it thinks the iPhones Find my is on. Either it’s glitching or there is something up with the setting actually being on. You might want to contact Apple or Verizon. It could be something simple but without seeing the whole process it’s hard for me to know.

You would need to connect to a more consistent wifi I think but if you can’t, you can always go to apple for help transferring. If you have a lot of data transferring it can be frustrating with issues like this. Very hard to diagnose.

You can and would most likely need them on if they are sun glasses, but you can add multiple faces in the passcode and Face ID settings later. So do one with glasses and one without.
So if you set up manually can you still use your iCloud and setup your new iPhone with a new number by going to any carrier and getting a new SIM card and activating the new phone
How do I manually load my 200 or so phone numbers manually. (My old phone is lost). Obviously one by one and it will take time,, but your advice would be appreciated. I am a retired engineer.
It’s most likely done as a new phone but if you open settings right at the top you should see an option to complete the setup with Apple ID iCloud etc…

Sorry about your mom. Any transfer you do from iPhone to iPhone would transfer all the data unless you manually send pictures and files. There are ways to send the photos manually phone to phone with airdrop, messages, or things like Google drive. You can also send the pictures to a computer. As for the rest of the data like messages, voicemails notes it’s more difficult and you would have to search up how for each. It’s hard to advise the best method but if it were me, I’d back everything up to a computer, send all the photos to the computer as well and then keep everything on her phone. If ever the phone breaks a new iPhone could be used to run the backups.

Once the data is transferred, double check that the new phone has everything, check your iCloud settings and if all is good you should be fine to clear the old phone.

There are many ways to do it but it all depends on how you have your stuff saved. The best way is to just follow the on screen instructions and it has an option to transfer from old iPhone.

You could reset the iPhone in the settings and then go through the setup again. Keep in mind if you are transferring from an old iPhone you will need that old iPhone with all the content still.
Hi Trying to sync my Iphone 6s to my new 13 Pro Max but when it got to the end it said transfer cancelled and to set up iphone to its original factory settings on the 13 Pro Max screen.🤔🤔 I was scared of doing it and erasing the older iphone data that is linked at this point 🤔 Also another question, I wanted the iphone to stay in the english language even though I live in Brazil. Not sure if the region your iPhone is in prevents the languages but there are settings in the settings app to change it after setup. Also if the 6s is not saying it will erase, check to make sure all the data is still there and contact Apple for info on why it keeps failing to transfer.

Apple suggests before but I have done it after many times without issue. Go with apple’s recommendation though to be safe.

I chosed "Don't transfer Apps & Data" and after set up was complete, all my photos from my previous iPhone were also on the new one. Why?
If you have them saved on iCloud and you have photos on in your iCloud settings they will be connected to any device you sign in with your iCloud account.

When you say disconnected what do you mean?

It’s sent to the email you created the Apple ID for. If you got the phone off someone else it may be going to their email.

Yeah it should be fine the carriers only control the network. If you pull the sim card out the phones storage and contents are still there.

During the setup you connect to your wifi network.

iPhone 6 is different as is used a much older version of iOS. You would have to find a video showing how to do this with iOS 12

It should, transfer it and then on the new phone just go through everything to ensure it transfers. It doesn’t delete what’s on the old phone.

You could reset the iPhone in the settings and then go through the setup again. Keep in mind if you are transferring from an old iPhone you will need that old iPhone with all the content still.

Only if your iCloud is on and you had those options backing them up in the past.
If we connect it with our old IPhone then if we sell the old IPhone will my new IPhone work?
Yes but you need to properly remove your data from the old phone first,
Hi Trying to sync my Iphone 6s to my new 13 Pro Max but when it got to the end it said transfer cancelled and to set up iphone to its original factory settings on the 13 Pro Max screen.🤔🤔 I was scared of doing it and erasing the older iphone data that is linked at this point 🤔 Also another question, I wanted the iphone to stay in the english language even though I live in Brazil. But I chose English and when asked Country I chose Brazil and the phone is in Portuguese 🤔 even though i chose the English language

Not sure if the region your iPhone is in prevents the languages but there are settings in the settings app to change it after setup. Also if the 6s is not saying it will erase, check to make sure all the data is still there and contact Apple for info on why it keeps failing to transfer.
Any feedback from anyone, i’m grateful and my apologies for ignorance..I have a 6sPlus, 13 pro max on the way; i’m intending to keep same # new carrier; i want to treat new phone as first ever, so I know I’ll have to input contacts, notes, and I’ll have to create a new Apple account, and I don’t want gmail on new phone, but will use Google search engine; I guess the questions: will my 6sPlus still function in a wifi enviro with no cell# attached? Will it retain its txt msgs on its hard drive?
As long as you don’t delete anything it should function the same way just without cellular. You can connect to wifi and access things just the same

I have been given a new 5G SIM card.
At which point in this whole process do I insert and register my 5G sim into the 13 pro max?

Thanks glad it was useful. I put the SIM card in anytime but Apples support page says to put it in first before you run the setup
