Not like this mattered at all, but you actually had the win on the first game when the 2 rolled. If you ported your wheat for an extra brick, you actually could have built longest road with 3 roads, which is kinda hilarious given you were OWS all game😂 and you won with road anyway which was really funny

7:45 I have had this exact thing happen to me before as well, lol! I had a guy say I was crazy lucky to have him blocked the entire game... Even though I had 13 knights in total while he had just 1! Just like you holding 4 knights in your hand, I had to just start using them before the game was over :P

Haha me too. Literally every opponent complains about his time. However I think him taking a long time on his turns is good for the viewing experience.
In game one taking the 5 8 10 I would point right just cuz you always need settle spots for OWS can’t risk getting plowed out of 2 spots
still gets plowed.

Person in the first game feeling unlucky about being blocked all game by a player playing full OWS in 1v1 is so crazy. People finding any way to feel hard done by.
In game one, I where red has to place first settlement. Just take 10/9/5 yourself for high ore production or start 6/5/10 to denie very high production settlement spots and have a more balanced starting production. Or maybe something else?
Respect to wheatreaper for fighting on like a Trojan. I'm thinking of trying online Catan after years of tabletop. My skills come from being bullied by drunken verbally abusive friends, while being undermined by my evil, manipulative, treacherous son. What skills would you suggest are a good basis for a successful online experience?
The best thing to do is start playing. Any online game is going to have toxic players so get ready for some insults. Other than that, just remember that "no wheat = defeat"

For context, I am 1782 1v1 with 65.1% WR over 63 games. The following tips are all for 1 vs 1 Catan:
1. Remember what the resources are actually used for
You can go for a "road game" (brick + wood) with settlements but you also need ore for cities (and development cards, preferably.) Getting lots of sheep without a 2:1 sheep - or a 3:1 anything - port is quite useless.
2. Wood and brick ALWAYS go together
So, an 8 wood with a 3 brick is not very good (unless there is a port for the wood or something like this). Also, just a wood or brick without the other is bad.
3. Ore, wheat, sheep can give you cities and development cards
In other words, you can win the game without ever using wood or brick (other than stealing them from opponent, using monopoly or year of plenty to get them, or porting for them).
4. Knights, sevens, and blockable setups
Sometimes, a setup is entirely dependent on 1 hex. If that is the case, it is incredibly vulnerable to getting blocked continuously by knights. Especially if that hex is an ore, wheat, or sheep. Remember that sevens also even out throughout the game (balanced dice just got a new update that makes 7s even more balanced), so counting the 7s rolled can help you get an idea of what is come.
5. Balanced dice
While far from perfectly balanced, the dice IS balanced in the sense that it will increase the likelihood of the numbers that have not come a lot to show up more often. As far as I can tell, it does not do much to prevent things that have already rolled a lot from rolling normally, but this is worth keeping in mind. Have the 8s not rolled a lot? Or the 4 has not come yet? It might come soon - and multiple times!
On the mental side of things, never ever give up. I have won games that seemed completely lost. Even ones where my opponents would say "there is dishonor in resigning" (his literal words). If your setup has potential (which it should since you picked it), play it out and trust it. If you lose by an incredibly large margin, note that and try to figure out why.
