Just now saw this video. Love the old Argentines. The round was developed (or at least adopted by Belgium) in 1889. The Argentines adopted it in 1891 and used it up until they adopted the 7.62 NATO round. In a large ring action, the 7.65x53 round is easily every bit as effective as the .308 Winchester, which mean that the .308 is nothing new and the Argentines have been doing its job for many facades before it's inception.
I have a couple of 1909 Argentine actions that I will be building custom bolt guns out of. So far, I'm thinking 7mm Mauser (just cuz I like the round) and 6.5 PRC. I also agree with you about the 6.5 Swedes. Those are beautiful guns with outstanding metallurgy.

I’m already hooked I have a 1946 Mossberg 46B 22 LR boltaction rifle that my great uncle Dayton gave me when I was 13 years old that would be 1983 LOL. I now own a Mosin-Nagant 90/30. And my next hunt I am looking for a Mauser I don’t know which kind yet. I guess it will be whatever I can find for a reasonable price. That will add to my collection of A.R. 15‘s, AK-47 or as it would be called a AKM in 7.62x39. I haven’t got one in 5.45 x 39 yet. I did say yet. And of course my wonderful collection of Ruger 1022‘s. I really enjoy shooting those. Well wish me luck on my next find will be the Mauser. Thank you guys again. It is true they definitely do not make them like they used to.
I had the occasion to buy a 6.5 Swedish Mauser from Big 5 for 125.00 in 2000 perfect blond stock finish on the steel was flawless as well and one of the most accurate rifles I have owned. If I remember correctly it had Husqavarna markings on it.
My first rifle was a 1890 something Argentine Carbine in 7.65x53, the only ammo available was surplus, first time I fired it a flame over 12 inches came out the barrel. Quit using because of the ammo that was available, one day at the range it blew the barrel ring off and I was worried of the safety of it. But I sure did love that rifle
Thanks do not have rifle anymore. I'm trying to remember the "poor boys 30-06 Mauser combo"? Was a popular wildcat for Mausers yrs ago. Was it a 8 mm case with 30-06 bullet? Or 30-06 chamber & cartridge to shoot the 8 mm round higher power?
Many Custom Mauser rifle builders, including myself consider this as the pinnacle 98 action to build a rifle on. My favorite is a custom rifle chambered in .25-06 that is a tack driver. Shooting 100 grain PEP bullets, deadly medicine for coyotes.

1889 on that caliber. And this rifle along with the Chilean 1912 were part of an arms race between chile and Argentina. 1891 argentine, 1895 Chilean, 1909 argentine, 1912 Chilean. Patreon support here. Your long range mil-surp videos are my favorite. Not sure why. They just are. Please keep 'em coming. (Hey, how about shooting a handgun from there?)
You guys should do a long range test and comparison of the Winchester extreme point ammunition with other proven rounds. We have seen the ballistic performance in gel but videos of long range accuracy are scarce or non-existent. It would be nice to know the abilities before spending $50 or more to go to a long distance shooting range.
Awesome metallurgy and craftsmanship as the Sistema Colt Modelo 1927 pistol both were made in Argentina by Dirección General de Fabricaciones Militares in Rosario facilites!! High quality arms!!,very precise machoning and tight tolerantes, great shooters!!
I believe most of these 1909 rifles still have the crest, and most 1891s have a ground crest. My 1891 rifle is ground but my 1891 Calvary carbine is not and neither is my 1909 rifle Out of all my Mausers, the Argentine variants have probably the smoothest action and best machine work. But, I don't have a Swedish... My 1891 looks nearly new if it wasn't for the ground crest! If PPU ever shuts down, I'll seriously cry. I reload, but sometimes I don't have the time and just want to shoot..and their brass is great. The other options for oddball military calibers are expensive and harder to find.
To me you get a lot more bang for your buck with milsurps. They are both fun and cheap to own. I personally think that they are more fun to shoot than anything else out there.
3Eighties Opinion Sure all if the modularity of the AR15 is pretty modern but its a relatively old design. I think he is calling on Mauser to make a new rifle entirely.

Chile was worried about an Argentinian invasion, I have a 1912/61, converted to 308 in 61. Probably my favorite guns, it's so smooth and amazes me that it's over 100 years old
very cool
Just picked up a 1909 argentine thats been sporterized probably some 50 or 60 years ago. Some mismatched parts, but im very excited. Want to throw a scope on it. Cheap as hell ammo
Hola amigo estaría bien que hicieras un vídeo de efectos de balas en caza real como hago yo en mi canal.
I like this old gun.I really liked the carbine you previously showcased.
I have a couple old Lee Enfield British 303 cal. Two are sportarized and the 3rd is original.Dad bought 2 for $15.00 each when I was 7 years old.The sportarized one was the one I killed my 1st deer with atv8 years old.
the Belgians adopted the 7.65 in 1889, IIRC
...And what about the Sistema Colt 1927 from Argentina?
Wonderful consistency; it really seems to love that PPU ammunition.
Such cool stuff! You guys are awesome, thank you so much!!
I'm a Swede guy but there's something about those receivers in the white look so good...
That rifle is absolutely gorgeous
Great bolt rifle.
That was an impressive group at 300 yards with open sights !!! Very nice shooting !!
Can we please get an M1 Garand at 600 yards video it’s been years since we’ve seen the M1 brought out
I know its not a Mauser but Gew88s are very underrated, would love to see Eric and Chad pull out theirs again!
Patreon support here. Your long range mil-surp videos are my favorite. Not sure why. They just are. Please keep 'em coming. (Hey, how about shooting a handgun from there?)
Eric totally missed the opportunity to say "go-for it". 22:24
My father has a sporterized one. Might buy it off of him and get an original stock
How is it possible the wood is most often in good condition?
Pardon my history nerd but 7.65x53 was developed by Mauser for Belgium along the the Mauser 1889 rifle. The 1889 got around, the ammo even more so.
In another video eric said that in combat he would prefer rifles that utilize a piston rather than a gas system. Why is that the case?
My k98k came with the Argentinean cavalry bolt. For being more rare can't get rid of it to fund a correct bolt ......
I saw one for sell but said it was chamber in 7 milmeter mauser
What about the 1909 Argentine Mauser in 30-06
I have a M12 300 win mag and yes they are still making good rifles
Jeez eric you're an incredible shot
I have a 1891 Argentina made in 1894. It is my favorite rifle. Even more than my gew98
I believe most of these 1909 rifles still have the crest, and most 1891s have a ground crest. My 1891 rifle is ground but my 1891 Calvary carbine is not and neither is my 1909 rifle
Out of all my Mausers, the Argentine variants have probably the smoothest action and best machine work.
Terrible fierro💪
To me you get a lot more bang for your buck with milsurps. They are both fun and cheap to own. I personally think that they are more fun to shoot than anything else out there.
One more question: how much does the Infantry one weights?
7.65x53 was first developed for the 1889 Belgian Mauser.
Mauser should make a modern semi-auto
How modern? Ar 15 modern?
3Eighties Opinion
Sure all if the modularity of the AR15 is pretty modern but its a relatively old design.
I think he is calling on Mauser to make a new rifle entirely.
@@randybowen4675 right. Its mid 1900s tech lol. But if they were to make an entirely new rifle from scratch itd be another ar 15 lol
@WiffleballTony
Yeap! The actual H&K is the former Mauser!
Regards
Hi can you please list in order the best mauser variants. Some include Argentine, Brasil, Swedish, Yugo, German, Chilean, persian, turkish, mexican, Checz, ect...
Watched All quiet on the western front 20 years after first watching it in English class in high school, I want a k98 that much more. I have a yugo Mauser, & been pretending I’m Ed Harris in enemy at the gate every time I go deer hunting
which is more accurate ? the 1891 or 1909, I heard that there is a slighly difference between both barrels.
Chad's determined to get that gopher
If you're going to shoot a 6" group at 300m like that we need a spotting scope cam up on that target.
Its great to learn the history and functionally of our military rifles
Btw the 6.5x55 ppu I just got on SG was $14.97 a box picked up 3 boxes
