The right arrow was not working on my D-pad so I bought some parts to fix my PSP-1000. At first it did not work, but after taking it apart again I go the whole system to work.
bro i struggled with this for hours and search all of you tube and found nothing but i figured it out the problem was the psp ips housing remove the metal plate and make sure that it is actually placed correctly
I had the same issue in that my left d-pad button would not work but the others did. I removed the outer casing, screen and dpad unit as per this video. I then used 100% isopropyl alcohol and a cotton bud/q-tip to clean the exposed contacts on the ribbon cable, and reseat and attach the cable. Whilst in there I also cleaned the d-pad contact pads which were pretty dirty. This worked for me and I did not have to replace the d-pad unit. Hopefully this is useful for anyone with the same issue!
Did you try cleaning the dpad contacts w alcohol? I’ve worked on many psps but never had to replace the dpad. I just wash the buttons rubber contact w soap n water and qtip n alcohol the whole board especially the home buttons and it worked every time there was dpad button malfunction.
hey I have the literal same exact problem with my psp. I ordered a new ribbon cable and it has the same issue. What did you do on the 2nd time around? Did you just fiddle with the parts? I've taken mine apart 3 times and just cant seem to get it. Any tips would be appreciated.
So installing the new D-pad fixed the problem but near the end of the video when it didn’t work it was actually the joy stick causing the issue as well. I bought an aftermarket joystick and I was reading that they tend to be faulty. So I installed my original joystick and with the new D-pad (with new rubber pads) and that is what fixed the issue.
@@niccolosaurus5530I had the same issue but I saw the Problem the metal bar wasn't fitted correctly so I fixed it and boom it started working. but then my original joystick left the chat. and bought an aftermarket one didn't have a problem it's back almost new just a new body plate left.

I did. The bigger issue was that the rubber contacts were bad, so for like $10 i just went ahead and replaced everything. Now it works amazing.

Darn was hoping you'd fix it iam having the same problem
The aftermarket thumb stick ended up being the issue in the end. They are hit or miss. Once I put in the original thumb stick it worked like new
Replaced the d pad unit she works great and yes those cheap thumb sticks are junk.
Were did you order part from?
