Just got my LC for about a week now and drove the first tank to empty. Total average was 23.2 MPG, about 65% highway 35% city. I noticed I was averaging like 26-27 MPG while cruising on the highway (I drive like a grandma, around 60MPH). Loving this thing so far!!
Wanted to let you know that I appreciate all these videos about the land cruiser. Also, I appreciate that you mentioned that the CarPlay is working well. I’m always especially curious about the technology quality in these vehicles. Keep it up! I hope this ends up being the best rig you’ve ever ever had.
A REAL world vid...good deal...not just haters not wanting/liking the 4 cyl, and not just fan boy reviewers who walk around the vehicle and tell you how great it is without actually driving it.
It sucks to have a payment like this, but I like to own the vehicles I feel my audience would consider buying to give real world experience with them. I appreciate it!
Hey Jon, I just got my LC FE in Meteor Shower. Loving it. Similar but different from our 1999 Land Cruiser. Something for you to consider: you may want to keep better ventilation about the NiMh battery in the back end. You had your truck really packed tight, and that vent needs to be clear so you don’t heat up the hybrid battery. Just a thought. Dr. M
HUGE fan of the 200 series Land Cruiser, despite never having owned one. I am fortunate enough to own an 8 cylinder truck of another make, and I LOVE the entire 8 cylinder, body on frame, driving experience. Do not know whether it's true, but I have read that automakers moved from 8 cylinder, and now even 6 cylinder engines to hybrids and turbo 4's, less to do with mpg per se, than government mandated emissions standards. It seems to be true, because, if the 8 cylinder Land Cruiser was getting approximately 15 mpg on the highway, then a turbo 4 cylinder getting approximately 19 (or even 20 mpg) on the highway is not exactly something to brag about. Just going off of what people type on UA-cam, there seem to be plenty of people who would happily pay for the gas, if they could get their beloved 5.7 & 4.6 liter 8 cylinder engines back in (a brand new) their 200-series Land Cruiser's, LX 570's, GX 460's, Tundra's and Sequoia's. The flip side is that, there are also plenty of people who barely care what type of powertrain is in their vehicle, as long as it has Apple Car Play and a heated steering wheel.
I have 1958 base, premium and drive like a grandma with smaller tires. Coasts well and get 27.7. If I am freeway it’s about 22.6 and I am at about 8k miles already
My case for using higher octane is: less stops at gas stations. Not concerned about the price of gas itself but all the snacks and drinks my family tends to buy in every fueling stop😅
My wife drove my new LC and obtained 19.5 miles per gallon. Her trip included city driving and 80 miles an hour on the freeway. I drove a 120 combined miles of rural 40 and 50 mph, Freeway with limits of 60 & 70, and city driving. I obeyed the speed limit and averaged 27.5 miles per gallon. I also had the truck in Eco mode. I am delighted.
Just like the toyota Crown Platinum model which is completely focused on Performance rather than savings, the New Landcruiser purpose is performance orientated.
The only negatives I see with the LC so far is wish they had a B Mode (in addition to Eco, Normal, Sport) for steep downhills to engage the hybrid to slow the vehicle more (4cylinder has poor engine braking vs a v8 for icy downhills). I don't think using the trailer brake mode 5K+ does anything if not towing for downhills? Also going from 0 to 20 mph on a hill or getting on it accelerating takes some time for the turbo to spool up maybe and plus torque converter not designed tight so loud and buzzy I guess that's how designed? It has decent pep once hit 20 feels like.
5100 miles, mostly mountains and curvy highways in northern Nevada and California, always in ECO mode, Falken Wildpeak AT4W, no passengers, removed air dams: 19.2 MPG
Thanks for videos and information. I am considering the Land Cruiser. To your problem, I had an A-pillar trim wind noise issue with my Toyota Corolla years ago... temp fix was a toothpick jam in. RTV fixed is later.
We got our heritage blue first edition (just like yours) about a week or two after yours and we must drive like maniacs. Using mid-grade fuel and averaging 17.3 mpg on interstate (78 mph) and balance on city streets (same). Not great mpg but we absolutely love how it drives. Maybe it will get better in time. We haven't taken it on any long trips yet. Stay tuned..........
The wind noise/vibration is coming from the outside A-Pillar, mid-windshield, behind the vertical black plastic cover piece... there is a vertical 2" gap for some crazy reason. I stuffed some 1/4" diameter tube foam from HD into the gap and the problem went away. The gap is on both sides of the windshield, but only seems to be an issue on the passenger side. Hope they do a real fix for it.
enjoying your experiences with the new vehicles! I'm building out my ol' 5gen 4runner! maybe in 3 years after they work out the issues, I'll be ready! thanks for your insight and experience!
You have to drive a hybrid differently than a normal non hybrid vehicle. I have a 05 Prius (best car I ever owned) that has an average of 46 mpg and typically I’m getting between 50 and 52 mpg. If you drive it like a hybrid you should actually get better gas milage. First of all you should add 5-7 PSI in your tires and use the pulse and lift method on the gas pedal, lay off the gas pedal and coast when you know you’re coming to a stop sign or red light. Do not mash the pedal down when leaving red lights etc. Get behind big 18 wheel trucks when you can on the highway to draft. There is a great video in “The car care nuts” UA-cam page “How to get better gas Milage out of your Toyota and Lexus hybrids” i recommend watching it. He’s a Toyota Lexus mechanic he also has a video called “The 2024 Land Cruiser should you buy it” great in-depth video from a mechanic. I suggest checking them out. Love the Land Cruiser video updates! When you get with the engineers can you ask if the vehicle can be tuned to accept regular unleaded fuel like the Tacoma? And what will the long term issues be if you don’t run premium fuel in your Land Cruiser.
So, in my state DE, you actually could get 24mpg doing the speed limit here(55 mph). If you're getting 23mpg driving 70mph, 24- 25mpg shouldn't even be an issue in my area.
Funny enough, I get a very similar noise on the highway from the lower A-pillar on my 5th Gen 4Runner, but the driver's side. Only appeared recently... when I had the windshield replaced.
I have such an old 5g 4Runner that I hesitate to say anything at 290k on my 2011…but it is 💯 true that I did not have a single sound from the dash, center stack, or a-pillars until I finally decided to replace the windshield. After a new windshield I have a squeak that I have never heard before from the center, just to the right of the driver side windshield wiper at rest.
Great video! I wonder if the windshield rattle is the same as the 5th gen 4Runners? There was a TSB for it, I think it was something with alignment pieces during manufacturing that stay in the truck. The fix was to remove them. How does rear seat storage compare to the 4Runner? I would’ve liked to seen you take everything for your trip with the land cruiser and move it to the 4Runner to see what that looks like. I am a Cavalry blue 4Runner owner too! Good luck with your prop search!
I don't really get the argument of tuning the LC for premium gas making it better as a global platform. Basically they are increasing the gas requirement, which means it would actually be more restrictive as a global platform. Am I missing something here? Shouldn't LCs be able to thrive in any environment and in that case, accept regular fuel by default?
Of the 29 countries I’ve driven in the US has the lowest octane I’ve ever seen. In Europe most gas is 95 octane. I’m writing this from South Korea and filled up this afternoon. 93 was “regular.” I’ve been to every continent but Africa, and everyone has higher octane than we do. Shouldn’t be a problem.
I'm not that familiar with plug in car refrigerators, I'm curious how long you can leave this plugged in without running the car? Just curious for a long weekend camp trip how that would work. Any danger of running it down? Thinking that's a plus for the hybrid.
Just picked up an LC mid-grade on 20" wheels with the same paint scheme. On the A Pillar, did you check if the black separator between the roof and body color was loose at all? I tapped the ones in the D pillars and they made a sound like they weren't snug. Just a thought.
I see 24-26 mpg driving on the freeway right after fill up and I can usually get a trip mostly on the freeway and up hill to my house once I exit of 20-22.2 mpg
If you keep using regular gas in that vehicle it will develop a ticking noise when you accelerate. But the good news its that it will take a long time to develop that problem. Since you only keep vehicles for a short period of time whoever buys this SUV from you will inherit that problem. I know because it happened to a Lexus sedan that I own.
LC or 4 runner are both excellent options. 4 runner will have more Trim levels and different price levels importantly the non hybrid turbo I4 is Also available
I have the same noise on the passenger side mirror area. I thought it was from the little piece of plastic cladding that is in front of the mirror. As for gas, EVERYONE should join Costco. You make up for the cost of the membership with the savings on gas at their pumps alone. Premium 93 has ranged from 3.30 to 3.57 in East Central Florida. Lots of land out here. You should check out Flagler/Volusia counties. Also what tires are you running?
big fan of Parrish. It definitely has blown up from when I moved there in 2018.Make sure if you're looking for actual property that you're not going to get the suburbs creeping up on you in just a few years. Lakewood Ranch has done that with moving east.
For sure. That was the plan but we found a property a little close to the city so if they creep to us hopefully the value skyrockets and we just sell. Move even further away lol
I had the same issue with 2024 Tundra but on the drivers side. Turned out to be an issue with the side mirror. The dealership replaced that and the noise went away
Cool to hear about the good 2400w inverter experience. I think a lot of variables could influence things, different directions, different fuel, different general temps or weather there and back perhaps. So was the overall average around like 21mpg for the trip then?
Our Land Cruiser also having a noise on the passenger side a pillar at high speeds and cross winds! Ours almost sounds like static from a speaker but I can confirm it definitely isn’t the speaker.
@@markclaypole1573ya that’s probably it. It’s the only thing in that area remotely “loose”. Maybe the weather strip? Tried poking around a bit but it’s pretty difficult to tell what it is for sure.
The LC250/Prado may be a global product, but the only other region where they offer that hybrid powertrain is China. So why is premium fuel a requirement? Probably just to get slightly better power numbers.
Thanks for the video! I am considering retiring my 2012 4runner for a new landcruiser. (I can finally afford one) Good to know that you can put regular fuel in it.
Great summary of your trip, thank for your sharing. I think the premium gas did make the difference in mileage on your return trip, although your speed obviously can make a difference too. I was wondering if you can verify that Toyota puts a weight limit in the back due to the battery pack...I have heard they recommend no more than 160 lbs on top of the battery pack in the back of the landcruiser. I understand there is a sticker located in the back end of the battery pack that recommends the weight limit. Thanks again for doing this video! In regards to that wind noise, it may be a weld issue within the frame on that side...I had a similar problem with a Toyota Camry many years ago..hopefully Toyota figures and fixes it promptly for you.
I hope they do too!!!! Thanks for the support and I’ll try to get a solid answer for you but yes I think it is direct weight they don’t want back there
I had a similar noise with my 2023 Ford bronco. It was some of the black wire wrapping had come undone about 3 inches long and it was slapping inside the wheel well area.
I was close to getting a new Land Cruiser but instead I opted for a 2024 RAV4 Prime XSE. I drive it like I stole it and still manage 60mpg. Until my 2012 GX460 fails I'll keep it in the stable. in the future I will still consider a newer Land Cruiser (Prado) platform.
Maybe unpopular thought but if one is cross shopping a body on frame suv with a unibody one, they should really go for the unibody one since since the comparison exists they don't have the needs for the body on frame nature for towing, off roading etc. They'd benefit from the better mpg and comfort
I have exact same build and same wind noise from right A pillar. Happens with cross winds. I thought noise was coming from tweeter at first. Haven’t figured it out.
Having a noise from A-pillar passenger on FE LC as well. I was thinking it was door seal since it happens when I get by semis or gust of wind. Could be window as well, have t diagnosed yet since it’s hard for dealer to find. If it gets worse, I’ll have them look. They did fix door stricter noise on driver door that I thought was seat belt mount in B-pillar.
I’m hearing now after this video a ticking from the seat belt area too. What fixed that? Yea try to have somebody else drive it for you. It sounds like it is coming from the speaker area
@@TRDJon dealer took door card off etc and said they found striker just needed adjusted. Sound traveled up b-pillar so it was really hard for them to narrow down. Not sure what the actual adjustment was, but they just said striker adjusted. You can confirm this is it by putting pressure on door and it should stop.
I just passed passed literally like 10K miles on my FE. Regular gas and got 27.8 mpg highway @ 75mph. Once everything breaks in and loosens up it gets better. Your expectations are too high for noise from the wind on a Brick shaped Truck
l’ve driven cars for 40 years and never had to use premium, not starting now. I save the high octane for the plane which is understandable due to altitude changes. I like the car but at that price I will not marry a high gas bill also. Don’t like it that much.
Highway MPG isn't really reflecting real world driving, my 4runner does 17L/100KM(14mpg) in daily city driving but hits at least 11L/100KM (23MPG) on long distance road trip and the most recent cross Canada 10000KM road trip it did 10.4L/100KM.
Nice video. When you were describing the noise, the thing I thought of was maybe check that black separation piece between the heritage blue body and the white roof? Not seated all the way? Sure hope you figure it out.
Jon. I hear the same thing on mine. Seriously i though it was just mine...same area and everything. Please let me know if you find anything out...i work for toyota so ill let you know if i hear anything on mine
Ss there a dog mode in your new LC? Can you leave AC running for 30-60minutes with car turned off? My Tesla has this but I want to get the new LC if it offers for my Husky. Thank you.
Glad you enjoyed your trip since you put so much blind faith and what’s in the owners manual regarding oil changes, I’m surely confident you followed to the letter of the law also the break and procedure lol!
@@TRDJon sorry for the stupid question but do you mean the gas motor needs to be running/idling or can it be the electric motor powering it in standby mode?
@@TRDJon It is hard to duplicate that at the dealer. I can gun it and go 80+ miles/hour... wont make that noise. BUT once you get some high wind gust, it comes right back on again. I will go to another dealer and keep you posted. Thanks Jon!
That is strange about why the Land Cruiser requires premium since I kind of imagine people either buying them or driving them through less developed countries which I don’t think would have many gas stations and if they do good luck finding one with 93 octane. So I don’t really buy that too much, also with what happened with the FJ Cruiser first requiring premium and then letting it take regular normally after a few model years in. Also, the FJ Cruiser was sold in other markets too, so I don’t buy that excuse. So I think there is likely another reason. I thought it might be a production line thing, but then the new 4Runner is being made in the same factory, and I think Toyota may have a problem if they make the 4Runner require premium. So I’m not really sure why, but I guess we’ll see in a few years if they do the same thing and let it take regular.
@@tombrodzinski157 oh yes, I forgot that I guess that’s Toyota bypass so they don’t have to worry about countries that can’t get premium still I don’t like it. I would rather put regular in and save the money.
I’m getting 16-18 mpg on mixed driving. And I’m granny driving so far. Premium fuel. Forums show haves and have nots. Most get low 20’s. But a few of us get really bad mileage for no known reason. I’m concerned it’s a engine or computer issue
I averaged 19 MPG driving from New York to Florida in my 2017 GX460, lifted 2.5 inches, and on 275/65/17 General Grabber X3 mud terrains. Average speed was about 72 to 77 MPH.
@@TRDJon both ways I averaged the same. I drove the whole time minus 1 hour... and my dad has a heavier foot than me 😆. My MPG dropped a little when he took over.
Had 5 Toyota trucks over time. 4Runners and tacomas. None of them got more than 19mpg. Ever. My Chevy 2500 HD was better at 21-22mpg. My raptor got 16mpg. Now my roush F150 supercharged 5.0 gets around 17mpg. Don’t understand how Toyota can’t get into the 25mpg range at least.
Just more opportunity for us in Tampa area man. More city activities too for locals vs tourism. Destin is good for sure. We will be up here often to check on our properties.
91 octane is a cleaner running fuel from a top teir gas station, thats all I run in my vehicles for the last 25 years, no emission issues since the change in both of my vehicles, better gas mileage and performance as well.😊
Me still crying in 2008 sequoia 5.7L 223400 miles at 13.5 mpg. I’m sooooo tempted to buy….a new Honda Ridgeline. It’s all I need honestly. Plus VTEC. 😂 But I also may buy a can an spyder RT limited. Hey…I can’t let this 100% go to waste! Rock on brother! Ps. Is your Airbnb ready yet? I think you mentioned you’re doing one right?
@@TRDJon Cool - appreciate the insight. I love the fuel savings on the Land Cruiser, but everyone who has tried both keeps pointing at that V6. Imagine the Tundra iForce Max in the GX instead of the Land Cruiser's!
Those mpg numbers are a bit disappointing, what’s the point of a four banger + hybrid if you’re only getting a couple of mpgs better than a 6.2L V8 Chevy Tahoe?
Hybrid setup is for power and not fuel efficiency like in the Prius, hybrid Camry / rav4 etc. The benefit here is better for tow / hauling, the 2400w inverter as well as low speed off-roading when the battery can provide ~150lb-ft of torque instantly in low ranges
@@chibbyylol but already had that power and more with the aforementioned power train. More power and almost the same mpg, why trade that for less power same mpg in a more complicated potentially less durable setup?
@@didixtar2863 because the government said so. While toyota makes a lot of hybrid vehicles, they don't have much EVs to offset their fleet mpg and they don't purchase carbon credits hence the downsizing and hybridization of these engines
@@chibbyylol oh I get that, but my point is why stick with Toyota the? Reliability was their THING, with that gone … I just don’t see the benefit of getting a Toyota anymore.
@@didixtar2863 well let's give it a chance at the least since this powertrain hasn't been out for too long to deem reliable OR unreliable. Sure from theorizing turbocharging can add complications as well as hybrid systems but Toyota has been doing both for god knows how long now. Hybrids since the early 2000s with the Prius and turbocharging even before that with the 2JZ, previous 8AR and all. They've had a good track record so far (hence why they're known for reliability) so it could be best to give them the chance at least to show it's also the case here and if not, fix any issues and perfect it like they've always done. Even their V8s when they first came out had issues which eventually was fixed
I can get 19 mpg on a 2021 4wd Nissan Armada with regular gas. Main difference is that it has a 5.6L natural aspired V8 with 7 speed transmission and weighs significantly more. Not convinced about this hybrid turbo 4 cylinder Toyota engine. I’ve had Land Cruisers in the past and they had inline 6 engines, Toyota should have gone back to Inline 6’s

Premium gas = ECU advances the ignition timing = engine moves the truck more effortlessly at highway speeds = better MPG.
For sure way better then for sure!

@@mack86523 The Octane rating systems are different.
I will look! It sounds like it is coming from the bottom but I’ll check the top! Thanks!!!!!
2019 Tacoma TRD OR, PA to Palm Coast Fl 23mpg avg down and back. 87 octane, 70-75 mph.
Nice!!
Try ethanol-free fuel next time! I bet you'll get an another 2-3 MPG. CircleK has it at 90 octane.
1200 miles on my 1958 and I’m averaging 20.7 mpg on premium fuel. Pretty great compared to my 23 4runner and way more enjoyable to drive
Thanks for sharing!
Very predicable that 4Runner guys are lining up for these. Very telling that no 200 series LC guys are evenly remotely excited about it.
A big brick of an SUV is never going to get good gas milage at 75 mph. Most of the roads near me are 55 to 65 miles per hour.
That’s optimal for sure to get solid mpg. Yea. Massive brick through the air.
Land Cruiser or 4Runner 6th gen ? Help me pick Jon. Comfort and cool looks
Brother ima have to go with LC. It kills me to say that.
LC or 4 runner are both excellent options. 4 runner will have more Trim levels and different price levels importantly the non hybrid turbo I4 is Also available
Crazy that my 5th gen 4runner gets the same MPG as the hybrid 4cyl.
Yea that is considering Toyota rates it 5 mpg less
I guess I should say the hybrid 4cyl with regular unleaded. Interesting stuff!
Did I miss which you like best the 4Runner or the LC?
I have the same noise on the passenger side mirror area. I thought it was from the little piece of plastic cladding that is in front of the mirror. As for gas, EVERYONE should join Costco. You make up for the cost of the membership with the savings on gas at their pumps alone. Premium 93 has ranged from 3.30 to 3.57 in East Central Florida. Lots of land out here. You should check out Flagler/Volusia counties. Also what tires are you running?
I'll look it up, currently looking in East Manatee County. These are the stock Michelins.
big fan of Parrish.
Gum for the A pillar 😂
Cool content.
My wife has a heavy foot💨
Thanks Mike! hahaha
Cool to hear about the good 2400w inverter experience. I think a lot of variables could influence things, different directions, different fuel, different general temps or weather there and back perhaps. So was the overall average around like 21mpg for the trip then?
yes I would say like 21.5 or so ish. There was some idle time too in traffic I failed to mention and also waiting in the drivethru
@@TRDJon nice, not too bad at all for the general performance it had and the speeds you were travelling.
For sure and it was a tad stormy too here and there.
Our Land Cruiser also having a noise on the passenger side a pillar at high speeds and cross winds! Ours almost sounds like static from a speaker but I can confirm it definitely isn’t the speaker.
YES!!!! That’s what it sounds like!!!!
Almost sounds like maybe the cowl is vibrating?
@@markclaypole1573ya that’s probably it. It’s the only thing in that area remotely “loose”. Maybe the weather strip? Tried poking around a bit but it’s pretty difficult to tell what it is for sure.
Somebody commented too maybe it’s the black piece a little loose on the a pillar that separates the roof?
The LC250/Prado may be a global product, but the only other region where they offer that hybrid powertrain is China. So why is premium fuel a requirement? Probably just to get slightly better power numbers.
I think they made a big mistake requiring premium fuel, it's an extra $1 per gallon, show stopper for me, you can have it...
Thanks for the video! I am considering retiring my 2012 4runner for a new landcruiser. (I can finally afford one) Good to know that you can put regular fuel in it.
After filling up my 2023 Tacoma TRD OR V6 at Sam’s Club in Pearl City and driving home to Manoa I can get my display up to 24.6 mpg.
Nice!
I hope they offer the round lights on all trims next year.
I have exact same build and same wind noise from right A pillar. Happens with cross winds. I thought noise was coming from tweeter at first. Haven’t figured it out.
Thanks for sharing! Let me know if you do and I will keep you all posted. Seems like there are several having this issue per my comments.
Will do. I’ll try it. Thanks!
You’re in Destin? Had no idea, I’m in Freeport! Lmk of any 4x4 meet-ups, I’d love to tag along 😎
I just passed passed literally like 10K miles on my FE. Regular gas and got 27.8 mpg highway @ 75mph.
Once everything breaks in and loosens up it gets better. Your expectations are too high for noise from the wind on a Brick shaped Truck
Nice! And it isn't wind, I accept that, rather it is something loose sounding when the wind blows. Definitely not normal.
I’ve been alternating regular and premium tanks in my 1958 and consistently get about 2-3 mpg better using premium.
Oh wow! Good to know!
The gr86 is a fantastic piece
Actually thanks, told me something I didn’t know and talked me out of getting one.
What’s that?
l’ve driven cars for 40 years and never had to use premium, not starting now. I save the high octane for the plane which is understandable due to altitude changes. I like the car but at that price I will not marry a high gas bill also. Don’t like it that much.
Gotcha
That 4Runner is epic. I'd keep that little monster....
For sure!
What tire are you running on your 4Runner in the background ? Also if you want to see overpriced properties come down here to Naples .
Having the same issue of low MPG numbers with my new
First Edition. 19-20 mpg on highway driving.
Highway MPG isn't really reflecting real world driving, my 4runner does 17L/100KM(14mpg) in daily city driving but hits at least 11L/100KM (23MPG) on long distance road trip and the most recent cross Canada 10000KM road trip it did 10.4L/100KM.
Hwy mpg is reflecting real world hwy driving.
I avg 17.9 in my ‘16 LR4 @6000’ w/lots of city driving. 20mpg @sea level seems kinda low.
No sympathy for fuel mileage here.. Raptor.. 13 mpg in CA. 😎
Just drove round trip to San Diego going about 70-80 mph I did 18 mph..Im also running 285/70/18 Nitto Ridge grapplers
How heavy are they? Like load range?
@@TRDJon E
Oh that’s heavy
@@TRDJon yes they are...got a great deal on them..
Does the LC or 4Runner feel like it has more space?
Nice video. When you were describing the noise, the thing I thought of was maybe check that black separation piece between the heritage blue body and the white roof? Not seated all the way? Sure hope you figure it out.
I’ll have to look there. It sounds like it is coming for the bottom though. But I will look.
I’ve heard Destin is pretty cool… wondering why you and your wife are moving to the Tampa area?
More opportunity for us there. More things to do as locals as well. Actual roads and not traffic on an island lol.
@@TRDJon makes sense! Good luck with the search.
Thank you!
Are you concerned at all about the warranty issues not using 91 octane could cause? I only ask because it is specifically addressed in the manual.
No. Toyota pulls timing. It isn't an issue at all
@@TRDJon Until it is.

Ss there a dog mode in your new LC? Can you leave AC running for 30-60minutes with car turned off? My Tesla has this but I want to get the new LC if it offers for my Husky. Thank you.
I have the ticking by windshield on 24 4Runner too
That’s annoying
I love your content my man. I hate the direction Toyota is going but I appreciate your videos man
Your wife's got a lead foot 😅 Hey Jon does that 2400 watt inverter plug need the engine to be on for it to work? Thanks for the great video!
Yes it unfortunately does.
Glad you enjoyed your trip since you put so much blind faith and what’s in the owners manual regarding oil changes, I’m surely confident you followed to the letter of the law also the break and procedure lol!
Not sure I understand this comment.
Were you able to leave the fridge plugged in the truck while you overnight? It didn't run the batteries down???
You cannot run it unless the vehicle is on
Does the inverter stay on and power the fridge the entire time (even when the car is shut off)?
Unfortunately the engine has to be on.
@@TRDJon sorry for the stupid question but do you mean the gas motor needs to be running/idling or can it be the electric motor powering it in standby mode?
I haven’t tried it in just accessory mode. But I believe the actual engine needs to be running.
An old school LC 200 wouldn't have a noise issue like that even after 10yrs and 150K miles.
I definitely start noticing that wind noise… I didn’t know if that’s something dealer can fix or not. Following this issue…
Lemme know too! I'll keep ya'll updated.
@@TRDJon It is hard to duplicate that at the dealer. I can gun it and go 80+ miles/hour... wont make that noise. BUT once you get some high wind gust, it comes right back on again. I will go to another dealer and keep you posted.
Thanks Jon!
How come you ran regular when it calls for premium? Where there any issues running regular?
No issues with it at all.
Other markets get the diesel engine.
@@tombrodzinski157 oh yes, I forgot that I guess that’s Toyota bypass so they don’t have to worry about countries that can’t get premium still I don’t like it. I would rather put regular in and save the money.
Maybe it was a corporate answer? I honestly have no idea brotha
@@TRDJon that is what my guess is
It’s not a real Land Cruiser that’s why
From what I’ve heard you have to drive like you have a pre-cracked egg between your foot and the accelerator to get the rated mpg.
Could
Easily get it at 55mph, I think that’s where the get the rating from, I get 24 going like 65 or so
Guessing mpg will improve over first 10k miles.
Hope so
I’m getting 16-18 mpg on mixed driving. And I’m granny driving so far. Premium fuel. Forums show haves and have nots. Most get low 20’s. But a few of us get really bad mileage for no known reason. I’m concerned it’s a engine or computer issue
I'm getting the same mpg as you and I've driven it for 870 miles so far.
You could always use a roof rack to save space.
True
I averaged 19 MPG driving from New York to Florida in my 2017 GX460, lifted 2.5 inches, and on 275/65/17 General Grabber X3 mud terrains. Average speed was about 72 to 77 MPH.
What was it on the return trip?
@@TRDJon both ways I averaged the same. I drove the whole time minus 1 hour... and my dad has a heavier foot than me 😆. My MPG dropped a little when he took over.
@@TRDJon I am in Florida if you want to do a comparison video with the Lexus or our 2024 TRD PRO Sequoia (in magnetic gray) Just let me know.
Yet they can crush the mpg game with all their cars lol. Trucks, naaaaaahhhh
