Krishna was struck dead at his heel by an arrow - the only vulnerable spot of his body. That very spot is also chosen in a similar fate in oral histories of Achilles, a son of Thetis, a Nereid sea nymph and tutored by the Centaur Chiron (which could be interpreted as a reference to nomadic, Skythian influence). Bhagavad Gita and the story of Krishna ("Harivamsa") were a later addition to the story. Its quite probable the original story may not have even had the character of Krishna since his role in it essentially that of a counselor.

There is no tradition of it in Pashto, or Balochi or Tajiki, which are the major Afghan languages bordering Pakistan. Last Virtous king Parikshit takes the throne in the declined society and tries to gather it, but then again, it has gone back to herds and tribe like cultures, from the glory. Parikshit looses and makes way for the Kali(Darkness) to take over. Hence comes the Kaliyuga, the age of Darkness which we live in, tribes societies, nations, religions emerge, cruel emperors, Kings and dictators grow. The Kaliyuga continues in one form or another, so Krishna spoke.

Correction- Pandavas actually went to hell initially, after their death, except for Yudhister & his dog. In heaven, Yudhister saw all the Kavravas in heaven, and he was livid. And he could not find any of his brothers and Dravpadi (their wife.) Yudhister then asked to be taken to hell to meet his brothers and wife. He found them there in bad conditions paying for their mistakes and past sin. He then asked to remain with them in hell. However, Pandavas had to endure temporary punishment as a result of their past sin and mistakes. After serving their time and undergoing purification, they were eventually granted entry into heaven. Their virtuous deeds and righteousness outweighed their temporary sojourn, leading to their eventual ascent to heaven. Kavravas, on the other hand, had enjoyed heaven for their good deeds and were eventually sent to hell. After they faced their misdeeds, they reentered heaven. All Pandavas had an ego, greed, addiction to food like Bhima was, envy, etc., except Yudhistera. He was the only one who was wise and had totally been able to renounce everything. Including his brothers and wife. When Pandavas were dying one by one, he never looked back once. He had no emotions of any kind. This was a sign that he had truly renounced everything and achieved peace. NOTE- Heaven and hell in Hinduism isn't physical place. It is merely a state of mind. Being at peace is heaven, and suffering is hell. Therefore, to get to heaven and achieve salvation, one must renounce everything and be at peace to be in heaven. I.e., anger, ego, greed, etc. Then only you achieve Mosksha, AKA salvation. If you carry baggage, then you are essentially still suffering for your misdeed, as he has not let things go. Therefore, keep in mind that heaven is a state of mind = at peace. Also, this tale depicts how one cannot know what is right and wrong while doing karma. It is complex. However, one must do their dharma. There is more to it but a lot to explain. Watch other youtube videos on it if interested.

a few corrections: 1. Satyavati was never married before. Vyasa was born out of wedlock. 2. Pandu wasn't exiled, he went on an extended holiday with his wives and children. Draw the parallel between bejng cursed for dying by having sex with some sexual illness, and he used to go away on vacations away from the city to live in the greenery of the forests. 3. There was no first marriage of Kunti, Kunti was only ever married once. All her child were each born from the Devas. Including Karna who was born before she was married to King Pandu.

Very good video and explanation. I watched this because I'm about to read a fantasy novel by Gourav Mohanty called Sons of Darkness and its a fantasy novel based on the Mahabharata. But Karna was also got many insults from many Satriya people by calling him a Charioteer's son. A high level calculation of the number of soldiers who died in war of Mahabharata: Result = approx. 4 million. Here is the breakup: 1) Pandavas had 7 Aukshani army. Kauravas had 11 Aukshani army. Total = 18 Aukshani Army. This part is missed....... Pandavas in exile were passing by a pond. They wanted some water to drink to run down exhaustion. The pond was a prohibited place and was guarded by a yaxa (some one who is between god and human). When the four brothers one by one drank water had been arrested by the yaxa because they did not take permission from him. Knowing this yudhisthir requested the yaxa to give mercy and release his brothers. The yaxa placed a condition that, if he could give correct answers to his five questions then he would release them all. The questions and answers were as followes : 1. What is that fastest : thoughts 2 What is that heaviest: sin 3. What is that darkest : scandal 4. What is that hottest : anger 5. What is that finest : knowledge. Now by getting correct answeres yaxa released all his brothers.
The man and his dog reminded me of a Twilight Zone episode where a dude and his dog died and were walking the dirt road to Heaven they come upon the gatekeeper who doesn't allow the dog in so the man just keeps walking the trail he comes across another gatekeeper who tells him that the other one was the devil and lets him and his dog in

Krishna and Arjuna are the two pillars of Mahabharata...the authors gave equal importance to both characters.. Arjuna is the hero here and Krishna is his mentor..
And the most interesting thing in it is the life stories of every character From the demon decent ghatothkhach To krishna To arjuna Every wise an non wise character has a story of its own in mahabharat thts why its so long a human can spend his life just discovering it's stories and it encourages many philosophical minds around the world

Just joking i hope... trying to explain the impossible..Gandhari was not a hen who laid 100 chickens.. even if she was a fictitious character.. 100 sons means 100 evil qualities..that was the Kauravas... the Pandavas were few..just 5..few good and many evils..and Pandavas came out victorious in the end because they were strict followers of Dharma and therefore God was on their side..good always triumph over evil..

As much as it is claimed to be the epic, it is Indian History. You meet the saints of India and realise that things are not the way it seems and while the plebeian population may make a mess out of history, folktales and golden bards. However, undeniably is the Mahabharata, the Gita and the Ramayana literally Hindu Indian history. It is not a text/novel/fantasy as per the convenience of the Judeo-Christian institutions.

Just to clarify, that it's legendary narrative is only propelled by the majority Western scholars because the true dating of Mahabharat war as per the Indian historical records in Purana texts is 1500 BCE and this upset the narrative of western Indologists who, starting in the colonial times, put forth a theory that the composers of the oldest Indian text The Rigveda invaded India from eastern Europe around 1500 BCE, which has been proven false both by archarology and the study of human genetics. Now if they were to accept Mahabharata's date of 1500 BCE as asserted by the Indian Purana texts, knowing that Mahabharat is a post Vedic text, then where will the put the so called eastern european Aryans who allegedly invaded India in 1500 BCE and left absolutely no evidence of their deeds yet a few thousand of them changed the mother tongue of millions of Indians from the west to the east of the subcontinent without leaving any trace whatsoever of the original langauges, the replacement was so much complete, allegedly, that invading Aryans even changed the names of all rivers, flora and fauna. Something that these alleged east europeans could not do anywhere else in the world but they have allegedly done in India which was one of the most advanced civilisations, upto 10 million people per the archaeological record, complex argicultural society yet they, as per the westenr scholars, lost everything because a few thousand east europeans allegedly invaded India, but please do not ask them for evidence otherwise the western scholars will declare you as Indian nationalists. 😂 Don't take it in a wrong way, there is a lot of work done by Indians and even european scholars which supports the 1500 BCE date of the Mahabharata war, but such work is either brushed under the carpet or it is declared as nationalistic without providing any credible evidence to counter it. This is the mainstream truth about the scholarship of Indologists.
Aryans or proto-indo-europeans didn't come from Europe. They came from Central Asia. Around Tajikistan, Kazakhstan region. If you don't believe in the Indo-European migration, I can tell you don't study history or linguistics very well. Indian Sanskrit-based languages and culture literally is the same as paganistic indo-european cultures. Just because the word European is in "Indo-European" does not mean they came from Europe. So stop having an inferior complex.
@stynershiner1854 I have very well spent a lot of time studying the IE studies and know about the proto Indo European. If you had read it carefully, the steppe people, who are proposed to be the origional PIE people, were from eastern Europe (Eukranian steppes). You cannot play sneaky by saying the Aryans came from central asia, when the steppe theory itself say that the central asia Andronovo/Sintashta who are claimed to be the proto-Indo-Iranian were the people who migrated from eastern europe (the steppe region of Eurkrain). But sorry, we have 100 ancient DNA samples from Pakistan dated 1200 BCE to 800 BCE which show scarcity of steppe R1a. Modern Indians have on average 15% central asian ancestry that mainly belongs to post 800 BCE migrations and mixing. This is supported by both the autosomal ancestey and the male Y haplogroup studies. The so called Sitashta/Andronovo people were Z2124+ branch of R1a and India has a negligible amount of this branch of R1a in India. We have the entire archsrology of the Indus-Saraswati valley, and Ganga plains to disprove any massive migration into the subcontinent that could have any linguistic impact on our people. Even the hydological study of the main river Saraswati of Rigveda, which was flowing from mountains to the ocean as per references in the Rigveda, per evidence lost its connection with it's source the himalayas in 2600 BCE (Chatterjee et al 2019). Rigveda is a text which has 10 books and some of these books were written much before 2600 BCE, and likely older than 3000 BCE, if we look at how many generations of the composers have spent on composing the Rigveda books.

Half God, with honour, grace, unique abilities and still with his promise he destroyed so much things and so much lives. Im big picture we see there was plan from God that he rejected. And after that they made more and more mistakes. While her decendents die, she uses some rituals to bring new decendents of trone. And again insted of making rational decision they grant kingdom to blind man with trust issues, while they have Pandu, who is good candidate for throne. And so many devastation and drama because of indicidual mistakes. GOD has perfect plan for our lives and we try to avoid. I am happy that I found purpose in life. I am happy to know God, and his son, Lord Jesus Christ. When we realise that God has the best plan for us and follow it, this gives joy in life. I don't think the lines between the heroes and the antagonists of this epic is very thin. The Kauravas were clearly the aggressors every single time. The Pandavas surely had flaws but their intent and moral understanding was never questionable which is why the elders of the family as well as the people of the kingdom supported Yudhishthira's succession. That aside, great job! Really well articulated and the effort that went into researching and summarising this vast epic shows.

Bhagavad Gita and the story of Krishna ("Harivamsa") were a later addition to the story. Its quite probable the original story may not have even had the character of Krishna since his role in it essentially that of a counselor.

There is no tradition of it in Pashto, or Balochi or Tajiki, which are the major Afghan languages bordering Pakistan. The Uzbeks and Tajiks quote a lot of Firdausi (a Persian poet), and the Pashtuns have their own folklore. But never has Mahabharata as a traditional tale been told here in any numbers. This man is capping. He is farming likes and comments from Indians by telling lies. Maybe he is settled in India and has learnt the Mahabharata there, but there is no tradition of it in Afghanistan or Pakistan.

The greatest statesmen, politician, and diplomat to ever live, Krishna dies, in the forest alone, helpless, because no body is there, for even the God.
Last Virtous king Parikshit takes the throne in the declined society and tries to gather it, but then again, it has gone back to herds and tribe like cultures, from the glory. Parikshit looses and makes way for the Kali(Darkness) to take over.
Hence comes the Kaliyuga, the age of Darkness which we live in, tribes societies, nations, religions emerge, cruel emperors, Kings and dictators grow. The Kaliyuga continues in one form or another, so Krishna spoke.

Correction- Pandavas actually went to hell initially, after their death, except for Yudhister & his dog. In heaven, Yudhister saw all the Kavravas in heaven, and he was livid. And he could not find any of his brothers and Dravpadi (their wife.) Yudhister then asked to be taken to hell to meet his brothers and wife. He found them there in bad conditions paying for their mistakes and past sin. He then asked to remain with them in hell. However, Pandavas had to endure temporary punishment as a result of their past sin and mistakes. After serving their time and undergoing purification, they were eventually granted entry into heaven. Their virtuous deeds and righteousness outweighed their temporary sojourn, leading to their eventual ascent to heaven. Kavravas, on the other hand, had enjoyed heaven for their good deeds and were eventually sent to hell. After they faced their misdeeds, they reentered heaven. All Pandavas had an ego, greed, addiction to food like Bhima was, envy, etc., except Yudhistera. He was the only one who was wise and had totally been able to renounce everything. Including his brothers and wife. When Pandavas were dying one by one, he never looked back once. He had no emotions of any kind. This was a sign that he had truly renounced everything and achieved peace. NOTE- Heaven and hell in Hinduism isn't physical place. It is merely a state of mind. Being at peace is heaven, and suffering is hell. Therefore, to get to heaven and achieve salvation, one must renounce everything and be at peace to be in heaven. I.e., anger, ego, greed, etc. Then only you achieve Mosksha, AKA salvation. If you carry baggage, then you are essentially still suffering for your misdeed, as he has not let things go. Therefore, keep in mind that heaven is a state of mind = at peace. Also, this tale depicts how one cannot know what is right and wrong while doing karma. It is complex. However, one must do their dharma. There is more to it but a lot to explain. Watch other youtube videos on it if interested.

1. Satyavati was never married before. Vyasa was born out of wedlock.
2. Pandu wasn't exiled, he went on an extended holiday with his wives and children. Draw the parallel between bejng cursed for dying by having sex with some sexual illness, and he used to go away on vacations away from the city to live in the greenery of the forests.
3. There was no first marriage of Kunti, Kunti was only ever married once. All her child were each born from the Devas. Including Karna who was born before she was married to King Pandu.

A high level calculation of the number of soldiers who died in war of Mahabharata: Result = approx. 4 million. Here is the breakup:
1) Pandavas had 7 Aukshani army. Kauravas had 11 Aukshani army. Total = 18 Aukshani Army. Most of the army died in the war
2) 1 Aukshani = Elephants : Chariots : cavalry : Infantry in the ration 1:1:2:5, where 1 unit is 25,000 soldiers
3) 1 Aukshani = 25,000*9 = 225,000 soldiers
4) 18 Aukshani = 225,000*18 = 4,05,000 soldiers

This part is missed.......
Pandavas in exile were passing by a pond. They wanted some water to drink to run down exhaustion. The pond was a prohibited place and was guarded by a yaxa (some one who is between god and human). When the four brothers one by one drank water had been arrested by the yaxa because they did not take permission from him. Knowing this yudhisthir requested the yaxa to give mercy and release his brothers. The yaxa placed a condition that, if he could give correct answers to his five questions then he would release them all. The questions and answers were as followes :
1. What is that fastest : thoughts
2 What is that heaviest: sin
3. What is that darkest : scandal
4. What is that hottest : anger
5. What is that finest : knowledge.
Now by getting correct answeres yaxa released all his brothers.
The man and his dog reminded me of a Twilight Zone episode where a dude and his dog died and were walking the dirt road to Heaven they come upon the gatekeeper who doesn't allow the dog in so the man just keeps walking the trail he comes across another gatekeeper who tells him that the other one was the devil and lets him and his dog in

Krishna and Arjuna are the two pillars of Mahabharata...the authors gave equal importance to both characters.. Arjuna is the hero here and Krishna is his mentor..

Brilliant summary video. But i guess people should read this in detail. Many things are missing . For instance, the third sister of ambika and ambalika, how the 100 kauravas were born, how karn was defeated, the true motive of shakuni , ashwathama, parshurama , barbarik, ghatotkach and so on

For you who’s reading comments confused about how there were 100 sons: kauravas are all born through invitro fertilization in a pot. While in there, someone accidentally breaks the egg into 100 parts and voila. 100 sons.
Just joking i hope... trying to explain the impossible..Gandhari was not a hen who laid 100 chickens.. even if she was a fictitious character.. 100 sons means 100 evil qualities..that was the Kauravas... the Pandavas were few..just 5..few good and many evils..and Pandavas came out victorious in the end because they were strict followers of Dharma and therefore God was on their side..good always triumph over evil..

there is nothing called "South Asian Culture" rather it is Culture of India i.e Bharat
As much as it is claimed to be the epic, it is Indian History. You meet the saints of India and realise that things are not the way it seems and while the plebeian population may make a mess out of history, folktales and golden bards. However, undeniably is the Mahabharata, the Gita and the Ramayana literally Hindu Indian history. It is not a text/novel/fantasy as per the convenience of the Judeo-Christian institutions.

Just to clarify, that it's legendary narrative is only propelled by the majority Western scholars because the true dating of Mahabharat war as per the Indian historical records in Purana texts is 1500 BCE and this upset the narrative of western Indologists who, starting in the colonial times, put forth a theory that the composers of the oldest Indian text The Rigveda invaded India from eastern Europe around 1500 BCE, which has been proven false both by archarology and the study of human genetics. Now if they were to accept Mahabharata's date of 1500 BCE as asserted by the Indian Purana texts, knowing that Mahabharat is a post Vedic text, then where will the put the so called eastern european Aryans who allegedly invaded India in 1500 BCE and left absolutely no evidence of their deeds yet a few thousand of them changed the mother tongue of millions of Indians from the west to the east of the subcontinent without leaving any trace whatsoever of the original langauges, the replacement was so much complete, allegedly, that invading Aryans even changed the names of all rivers, flora and fauna. Something that these alleged east europeans could not do anywhere else in the world but they have allegedly done in India which was one of the most advanced civilisations, upto 10 million people per the archaeological record, complex argicultural society yet they, as per the westenr scholars, lost everything because a few thousand east europeans allegedly invaded India, but please do not ask them for evidence otherwise the western scholars will declare you as Indian nationalists. 😂
Don't take it in a wrong way, there is a lot of work done by Indians and even european scholars which supports the 1500 BCE date of the Mahabharata war, but such work is either brushed under the carpet or it is declared as nationalistic without providing any credible evidence to counter it. This is the mainstream truth about the scholarship of Indologists.
Aryans or proto-indo-europeans didn't come from Europe. They came from Central Asia. Around Tajikistan, Kazakhstan region.
If you don't believe in the Indo-European migration, I can tell you don't study history or linguistics very well. Indian Sanskrit-based languages and culture literally is the same as paganistic indo-european cultures.
Just because the word European is in "Indo-European" does not mean they came from Europe. So stop having an inferior complex.

If you had read it carefully, the steppe people, who are proposed to be the origional PIE people, were from eastern Europe (Eukranian steppes).
You cannot play sneaky by saying the Aryans came from central asia, when the steppe theory itself say that the central asia Andronovo/Sintashta who are claimed to be the proto-Indo-Iranian were the people who migrated from eastern europe (the steppe region of Eurkrain).
But sorry, we have 100 ancient DNA samples from Pakistan dated 1200 BCE to 800 BCE which show scarcity of steppe R1a.
Modern Indians have on average 15% central asian ancestry that mainly belongs to post 800 BCE migrations and mixing. This is supported by both the autosomal ancestey and the male Y haplogroup studies.
The so called Sitashta/Andronovo people were Z2124+ branch of R1a and India has a negligible amount of this branch of R1a in India.
We have the entire archsrology of the Indus-Saraswati valley, and Ganga plains to disprove any massive migration into the subcontinent that could have any linguistic impact on our people.
Even the hydological study of the main river Saraswati of Rigveda, which was flowing from mountains to the ocean as per references in the Rigveda, per evidence lost its connection with it's source the himalayas in 2600 BCE (Chatterjee et al 2019). Rigveda is a text which has 10 books and some of these books were written much before 2600 BCE, and likely older than 3000 BCE, if we look at how many generations of the composers have spent on composing the Rigveda books.

Half God, with honour, grace, unique abilities and still with his promise he destroyed so much things and so much lives. Instead of ruling kingdom and rising Godly generations he gave kimgdom to greedy fisherman, make her Quinn, and plus started to serve her.
Im big picture we see there was plan from God that he rejected. And after that they made more and more mistakes. While her decendents die, she uses some rituals to bring new decendents of trone. And again insted of making rational decision they grant kingdom to blind man with trust issues, while they have Pandu, who is good candidate for throne. And so many devastation and drama because of indicidual mistakes.
GOD has perfect plan for our lives and we try to avoid. I am happy that I found purpose in life. I am happy to know God, and his son, Lord Jesus Christ. When we realise that God has the best plan for us and follow it, this gives joy in life. Feeling that our talent is not wasted and we live full life, with best possible outcomes and fruits.

I don't think the lines between the heroes and the antagonists of this epic is very thin. The Kauravas were clearly the aggressors every single time. The Pandavas surely had flaws but their intent and moral understanding was never questionable which is why the elders of the family as well as the people of the kingdom supported Yudhishthira's succession.
That aside, great job! Really well articulated and the effort that went into researching and summarising this vast epic shows.
