      GlassTopRX7 Maybe just a good NA tune up should suffice. Its 3500lbs, maybe lose the back seat. Replace stuff to make it lighter. Who knows really. Its a really good chassis and the engine revs really smooth too.

    • @GlassTopRX7
      @GlassTopRX7 8 років тому +1

      Mark Speed6
      There isn't much room to tune modern engines these days, sure you might squeeze a little more out of them with a tune as the manufacture has to keep emissions in check but it's not going to be much at all.
      The stock exhaust and intakes are often as good or better than most aftermarket stuff in term of performance.

    • @GlassTopRX7
      @GlassTopRX7 8 років тому +1

      Texarmageddon
      Heat soaking is easy to deal to solve with the large frontal area of the Camaro.
      As for handling you could leave it stock as it's only going add 50-75lbs to the nose. I'm nearly certain you wouldn't need to do a thing to take it 400-450 at the wheels. Might even be able to pull that off with a cheap ass procharger kit.
      Now if you want it be a better track car you're going to upgrade the suspension anyway.

    Camaro has pretty much escaped the stereotypical trope of muscle cars being about straight line speed only and not being able to corner. A V6 Camaro is basically Chevrolet's answer to Nissan's 370Z. Getting the 1LE track pack on it makes it a Porsche 911 killer.

    This car is quick. I love that there is a serious performance v6 version. I actually believe this car is more fun/usable on the road because you can use more of what it has. Sub 5 sec 0-60 times are no joke. From what I understand a simple tune unlocks another 30-40hp. Dang... Could be looking at my next car. My only issue? I hate that stupid hood wrap.

Not saying the V6 Camaro is slow but it's not as fast as the V8 and those are some very impressive times from that car.. I've always been a V6 hater if it's in a Camaro or Mustang but with these motors I don't know how you can hate anymore because their way faster than what the old V8's were

      Not aware that C&D ran the 3.7 EB, or 5.0 at LL. Ford ran the GT350R. The Camaro V6 1LE did best the '15 Mustang GT, '11 Shelby GT500, '11 CTS-V, '13 M5, '16 Lexus GS F, and was within .5 seconds of the 707HP '16 Charger Hellcat.

      They did run several other Mustangs...
      The 2015 Mustang GT ran 3:05.2 and the 2015 Mustang Ecoboost PP ran 3:15.6. So Ford's got some catching up to do in the tiers below the GT350.

  • @donaldvankleeck2004
    @donaldvankleeck2004 7 років тому

    Price problem for the V6: V6 1LE as tested was $43,185 (lap 3:04) while the V8 1LE as tested was $45,700 (lap 2:54) so for $2,515 more you can get the V8 which was 10 seconds faster. Hard to make an argument for buying the V6... but i guess I could point out the V6 is 227 lbs lighter and probably feels more responsive and better balanced.

    • @TonyisToking
      @TonyisToking 7 років тому +4

      Sounds like the V8 was a 1SS and the V6 was a 2LT. Luxuries play a big role in cost. You can get a similarly equipped V6 for about $7500 in savings with the 1LE package. I'd say it's worth it, especially considering the performance is adequate for most people considering the weight savings allow the V6 to breathe in this new gen. But I'm biased.

    • @rueben44

    • @Dolby109
      @Dolby109 8 років тому +2

      The A/C compressor is *supposed* to shut off when going full throttle. I don't know how efficient that all is, but the bigger loss likely comes from the condenser generating extra heat in front of the radiator.

      I don't know what you're trying to achieve... do you think I'm a GM fanboy or something... I actually prefer Nissan and older Datsuns to American motoring companies like GM but I think GM is putting out a better product than Nissan currently. The 370Z is played out and Nissan is being lazy on new releases. 8 or 9 years later and the facelift the GTR... good job. I think the best days of Nissan are in the past and the worst days of GM are in the past as well.

    Dear Chevrolet,
    Make a new compact, weighing less than 3000lbs, with this motor driving the rear wheels through a manual transmission. Price it around $22k, starting. Call in the Monza. Build it, and they will come.

    • @idriwzrd
      @idriwzrd 8 років тому

      Texarmageddon
      Not that Subaru or Mazda couldn't hit that price point if they wanted to...
      GM is a lot higher volume manufacture. So, start it at 22k with a 4cly. But the point is that a lightweight compact with that motor could be a performance bargain.

    • @Texarmageddon
      @Texarmageddon 8 років тому +1

      idriwzrd Subaru and Toyota Collaborated together for one car and they didn't even hit that price range.
      Anything coming in less than 3000lbs making making anything over 250hp will never start at 22k. Nor would it sell enough... nor would they want it to take sells from the vette.
      Again, it's a nice dream but that's not even possible anymore.

      Well this is still an excellent option for people who care more about track performance than power, and are on a tighter budget.
      But if you have the money the SS 1LE with the LT1 V8 and other upgrades spanks everything in its price range until the GT350R.
