As a Norwegian, former teacher who knows that many never get a chance in life, it is very exciting to follow what is happening in the American prison system. I wish you the best of luck with your important job. The first step has been taken, and even if it costs money, in the long run you will save not only money, but suffering both on the part of the inmates, the employees and the general population, which will be saved from serious crime committed by former inmates.

a very important fact about Norway is the 3 part cooperation between politicians, goverment (or private sector) and unions. The goal of the 3 part cooperation is to find new and better ways for work conditions and wages. It's an old system that go back to 30s.
So to find new better ways will everyone cooperate

Transformation does not need to cost a lot of money. Just simply being there and talking to the inmates is great tool to start with

Norwegian prisons is far better than US prisons, but we have true word in "life prisonment" in Norway too. Highest prison u can get is "21 år og 10 år sikring" or "21 years and 10 years of secure". And secure sentence means u as a prison or public. If u as a prison after around 18 years, u r not secure to be released, u will stay in the prison for new years. Mass murder and bug Anders Behring Breivik who killed 69 young kids and 8 adults in Oslo, will stay in prison until he dies. Norwegians hate for this guy is so great, so will he will never get out of prison.

Breivik's imprisonment and potential parole WILL be reviewed every few years, but seeing that this guy is so totally off his rocker it is unlikely the professionals (psychiatrists) that evaluate his fitness to be released will agree to do so. In the unlikely event he IS released, he is unlikely to last very long.

My country Norway is too soft on crime child murderers should be locked up for life and no i dont want that person as my neighbour regardless of rehabilitation. We cant be so naive to think everyone can be rehabilitated not everyone deserves a second chance. Sure Chester Pensylvania SCI copies Ila prison in Norway. I think at best one two US prisons will try this out and in extreme best case a whole state , but i highly doubt that its going to be adapted by the Whole country. Good luck persuading Texas or Florida or Missisppi to it its never gonna happen.

I'm American but based off of my research they don't think everyone can be rehabilitated, child murdered and the such are usually kept in for life, and are not allowed out.
If 90% can be rehabilitated and contribute to society after getting out, will you stop that because 10% can't be rehabilitated?

The vast majority of people can live fine given the right environment. True psychopathy/sociopathy is very rare.
See, the idea is to do what _works,_ not what's based on feelings. Results matter. Rehabilitation and society wide social conditioning works.

Just one question: are you christian/muslim?
If answer is yes, then that explains why you're bloodthirsty.
