    Just bought a PTR91 from a buddy who works at the local gun shop. It's nicely upgraded with a Magpul PRS and a really nice muzzle brake but I would love to have a suppressor for it!

    Ahh yes, the often overlooked #17 Locking Piece, 100% esential in this application.
    I've found that without the suppressor the rifle still functions pretty reliably using the #17 Locking Piece, has that been your experience?
    Nice setup, thank you for sharing.

      Every clown on the HK uber orthrodox we are better than you cult fan club forums have stated the number 17 will not work without a suppressor. I have an FMP G-3 pre ban and it functions perfectly fine with and without the suppressor with all sorts of ammo with the RCM 17 LP.. Albeit, the ammo without the can isn't sent to the far side of the moon but a nice puddle 45 degrees from me at about 4 feet. That's fine.

      I only test fired 10 rounds without the suppressor using the #17 locking piece. Definitely more enjoyable to shoot but I haven't shot the rifle since I posted the video. I'd say it would be reliable. Ejection was still strong even with the more delayed timing of the #17 LP.

      I have the #17 locking piece and have never had any problems firing unsuppressed. I did it just to soften the recoil.
      I also added the Springfield buffer, rubber recoil pad and a Strike J-Comp V2.

      @@ihcterra4625 IHC Terra, yes, a great working combination of parts you're using.
      The HK rifles take a little time and research when upgrading. I believe I'm using the HK51 heavy buffer in a MSG-90 stock.
      And yes, the #17 locking piece makes for a real easy shooter. Just remember, if you are expecting long shooting sessions or dirty environments the #17 locking piece w/o suppressor attached may result in a short-stroke or FTF. (just not enough energy to overcome dirt and carbon buildup)

      @@ihcterra4625 Just how much did the locking piece change the recoil on its own? Scale of 1 to 10, I guess. Not sure how to measure "felt recoil".

    What type of Suppressor is it?
    Brugger and Thomet adviced that #17 locking piece is not required for their Rotex suppressor. Test without it showed pretty much identical ejection patters and bolt speed.

    • @GCMKC
      @GCMKC  2 роки тому +2

      Suppressor is a Surefire RC2 7.62. I should get some bolt speed footage and compare between locking pieces. It definitely felt more delayed with the #17 locking piece.
